yorkers run for their lives after an explosion in a popular chelsea neighborhood. we hear from those who were there when the device went off. >> storms are popping up across the delaware valley. meteorologist chris sowers is at the "action news" big board with a look at accuweather. >> reporter: storms with much-needed rain. finally the city of philadelphia is 4 inches in a definite sit over the last couple of months. we need wet weather, looks like we'll get some over the next 24 hours. temperatures have warmed up. 76 in philadelphia. higher dewpoints it feels uncomfortable. 79 in millville. 80 for dover, 81 atlantic city. cape may, 79. note the wind direction out of the south that's what's happening to increase the dewpoints. anytime you get a wind out of the south or southeast or southwest you can expect the dewpoints to increase. that's pretty much what we're seeing right now. we went from comfortabley cool to down right stifling. very, very sticky.

bob brooks is live with all the details. bob, what can you tell us? >> reporter: nydia and gray, good morning just a night filled with violence, four separate shooting scenes and once again philadelphia police officers were fired at. luckily neither were hit. just after midnight, two philadelphia police officers are fired at again this time on south street. detectives say two officers approached two suspects ealdzly getting high -- allegedly getting high on the corner. >> smoking would appear to be marijuana appeared and smelled like marijuana. >> reporter: when officers went to confront the pair they ran. >> four shots by one of the males that was corned in the back of the -- cornered in the back of the area where there is fenced in, bricked in yards. >> reporter: neither officer was hit nor did they shoot. >> police did not discharge their weapons during the confrontation they were able to

safely effect an arrest of the two suspects. >> reporter: this comes after a rampage in west philadelphia where police sergeant sylvia young was shot at by a madman a staggering 18 times. that suspect was killed by police, but not before he shot another officer in the leg. the crime spree continues, a 22-year-old man is shot in the arm lying on street. in port richmond, three people are shot at the castor club parking lot. one man hit ten times. two men were robbed sitting in their car around 430. the driver was shot in the head, the passenger in the arm. back out live, here as for sergeant sylvia young shot at 18 times. she was struck in the arm

multiple times. she also expected to be okay. reporting live from central detectives, bob brooks, channel 6 "action news." >> police say a 25-year-old gunman who carried out a deadly rampage in west philadelphia had a long criminal record. police shot and killed nicholas glen after he shot at sylvia young 18 times as she salt in the patrol -- as she sat in the patrol car. >> she was struck quite a few times, fortunately at least one or two were lodged in her living vest. she took rounds to the arm. >> as bob just mentioned, sergeant young recovering in the hospital. after shooting young glen wounded four civilians and pennsylvania university police officer one civilian has died the others are expected to survive. glen left a letter that described his hatred of police and parole officer.
