county. >> combs was a fixture in the small community of swedesboro a town of less than 2500 people. new at 5:00 nora muchanic live in our new jersey news room with the latest on this case. nora. >> reporter: monica, rick, the gloucester county prosecutor's office says it's done at least 50 interviews in connection with this case and is asking for the public's help to solve the murder of a man everyone knew as buttons. >> you would see buttons walking up and down the street or sitting on a park bench but he didn't bother anybody. >> reporter: and that is why the residents of swedesboro are trying to figure out why anyone would murder 60-year-old sylvester combs a also will man who was a fixture in this tiny community and known to everyone as buttonsly he was discovered beaten to death last week in a trailer where he sometimes stayed at this abandoned pallet factory in town. >> we're shaken by this horrific crime that he was taken so brutally that it wasn't necessary. it just -- it's awful. it's really awful.

>> reporter: mary beth rambler is on the board of christian thrift store and pantry where buttons was a regular and often stopped by for his favorite chicken nuggets. >> it's just a frail kind person and just no reason. couldn't think of anybody why anybody would do this to him. >> reporter: townspeople raised money to help pay for buttons funeral and now they're focusing on doubling the reward being offered for information about the murder to $5,000. >> someone scared in the past to come forward now. >> reporter: the gloucester county prosecutor's office says it's continuing the investigation into buttons murder. residents in this quiet idyllic community are still in shock. >> action is devastating. no one expected a murder in this town. everyone liked him. he was a mind can and he was like -- he was a community figure. >> reporter: now, there's a candlelight vigil at the murder scene later tonight and a service at a local church

so that keeps us free of any cloud and rain and that continues tonight through the weekend and into next week. so the call from accuweather for tonight it will be clear, it will be calm and a little bit chilly. could have a few areas of frost in the pine barrens but nothing widespread. millville dropping down to 32 but philadelphia about 10 degrees higher than that, 42, allentown 35, reading 36 and trenton 37 degrees. and future tracker showing temperatures will continue to warm as we head through the weekend. tomorrow afternoon, temperatures rising into the low to mid 60's and on sunday, temperatures rising up into the 70's. so, this really is a time of year we have to start thinking about safety. a lot of times you don't think about this unless it's a heat wave but a new study from stanford university shows that when the air temperature is anywhere from 72, which it will be this sunday, to 96 degrees, the interior of a car heats up 40 degrees an hour reaching 112 to 136 and

joined by survivors and victims' families for a wreath laying ceremony at the marathon finish line. three people were killed, more than 260 others injured in the bombings. throughout the day various events were held throughout boston like blood drives, food collections and other community service projects, all to celebrate that city's resiliency. scary moments in the air when a plane flying from new york to nashville had to make an emergency landing after bird strike. the impact with the delta plane cracked the windshield. the plane landed in charleston, west virginia and the 57 passengers on board were put on a different flight. luckily no one was hurt. >> a berks county couple on vacation will come home to find their house unfortunately destroyed by fire. this is the scene in the unit block of butler's lane this morning. firefighters arrived and immediately 33 called for backup but as you can see flames ripped apart this two and a half story home. the homeowners are reportedly away out of the country.

it's not clear what sparked that fire. fortunately nobody was hurt. from our new jersey news room this is sledge 37-year-old john leone being held on $300,000 bail charged with sexually assaulting a young child. authorities say they arrested him following a four month long investigation. pennsylvania's physician general is going on a tour of the state making sure that people realize the effectiveness of narcan. that medication can temporarily reverse an overdose that's caused by drugs like heroin. today dr. rachel levine was at walgreens in center city. she wants to remind people you do not need a doctor's prescription to obtain it. the medication has saved the lives of hundreds of people who have overdosed. >> this medication is absolutely life saving. it reverses an opioid overdose. that's all it does. so you can't get addicted to it. it doesn't make you high. and it has one use only is to reverse the fatal effects of such an overdose.

>> officials say the drug overdoses are the leading cause of accidental death right now in pennsylvania. >> from our delaware news room, police arrested two people for a robbery and an attack at a dover motel. 25-year-old xavier spady and 23-year-old amanda harris are accused of forcing their way into a room at the dover inn on north dupont highway yesterday. there was a woman inside the room and meals say spady put his hands around her throat. he then reportedly took her money and he and harris ran offer. police found them in the area and arrested them moments later. they reportedly found spady holding 5 grams of marijuana. a car flipped several times and happened on its roof here on 295 in burlington county. happened around 3 o'clock this afternoon in the morbid of northbound lanes in springfield township. officials say the driver only suffered minor injuries. traffic in the area was backed up for some time. we don't yet know what caused the driver to lose control. >> as we have been telling you the upcoming weekend will be the perfect time for you to

