at the king of prussia mall last night. amoore is now behind bars on a half million dollars bail. "action news" reporter chad pradelli is live at the district justice's office. chad, what are the charges against amoore tonight? >> reporter: jim, amoore is charged with kidnapping unlawful restraint and other related charges. according to court records she told police she doesn't know why she did it. she can't explain it. cherie amoore said nothing amidst a gauntlet of reporters as she was escortd into district court where she was charged with kidnapping and other offenses. inside the courtroom she broke down and cried as she saw her parents sitting behind her. >> it's a very difficult day for everyone. it's difficult for her, it's difficult for her family. i mean, you saw her in the courtroom. she was, sharks shaken. >> reporter: police say amoore walked into the king of prussia mall yesterday engaged malekah hunter in conversation, then walked off with seven week old ahsir simmons.

>> she has told our investigators that she did not go to the mall with the intention to steal a baby. >> reporter: this was the scene last night as hunter was reunited with her unharmed son. police tracked down amoore at her wayne home after receiving tips and other leads. ahsir's mother was thankful for the public's help. >> first off i would like to thank god for allowing my baby to come back and i want to give a special thanks to the upper merion township police department and everybody on social media that helped me get my baby back. >> reporter: amoore is the daughter prominent republican renee amoore who has been a panelist on "action news"'s public affairs program inside story. she had no comment outside of court. court records reveal her daughter cold investigators she delivered a baby in february but it died shortly after birth. police have not been able to confirm that pregnancy and she told detectives i just got up and walked away. i remember walking. it was like an out of body

university hospital. lie at broad and fairmount is "action news" reporter jeff chirico. jeff, what are the details here? >> reporter: jim, the street opened up a few moments ago. the action cam was first on the scene here right after a police cruiser that was responding to a call apparently hit a 13-year-old boy. you can see from the video that that 13-year-old was alert, was conscious and talking with the emergency crews as they strapped him onto a stretcher. he was taken to hahnemann university hospital. now, police shut down this very busy roadway here on a friday commute for about a half hour as they investigated. they interviewed a couple witnesses about what they saw, but again, that officer apparently was responding to a call, lit that 13-year-old right here at the intersection but that 13-year-old does not appear to have life-threatening injuries. we are live in spring garden, jeff chirico, channel6 "action news."

>> i said girl. my apologies. thank you jeff. despite our very warm temperatures, we have got a cold front bearing down on us and that will cause some showers, maybe even some thunderstorms. let's check in with double scan radar and cecily tynan. cecily. >> and jim, we do have a line of thunderstorms moving in really right on schedule and some of these storms have been producing some high gusty winds and even hail so the national weather service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of bucks county into hunterdon county until 6:15 for the potential for damaging wind gusts. i want to show you this area that does have the severe weather and this right now is basically between 309 and 611. it's across the northeast extension of the pennsylvania turnpike. we've had 69 lightning strikes alone in this area and also something we can do on storm tracker, we can flip it over and we can see the hail and so we have had reports of hail anywhere from the size of pea,

the size of pennies along that stretch as it continues to push to the northeast pretty quickly at about 50 miles per hour. we'll flip this over to radar mode and show you that this line of storms does extend to the south moving through chester county heading towards west chester, malvern, should be moving into philadelphia within the next half hour so it is causing a wet evening commute and it will bring an end to the near record warmth. temperatures today 80 degrees in philadelphia, only 1 degree shy of the record. behind this system temperatures are in the 60's but i'm tracking even colder air and potentially damaging winds for the second half of the weekend. as well as showers tomorrow t all the details in the accuweather 7-day forecast. forecast. jim. >> tomorrow the wildcats continue their quest for app second championship in a final

"action news" reporter jeff skversky and alicia vitarelli are in houston covering the team and their fans every move. we'll hear from jeff in just a few moments but first, alicia vitarelli and it looks like everybody is having a pretty good time, alicia. >> reporter: yeah, they sure are, jim. here at the team's hotel, the royal sonesta in houston. one of the stars, ryan dee arcarcidiacono has been gettinga lot of attention. his parents are particularly proud because their son is playing and winning for their alma mater. mom and dad arch as they are lovingly known or joe and patti more formally met at villanova when he was a senior and she was a junior.

