as well. we also respect the media's right to information. bear in mind that this incident happened about 29 hours ago and continues to be under investigation. there are some things regarding this investigation that i will not be able to talk about. i'm going to give you a statement. and we will then take some questions that you may have. at about 9:43 yesterday morning we received a medical call at paisley park in chanhassen. chanhassen fire, the calvert county sheriff's office and rescue ambulance all responded to the call. that is -- that is our standard protocol and it is not unusual at all for to us have everybody respond to a medical like that. they found an unresponsive male in the elevator. cpr was initially started but was unsuccessful. he was pronounced deceased at

10:07. we have identified him aspirins rogerasprince rogers ns old. staff members from paisley park had been unable to contact prince yesterday morning and went to check on him they found him unresponsive and called 911. deputies went through the following make sure there was nobody else inside. because this was an unwitnessed death of a middle aged adult the decision was need process thmade to process . this is also normal protocol. there should be -- we ended up contacting the county crime lab to help us with that and there should be no inference taken from that. it's not unusual for them to come out done those types of calls. we finished with our processing late yesterday

afternoon and turned paisley park back over to prince's representatives. again, because this investigation is ongoing, i will not be answering questions on whether or not there were any items that were taken during our processing. the midwest medical examiners office was contacted and dr. quinn strobel who is a carver county medical examiner responded. there were no obvious signs of trauma on the body at all. the body was transported to dr. strobel's office for an autopsy and that is being done today. results from that autopsy may take several weeks which is not unusual. again, this will continue to be an open investigation until the autopsy results come back and we are ready to take questions that you may have. >> reporter: there were

people in the house that was distraught. could you tell us about who was in the home. >> you have been listening to the sheriff on the death investigation of prince. of course we will be listening in and bringing updates on what is said in this news conference, anything of note or of importance will be of course in our newscast andline. meantime we are following developing news out of ohio where a horrendous crime has rocked a small town. police in pike county say eight people have been found dead. seven of them were killed execution style. investigators say the seven bodies were in three different homes down a rural dirt road. authorities believe all seven are from the same family and were shot to death. an eighth person was found dead at a fourth scene. no arrests have been made and it's also unclear if the can killer or killers are among the dead. you can count on "action news" to bring you new information on this story as it comes in today. it is friday afternoon. i'm sharrie williams. >> and i'm brian taff. we're following the late of the on the student killed in

her school in delaware yesterday. today howard high school made grief counselors available and police are still trying sort through exactly what happened there. chad pradelli has been following this story since it first broke yesterday. he's live in wilmington. >> reporter: a vigil is planned for 6 o'clock outside of howard high school for amy joyner-francis. you can see people have already begun to gather. there's a small memorial that has been growing by the hour. it's been a difficult day here at the school as people continue to mourn francis joyner. it was not a dave learning at howard high school of technology but rather one of mourning. as a small memorial for amy joyner-francis grew outside the school grieve counselors met students at the school. >> she was very special to a lot of people not only to me but to a lot of people. >> she was only 16. she really didn't deserve

this. >> reporter: investigators say joyner-francis died yesterday after getting into a fight with at least two girls in a bathroom. paramedics tried to revive her but she was pronounced at a local hospital. students say the fight may have been over a boy. police are still investigating. >> this is not a young lady who was involved in street activity. this is an honor roll student manager of the wrestling team whose mother and father were very engaged in her life as well as her siblings. >> reporter: school was released early today as police can kept a watchful eye. students were somber and it will be quite some time before this school and this city regains some normalcy. >> she was a wonderful young lady and the fact that she's gone, it really affects us tremendously. she made a huge difference in society went need more young people like that. >> reporter: and investigators will know more about how joyner-francis died