were there for today's announcement at the race street pier. the circuit's goal is to create a 750-mile network of bicycle and pedestrian trails that connect the greater philadelphia region. >> great idea. time to find out how other kinds of transportation is rolling tonight. >> might need your bicycle get home. >> we have some unhappy trails for the way home this afternoon on the schuylkill expressway. looks like a beautiful afternoon until you look at this traffic. eastbound still stop and go the whole way from king of prussia into center city. at least our trash truck here is now on the shoulder and the travel times have improved by six minutes so i guess we'll take what we can get. out in chester county still a crash with a downed pole and wires shutting down charles town road. 29 is a way around that but adjacent to 29 pot house road closed today for about a month so that's going to put extra traffic on 23. elsewhere in chester county it's a standstill coming down 202 from west chester pike through this point near stetson school road and skiles boulevard crash taking out one of the two lanes.

anniversary of the day that jackie robinson started his first game with the brooklyn dodgers. today dozens of folks showed up to the philadelphia stars negro league memorial park to honor major league's first black player and in about an hour there will also be a ceremony before the phillies game to pay tribute to robinson who broke the color barrier here on this day in 1947. >> bet you every april 15th jackie's up there having a party. he can't believe there his legacy has carried on the way it has and i think that's great for all of us to think about on this day. >> it comes just weeks after philadelphia city council passed a resolution officially apologizing to robinson for the way the phillies treated him at the beginning of his career. >> all right time for sports. jeff skversky is here with a blow for the flyers as they get ready for game two against the caps. >> they're struggling to score so far. if losing game one in washington didn't hurt enough, now this. the flyers lose center sean couturier for the rest of the

philadelphia today with that bright blue sky, 65 degrees, 1 degree above that normal of 64 degrees. that hit at 3:59 this afternoon. the low 41. a little bit cooler than the normal of 44 and that sun setting now at 7:40. to the north and west in the low 60's in most locations, a couple of upper 60's like martins creek, levittown, even coatesville sitting in the middle 60's at 65 degrees but a we head to the south, that ocean is still very chilly, 51 degrees with the winds wrapping in off the water. it's openly in the low 50's at the immediate shore and upper 50's vineland and hammonton and expect that chill if you head down the shore this upcoming weekend. we are in the sweet spot across the eastern half of the country and really the entire country. you can see the clouds wrapping around this large high pressure that's to our north. all the wet weather into florida as well as atlanta, georgia, and expecting a few inches of rain even in the midsection of the country as they are going to be stuck in

the muck so to speak while we're kind of sun soaked around here for the next five or so days. so, for tonight clear, chilly, a calm wind, 35 in the suburbs, 42 for center city. and speaking of the city, the forecast for your saturday, sunny, mild, northeasterly wind six to 12 miles an hour with a high of 67 degrees. in the lehigh valley, beautiful tomorrow. cool start, though, but in the afternoon also hitting the similar temperature of the city of philadelphia of 67. but again, you're heading to the shore, it's sunny, it's really nice but with an on shore wind the temperature will only top off around 55 degrees so if you're in the shade definitely still need a light jacket if you're going to take a stroll along one of your favorite boardwalks. good end that pollen spiking to the high level saturday, sunday and it continues into next week. we have really no wet weather to kind of cleanse the atmosphere and the culprits right now have been maple and juniper but now poplar coming

into the equation. the seven-day forecast 67 sunshine tomorrow and spring perfection on sunday. your temperature 74 degrees and notice even the overnight low starting to warm a little bit. very warm june-like on monday. a few high clouds coming back in of 80 degrees. a cold front comes through but it rides through dry here and it cools us down briefly here but still above normal tuesday, wednesday of 68 degrees. and then we heat it right back up here. thursday 77 degrees. and then the next chance for any showers will come on friday of 75. so, a pretty good looking seven-day forecast when you have numbers starting with six's, seven's and eight's. >> we mulch prefer that to the threes and four's. >> and the snow. >> stay with 6abc/weather through the weekend. remember to keep storm tracker6 live radar close at land for any changes heading our way.

remember last friday, i was tracking cold air and snow. we've got the opposite this weekend. take a look at highs over the eastern half of the country today. 65 degrees in philadelphia. that's 1 degree above normal. so, that's seasonable but if you look to the west you can see temperatures in the 70's really building under a strong ridge of high pressure and that air mass is heading our way. what's not heading our way any time soon, clouds. satellite6 along with action radar slowing with that high pressure parked right over us, we have sinking air so that leads any clouds well away from us so the evening planner for your friday night if you're out on the town a pretty nice night. you do want a jacket even now, 60 degrees by 7 o'clock then temperatures will be dropping down through the 50's so it will be a little bit on the chilly side tonight but if we look at the next three days, tomorrow will be 2 degrees warmer than today. sunday, 7 degrees warmer than today and monday is going to feel like june. 15 deges