college sweet hearts they got married in 1983 but their villanova story didn't end on graduation day. ryan is their fourth of six children. they say they knew he was born to do this. >> since he was little and arch's mom said he was the same way when he was little he always had a ball in his hand and that's how ryan was, too. >> law very physically mature. he was tall. you agree early and awkwardly i signed him up either a year or two years early in basketball. put him on the court and he was doing so well and might be something special at five but you got to hold onto your mind-set. then as he evolved he got a little older we took him down to a camp in philadelphia to a high school then coach had players that went on to play high school -- college ball and he goes ryan is just like them and that's when i thought all right maybe he is that level and he continued on his progression and villanova was the school for him and it's been amazing.

training them to do the job was lacking. >> reporter: john darby found the sex crimes unit as it was called then in shambles when he took over 14 years ago. his mission was to reinvent it completely and to build credibility with the public at large and activists as well. >> there were literally thousands of cases that had been downgraded, coded to noncrime categories. >> reporter: former police commissioner sylvester johnson told me that darby was chosen because of his reputation for dedication and hard work, sensitivity and compassion. critical to changing the culture and perception of this unit. >> you opened the door and you became totally transparent. that is, you allow advocacy groups to come in and basically look at your entire process. >> reporter: the baton has been passed to 35 year veteran mark bergman who says he's

thunderstorms. storm tracker6 live double scan showing that it's pushing east across our viewing area pretty quickly. it's moving through the northwest suburbs and it really is knocking on the door of philadelphia right now. we've got this line, the most intense part of it right over chadds ford. three lightning strikes with some heavy downpours so southwest philadelphia olney, north philadelphia, center city frankford and south philadelphia really rolling here between now and 6:40 and this line extends farther up to the north where we did have a severe thunderstorm warning posted earlier. that has been discontinued but still we've got 21 lightning strikes moving through lansdale, worcester, doylestown, up towards new hope and this is also moving quickly at about 50 miles per hour. and this is ahead of a cold front that will bring us some cooler changes tomorrow but the real cold air arriving on sunday. but highs today 21 degrees above normal for philadelphia 80 degrees, reading 81, philadelphia and reading just 1 degree shy of the record highs. trenton and wilmington 78 and

sea isle city not quite that warm but still well above normal, 67 degrees. the normal high for this time of the year is 59. but with those winds out of the south, ahead of that cold front, it's still very warm. philadelphia 78. millville 73. trenton 75. and dover 75 degrees and satellite6 along with action radar showing here is the front with that broken line of storms and what will happen tomorrow, the front moves off shore but there's a wave of low pressure to the south. that will pull up along that front and cause it to retrograde, to move to the west and that will bring the showers back into our region. so, future tracker showing around 10 o'clock, the showers moving off shore but tomorrow you wake up, it's cloudy. we have some showers around and they actually will intensify around lunchtime. late in the day if we're lucky we'll see some peeks of sunshine. the next cold front arriving on sunday and this front has a lot of cold air so much in fact the poconos could have a

coating of snow by the morning and then with this front the timing is key. because it moves through right at the time that we have the low level jet right over us. so, what this is, winds about 5,000 feet above the surface, up to 60 miles per hour and that front could tap into those winds and pull them down to the surface. so, through the night on saturday and really the first half of the day, the winds are going to be howling. a high wind watch has been posted for midnight saturday through noon on sunday for wind gusts 50 to 60 miles per hour. that's strong enough to bring down some trees and power lines so we could have some pout outage and it's going to have a big effect on the way it feels. wind chill sunday morning, caesar rodney half marathon adam and i will be running, when you're warming up the wind chill will be 24 degrees. wind chill in philadelphia 25. and even in the afternoon despite a good amount of sunshine wind chills will be stuck in the 30's so it's going to feel like winter on
