year and it could even stretch through another weekend, metrologist cecily tynan is at the action big board with a look at the forecast cecily. >> a heat wave has now gone for seven days now, the good news is it peaked already. the worst of it was saturday when the heat index rose all the way up to 111 but seven days ties as the longest heat wave of the year in late july and this heat wave has the potential to last five more days but temperatures will be in the low 90s and the humidity tomorrow will not be as high as today. the highest heat index in philadelphia rose up to 106 degrees today. tomorrow the heat index should be below 100 so we do not have excessive heat warning and is good news. storm tracker six double scan between 4:00-8:00 showing we had a good line of thunderstorms that caused damage in burkes and

scattering of storms in burkes and chester county east of 222, approaching honey brook, nothing severe with this but that is ahead of a cold front and behind that cold front we get a break. right now dew points are in the 70s. that cold front will bring us drier air tomorrow with dew points dropping into the 60s for parts of our region so it's a slight dip this dew point the heat wave will continue and tracking the chance of more storms tomorrow night, talk more about that in the accuweather seven-day forecast rick. >> cecily we will check back in later thank you. meantime this week of extreme heat and humidity has been brutal for several businesses especially many food vendors. at the open air market food is turning extra quickly. >> everything is ripening really fast and by tomorrow they are yellow already. >> reporter: at carl's farm and eggs they are packing meat and poultry and extra ice to keep it

from spoiling but down the street at center city soft pretzel company they are used to it and normally work in 118 degree temperatures when they are baking. this afternoon's storms sizzled as they made their way out west but they were strong enough to do some damage in burkes county, this is how it looked where a roof was ripped off and tree branches came down in west reddening one of them broke out a car's rear window. >> ten people killed and more than 40,000 homes damaged in unprecedented flooding in louisiana and began during torrential rains on friday and homes and businesses are still under water, at least 30,000 people have been rescued. of the people 12000 are now homeless and packed in shelters. today some residents returned to their homes to assess the damage and many found soggy carpets and drywall along with mold and insects. nearly a dozen local american red cross volunteers packed up this morning and headed south to

baton rouge, action news was there as they caught flights out of philadelphia international airport and volunteers distributing food and helping residents who are staying in the shelters. in california the threat is not water but fire. a new wildfire is blazing a path through the hills outside of los angeles forcing an entire town to evacuate. the residence residence residents are on edge and people miles away are breathing an sigh of relief and we are live in the satellite center tonight to explain why dan. >> rick a california community broke out into tears afterward that arrest had been made further authorities suspect he may be a serial arsonist. >> it is my pleasure to announce the arrest of damin anthony pashilk on 17 counts of arson. broke out about 8:30 at an apartment on the 300 west 21st street and rescue crews had to remove the victim from a window and rushed to the medical center, no word yet on what caused the fire. two police vehicles rushing to an emergency call tonight collided here in the logan section of philadelphia. they were responding to the report of a shooting and broad but it turned out to be someone setting off fireworks. the police officer struck each other on the 1300 on taber avenue and fortunately no one was injured. kathleen kane will officially step down as pennsylvania attorney general tomorrow. last night a jury found her guilty of a criminal conspiracy to leak secret grand jury information as pay back in a political vendetta and lying about it under oath kane was the first woman ever elected to the state's top law enforcement post and says her efforts to break up what she called an old boys network in state government was the reason she was prosecuted

that people were trying to silence her her investigate porn gate led to resignation of officials including two state supreme court justices however the judge would not allow her to use that as a defense at trial. now kane faces up to 7 years in prison for perjury and plans to appeal the conviction. her short outgoing resignation statement reads quote i have been honored to serve the people of pennsylvania and wish them health and safety in all their days. second in command bruce castor will take over as acting attorney general once kane resigns tomorrow. he is a republican and is something of a full circle coincidence served as montgomery da the same office which prosecuted kathleen kane. a wild war of words has erupted between the former mayor nutter and who keeps employees accountable and all over allegations about how 400,000

was spend and we are live at city hall and what is being scrutinized is the philadelphia marathon and that trip to rome to see the pope. >> that is absolutely right and nutter is calling him a liar and a snake after he accused he and the staff after misusing the milt marathon dollars as a slush, fund. more than 400,000 generated from the philadelphia marathon may have been used inappropriately. that is according to the city controllers audit and they are part of the fund met for projects that benefit the entire city instead it went to 52000 hotel stay, 82 shoes at macys and three open bar event. >> decision was made to circumvent the city process. >> reporter: city controller allen claims nutter and staff did not go through the proper channels particularly when a 45,000 trip to rome was flagged. >> it was to promote the city as a tourist attraction and center for the papal visit and why go