once an autopsy is completed. i'm told that could take 72 hours. i'm live in wilmington, chad pradelli, channel6 "action news." >> all right, chad, thank you. we have breaking news to get to now in reading where firefighters are battling a huge blaze at a commercial building. chopper6 is live over the 600 block of arlington street. it started around 2:30 this afternoon but it is now at three alarms and quite a bit being scorched here as the smoke continues to rise to the sky. power crews have shut off electricity to the neighborhood while firefighters try to get this one under control. so far there are no reports of any injuries. ly. >> philadelphia police are looking for the man they say tried to rape a woman in south philadelphia. they gave us these surveillance pictures of the suspect. they say he attacked a woman on the 1300 block of wharton street about 1:30 in the morning on wednesday. the victim was able to mace the man and he ran off. police want anyone who might recognize this man to please call them right away. hall has been getting more details on this case and he'll have a live report coming up tonight at 5 o'clock. >> all right, it is time for a check of the accuweather forecast on this friday. >> some rain starting to fall for some of you out there. meteorologist adam joseph standing by with the details. >> yeah, rain for a few and the warmth for everybody, even a little humid this afternoon compared to early on in the week. take a look at the numbers right now in philadelphia, 77 degrees, 76 in allentown as well as millville. 75 in dover, mount pocono. a bit cooler at some of the shore locations like the boardwalk in beach haven at 64 degrees. as we look at storm tracker6 live double scan a couple of showers in southern parts of new castle county but there's a cluster of downpours in the tip of cape may moving away from sussex county in delaware over the bay. no lightning strikes with this but a couple of heavier downpours in the red just to the west of wildwood and working towards cape may and the lighthouse and this will clip some of those southern shore areas from sea isle city down to cape may over the next half hour.

temperatures in the 60's and as we start saturday morning at 8:00 a.m., clouds trying to linger as well as a couple of showers. 50's to the north, 60 philadelphia, 63 in millville. then saturday afternoon we'll try to pull the drier air in from the north. this is 4:30. so, if you live north and west of philadelphia, best chance of seeing that sun returning tomorrow afternoon with temperatures in the upper 60's. if you're at the shore tomorrow southern delaware new jersey some showers could linger into the early afternoon hours tomorrow. so, over the next 18 hours, i'm not talking about a lot of rain, it's about a quarter to a half inch but staying a little on the damp side for the beginning of the weekend. there four day at 4:00 forecast tomorrow again morning clouds and a few showers especially south of philadelphia giving way to some sun. lehigh valley first, then down to philadelphia last, 73 degrees. mostly sunny, though, for everybody here even the shore sunday of 69. and then back to the low 80's for the beginning of next week. it is dry monday. another cold front arrives

near minneapolis yesterday. officials also said they have no reason to suspect it was suicide at this point. >> that news conference as this news comes as fans and celebrities continue to mourn his death today. prince was 57 years old. an autopsy is now complete and his body has been released to his family but the results may take several weeks. police say the investigation will remain open until they get those results. >> we are also following the investigation into a suspicious fire that forced seven different families out of their homes. >> the blaze injured six people including four children and police believe someone started it on purpose. "action news" reporter annie mccormack has more from the scene in south jersey. >> reporter: this cell phone video captured by a viewer shows a ball of fire rolling down the 800 block of haddon avenue in camden. the early morning blaze tore through nearly all the homes on the block. multiple people were sent to the hospital including several children.

all suffered smoke inhalation and are expected to be okay. police say this fire was no accident. >> we do believe that this fire does appear to be purposely set. we have a person of interest that we are currently in custody and we are talking to him. >> reporter: camden county arson investigators spent the morning sifting through the debris and they have a possible motive. so far, though, no charges have been filed. >> we did respond to this location yesterday for a conflict between the sheriff's office and a tenant that was there that was in the process of being evicted. >> everything was engulfed in flames and the windows was exploding things like that. you could feel it as you came out. >> reporter: it was a terrifying scene for residents. firefighters say two people jumped from a home. this neighbor saw a woman running after getting her kids out safely. >> the two babies in her hand she was running down the street and i guess she was saying in spanish to the other three kids come, come, come and that were running behind her. >> all of the people that

