than two hours walter. >> reporter: brian and monica, leaders from local state agencies will gather here to discuss the matters you spoke of just as the preliminary hearing was held for the man accused of murder on rittenhouse square. prosecutors are describing this as cold blooded murder. collin mcgovern was allegedly stabbed to death by steven siminger right around 3:00 a.m. one of his friends took the stand today said it started innocently as mcgovern asked siminger about the devils hat. he was stabbed in the stomach and pronounced dead a short time later. but the defense paints a different picture, saying that the surveillance video shown

shows siminger backing away as mcgovernor initiated the attack. she says her client a disabled navy veteran was simply trying to defend himself. >> this is not the case of a deranged person committing a stabbing but it's an unfortunate situation and it's clear that my client was not the initial aggressor. this case will be held over for trial. reporting live from center city, walter perez, channel 6 "action news." camden county prosecutors released a 911 call a woman made when her aunt hit a pedestrian and kept driving. >> i was in a car and i wasn't driving and my aunts was driving and hit someone. >> they hit someone like a person? >> yes.

62 and richmond 66 and south of that temperatures are in the 70s and tomorrow we'll have strong winds out of the southwest pulling up that warm air and it's going to be warm on friday as well. and tonight temperatures really not dropping nearly as much as last night. last night temperatures were in the 20s and 30s and overnight tonight temperatures dropped down into the 40s. a pretty good launching pad for temperatures in the 70s tomorrow afternoon however double scan live radar showing there is a pretty intense storm system that is causing severe weather in parts of the midwest or deep south and that low pressure will move to the north and what that will do is drag a cold front through and create a rainy friday and then a big change in temperatures for the weekend, feeling like winter for sunday. i'll talk about that coming up in the full accuweather forecast. back to you. >> thank you cecily. final four frenzy is taking over the main line and the whole

this is drone video from a fast moving fire, a six alarm blaze in brooklyn. 11 people were hurt when the roofs of five buildings burned last night. firefighters worked the fire and fought the winds before getting it under control. wall street led today, the dow jones jumped nearly 100 points after opening and stocks closed higher again. and the dow gained 84 points and the nasdaq finishing up just about 23 and the s&p 500 rose just about 9 points on the day. belgium officials say that a

community college in bucks county. they can do research and get their businesses off the ground. well, a group of young elementary school students knows what it takes to run a major city. mayor jim kenney had career day in south philadelphia and spoke with the second grade class here, he told the students where he grew up about his education and how he got to be mayor. 1,000 young scientists from across the region are splitting more than$,000 worth of scholarships and prizes, they are competing at the science fair in oaks today. the sixth through 12th graders were there. vice president joe biden is teaming up with lady gaga to talk about sexual assault. the two appeared together in february at the oscars when lady gaga was nominated for her

all right the time for accuweather at the "action news" big board. let swing over to cecily tynan for this great weather we are having. >> we are going warm things up and see a great amount of sunshine. looking live at philadelphia international airport. high thin clouds moving in and sky 6 moving a little bit and winds not as strong as the past few days but we have a bit of a breeze. philadelphia 58 and allentown 59 and wilmington 54 and the winds are generally from the southeast and philadelphia winds 13 miles per hour and stronger in wildwood and wilmington clocking in at 20 miles per hour. but with the winds shift out of the south that brings us warmer

air. satellite 6 along with action radar showing the big picture, high pressure off the eastern seaboard and low pressure from the midwest, that moves up over canada and that puts us in a squeeze play that pulls up tremendous winds from the southwest tomorrow. even tonight it won't get that cold. temperatures in the 20s and 30s, and tonight dropping down into the 40s under partly cloudy skies and 46 in philadelphia and allentown dropping to a low of 40 degrees and good viewing conditions to see the inter international space station. what you want to do is look up to the southwest horizon at 8:56 and it's visible for four minutes it will arc over you and exit to the east-northeast at 60 degrees and partly cloudy skies and the fact that the moon is not rising until well after midnight creates pretty good viewing conditions.

all of those science nerds like i am will be looking up to the sky tonight. future tracker showing tomorrow morning wins from the south already 64 degrees by 11:00 and temperatures skyrocket by 5:00 temperatures up into the 70s but it will be gusty and future tracker 6 showing the winds at 5:00 close to 40 miles per hour generally out of the south and friday also windy and friday will be wet. future tracker 6 showing it's wet. but thursday is a dry day and does not arrive until after midnight and showers developing over philadelphia and that will last into the day on friday. it looks like the first half of the day is wetter and then things begin to cool off dramatically over the weekend. the five-day at 5:00, it's going be warm and a windy day and high of 73 degrees, increasing clouds and friday 77 degrees but that comes with showers and perhaps even a thunderstorm as that cold front pulls through, behind that system saturday, a day of

chris christie says there will be more support for families struggling to keep a roof over their head. he listened to their struggles in glassboro and how the keeping families together program is helping them get back on their feet. >> i heard from all, or two of the three for sure that their families are falling apart or have fallen apart. we can't let that happen willingly. >> it gives vouchers that puts families in homes together. and the program is receiving 500 state rental assistance vouchers. a man is behind bars after a methamphetamines lab went up in flames. police arrested james sparks of clayton last night when they responded to downs chapel road for a garage fire. officials say that sparks was in the process of making meth when

the blaze started and he is facing charges including arson. philadelphia police believe the same man may be behind two holdups one on march 7th at the 7-eleven on lebanon avenue. the suspect pulled a gun and takes off empty handed and then last wednesday police believe the same man walked into the same 7-eleven this time with a knife and jumped over the counter and takes cash and runs off. two people and two police officers are hurt after an explosion in bayonne, new jersey. after contractors working on a street struck a gas line. two workers were taken to the hospital and two police officers were also hurt. the blast is under investigation, officials do not think it was a gas explosion because there was no gas in the line at that time.

we are learning new details about the man accused of hijacking a plane in egypt. mustafa left court flashing a peace sign and this is not his first run-in with the law and has a history of petty crime including forgery and burglary. and police say he hijacked the plane bound for cairo with 72 people on board wearing a fake suicide vest. one passenger says she feels lucky to be alive. >> thought end up in the sea and just die or he is going to explode. >> a british passenger that posed with mustafa for this picture is speaking out about the ordeal and said he just threw caution to the wind to stay cheerful about the ordeal. a bit of a head scratcher there. now a check of traffic. we are always scratching our

radar a lot of sunshine today and we mimic that again tomorrow with the sunshine in control and the temperatures going way up. today 58 degrees in philadelphia. seasonable for this point in march. allentown the warmest spot at 61 degrees, trenton 59 and 59 in wilmington and a southerly and southeasterly wind throughout the day and coming off the ocean just 50 degrees, it kept the numbers cool. sea isle city just 49 and still upper 40s at the shore and head inland lower 50s and 54 in wilmington and the warmest spot away from the wind is coming off the water and 59 in allentown and trenton and 58 degrees in reading. we see high clouds that are breaking in from the west and the atmosphere is super dry right now, not a lot of moisture and a lot of clouds are continuing to evaporate here this evening. and overnight tonight, and not