rick. >> a delaware woman eye accused of throwing bleach at a mother and toddler under arrest and under bail and lataka mason surrendered today and troopers say back on august four she got in an argument on the target on 1,000 block of brandywine parkway and the argument concerning a shopping cart blocking the aisle and escalated when investigators say mason grabbed the bottle of breach and poured it on the other one and some bleach splahed on the child. a 66-year-old staffed to death by wife of 41 years and police called on the 100 valley park south in bethlehem sunday and found roger dead from multiple stab wounds, his wife 58-year-old kathleen was taken into custody. court documents revealed that she confesses to the murder saying she became enraged after

her husband told her he didn't need her any more and was kicking her out of their apartment. police from delaware county continue to investigate the theft of 40,000 worth of bikes and gear belonging to war heros. it happened friday night as staff and volunteers with the wounded warrior project were in town for the annual soldier ride event but someone stole a u-haul truck containing hybrid and recumbent bikes to help them get around and engage in communities. investigators have been checking local bike shops in hopes of tracking down the missing gear. 81 private stores in pennsylvania permission to sell wine under new law that took effect last week and approved the permit so far out of 174 requests and expects to grant licenses later this week for companies that want to ship wine directly to customers. under the family who had gone hungry got a helping hand

i've gotten here in a landslide and see what happens. >> in milwaukee and stemming from a shooting of an armed black man by a black police officer over the weekend and trump said that law an order must be respected. health check at 11:00 and turns out that college students are getting an education in alcohol use. a new government report today reveals that more college students admit to regularly drinking and bilge drinking than their peers who don't go to college. the survey covered 21 million americans ages 18-22 and nearly six and ten full time college students said they had alcohol in the past month and half who were not enrolled and 38% of college goers admitted to bilge drinking compared to 33% of non-college students, more college students also said they had used cocaine. metrologist cecily tynan is back to find out what is on tap in the weather world.

>> going to be hot again. no but it won't be quite as humid as today in philadelphia and areas north so there is a little relief on the way but the heat wave continues. >> take what we can get after a full week of this storm tracker six live double scan showing we do have some scattered downpours breaking out parts of lancaster and burkes county and this is ahead of a cold front that is moving through tonight so we have a pretty good heavy downpour right over albertson and generally moving to the east, northeast at 30 miles per hour no lightning strikes with this, nothing severe but what is a boundary that will bring slightly lower humidity to parts of our region tomorrow. now though the heat index shows you it's still stifling and still feels like 97 degrees in philadelphia this late at night. feels 93 wilmington and millville and 93 trenton. you can see though the areas that had gotten some showers and thunderstorms earlier this evening feels quite a bit better

there with a heat index in the mid 70s. satellite 6 along with action radar showing here is the system that is pulling through, it's a cold front, not really a lot of cold air behind it temperatures will still be in the 90s but will provide a wind shift again for parts of our region but tomorrow morning you step outside and head out to work it's going to be very humid. bright sunshine, warm at 6:00, 78 degrees by 8:00, 80 degrees but i want to show you what happens with the dew points as we head through the day. future tracker showing 8:30 in the morning and dew points across the board in the 70s. as we head through the day we get slightly drier air to mix down from the north. by 6:00 philadelphia areas to the north dew points in the upper 60s and areas to the south dew points in the 70s that is the higher humidity so it's going to feel a little bit better again for philadelphia and areas to the north but still in the heat wave 92 degrees tomorrow that marks day 8 the longest heat wave of the year and it's going to be close,

could continue on thursday with a high around 90 degrees and it will be a little bit on the muggy side. if you are on the beaches tomorrow it will be hot, no sea breeze it will be humid. delaware beach is 91 and new jersey 88 degrees. if you are heading to the atlantic city air show drink lots of water, it's going to be a hot day. so the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast hot, humid and not quite as oppressive and 92 degrees. thursday, friday, saturday, sunday forecasting highs near 90 degrees if we hit that that will make it 12 days in the heat wave, sunday night and monday some thunderstorm and that is with the cold front, that finally brings us real relief on tuesday, tuesday mostly sunny, low humidity and seasonable temperatures with a high of 85 degrees but again this heat wave has the potential to last 12 days but the good news is the worst of the heat wave last saturday is now over so it's