affected including small children. it's something we take very seriously. if this person did in fact do it they'll have to stand and face justice. >> reporter: the red cross arrived and fire crews escorted some victims to get medication and shoes. some of the homes divided into apartments are destroyed and the red cross says at this point they're assisting at least 20 people in this fire alone. they say that this is actually the fourth fire that they've had in south jersey so they've been helping multiple families across the area for the past week. reporting in camden, annie mccormick channel6 "action news." >> we've got new information out of our delaware news room today. investigators now say a fake gun sparked a police-involved shooting in wilmington last night. it happened on the 400 block of west third street. police say they were chasing a 17-year-old boy when he tripped and then grabbed what appeared to be a weapon from his waist band. now one officer shot that suspect in the knee. they later discovered the teen's weapon was a replica handgun. he is facing multiple charges

today. the officer who shot him has been placed on administrative duty. >> surveillance video we first showed you on tuesday has helped police catch a suspected package thief in new castle county. 40-year-old raymond montgomery allegedly stole packages from a front porch on greentree lane in bear. investigators say they got a lot of tips once they released this video. a call to crime stoppers is what eventually led them to montgomery. he was charged and released. a construction worker is recovering after he was rescued on the job today. officials say the subcontractor fell into a sewer. it happened while he was working on the presidential city apartments. that's the $100 million development project along city avenue in wynnefield heights. firefighters took the man out on a stretcher as you can see. he was taken into the hospital for treatment. >> meteorologist adam joseph joining us now as you can t i'm among the many hoping for some rain today to get this

>> ♪ >> meteorologist adam joseph joining us now. a little bit of an obstacle to get through tonight but the weekend is coming and it looks pretty good. >> a slowing drying trend as we get into saturday morning for some of us but don't worry most of the weekend will be pretty good. as we look at double scan live radar right now most of the air very warm, a little muggy a couple showers you can see near wilmington, near salem and on the border of kent and new castle county but the cluster has been mainly through cape may county that developed in southern delaware and pushed across. originally these were thunderstorms. not severe but at the present time there's no lightning strikes with it. the heaviest rain is now sliding off the coast south of sea isle city but lingering showers near reads beach up towards norristown and on the verge of fortescue and tuckahoe and this will continue its journey off the coast and at the most part right now we are fairly dry. 77 in philadelphia as well as trenton, 76 in millville. much cooler right along the shore with the winds coming in off the ocean. low 60's at the present time.

poconos lehigh valley we're in the middle 70's. as we look at satellite and radar, the showers have been very slow to push in from the west. we have what was a cutoff low meaning it wasn't picked up by the river of air we call the jet stream to move it along and it will slowly spin its way through the region tonight and early tomorrow morning. so, future tracker at 6 o'clock tonight, maybe a scattered shower here or there but the majority of us will be dry here this evening. that continues even until 9 o'clock. couple of scattered showers around with temperatures in the mid and the upper 60's. after midnight, 2:00 a.m., we start to fill the radar in just a little bit while most of us are sleep we could hear a rumble of thunder overnight tonight, a quick downpour. that passes along 9 o'clock on saturday morning. overall right around that 60-degree mark but you noticing future tracker now showing the clouds hanging on and there still could be a couple of scattered showers around. so, through tonight and the first part of your saturday, some scattered showers, a few downpours, maybe even a couple

of thunderstorms to develop. about a quarter to a half an inch on average so that dry stretch ends after nine days. high pressure not strong enough to push this system away from us for saturday. so, the sun is going to return but it will be slow from the north first the lehigh valley late morning, philadelphia maybe around lunchtime and then the shore very late in the day where there could even be lingering showers into the early afternoon. then that high pressure comes in for sunday for sure. sunshine for everybody and seasonable with a high temperature of 69 degrees before we warm it big time here at the beginning of next week. so, you shall seven day exclusive accuweather forecast will show morning clouds and again some showers to start your saturday especially philadelphia to the south with some sun returning in the afternoon from north to south at 73. 69 here, beautiful on sunday. and then turning warmer, low 80's on monday, sun, some late clouds. tuesday a cold front comes in from the north, a lot of
