under investigation for allegedly bringing a prostitute into the unit's headquarters on east state street, a location separate from police headquarters. >> it is an active investigation involving special personnel matters. until they are dealt with at the mercer county prosecutors office i am not at liberty to talk about it. >> allegedly a member of the k-9 unit brought a prostitute into the unit concealing her from cameras but her presence was not missed by cameras inside. >> were the officers involved now on active duty or desk duty? >> i can't even go into this right now. >> the story was uncovered when the prostitute was jailed for an unrelated offense and reached

it includes references to a late indicate leader linked to a series of attacked in the u.s. we'll have more on the investigation and the affect it is having on a busy weekend in our area. police say that what they thought was a late night hit and run in philadelphia may have started with a robbery at midnight. a man was found with serious head wounds in the parking lot of the wells fargo center at bustleton, once thought to be the victim, police say that the man tried to rob another man and his family trying to use the atm and that the suspect is behind at least one other armed robbery in the city's point breeze section, police are trying to track down those responsible for a gun battle in broad daylight. the shots were fired at the corner of 19th and wharton streets. three people were caught in the middle. bob brooks live with the latest

on the investigation. >> reporter: good evening, we know that two of these victims didn't have anything to do with the shooting at all. they were not connected and innocent bystanders and one was a mother and when she was shot she was carrying her 10-month-old baby. for three years, gary the owner of the pharmacy coffee shop, calls the intersection of 18th and wharton home. we are making it as safe as possible inside and out. >> and with all that happened yesterday is heart breaking. >> we deal with a shooting like this once a year it seems like. >> almost 40 bullets were fired and detectives say that innocent people were caught in the crossfire. one woman struck in the arm carrying the 10-month-old baby. >> the baby's head and torso was probably just inches from where

the first 6 abc weather balloon and demonstrate the role they play in every single forecast. >> all right we are in the process of blowing up our 6 abc weather balloon and these are used across the globe to gather important information that is used in weather forecasting and this is going to go really high and get really big as well. >> it goes up about 100,000 feet to the edge of the stratosphere and the pay load with this, there are 800 launches twice a day across the world and we are doing our own tomorrow morning, that collects data and we find out what will happen in the future with the weather models we talk about. >> and as this goes up in the atmosphere so this guy will get to be 25 feet in diameter by the time is reached the stratosph e stratosphere. >> it takes two hours to rise and then it get there's and

pops. >> and then this guy the parachute brings it down to earth and it only takes 25 minutes to reach the surface and then we can find it. this is the pay load, it's amazing that we have all of this instrumentation, and this is a pound and a half, it has to be light to be pulled up by the weather balloon, this is the gps, that allows us to find it after it falls to the earth and it records wind speed and wind direction. this is something that typically we don't have on weather balloons but this is the go pro, this is so we can show the "action news" viewer what's it looks like. >> you can see it going up through the atmosphere, it records temperature and pressure, because not only do you have to know the temperature and pressure at earth where we live and play and where we are standing and especially in the winter months we have to look at the profile through the atmosphere and that determines whether we see a mixture of snow

or sleet or freezing rain and that gathers the information. >> this is how it does it, this is the in-flight computer designed by someone that works for the international space station and that can actually record temperatures as low as 76 farenheit below 0. we get all the information and it's put in the computers and that is part of how we develop weather forecasts. >> it takes two hours going up and collects the data going up not done and we find the great information and get to show it to you live tomorrow on "action news." >> i think it's fascinating how the equipment that collects the data is very sophisticated. we have an in-flight computer and gps but the method of delivering it into the atmosphere is so simple. it's just a balloon, the first

on health check, fitness trackers may see like an easy way to lose weight but they may not live up to their claims. ali gorman joins us to explain. >> reporter: the idea is they track how much you move on motivate you to move more and lose weight. but researchers at the university of pittsburgh for some people they were better off without them. they followed nearly 500 people struggling with their weight and put on a lower calorie diet and told to exercise, after six

time now for accuweather at the "action news" big board. cecily tynan is here to tell us how things shape up for the evening and the rest of the week. >> today very warm and humid as well. sky 6 hd taking a look at atlantic city, and as expected, a lot of clouds along the shore in the meantime, farther to the north and west. brighter skies and a live look taking a look from the pagoda at reading and because of that temperatures are warmer to the north and west. reading 82 and allentown 84 and philadelphia partly cloudy skies and 81 and cape may with the thick cloud cover, 75 degrees and atlantic city airport 76. satellite 6 along with action radar showing the front that moved through last night essentially stalled because of the remnants of tropical storm julia kind of hung it up and we have quite a bit of cloud cover and some breaks in the lehigh valley and the poconos. tonight is another warm night,

another humid night, there could be areas of patchy fog developing and cape may 69 and wilmington 65 and allentown 59 degrees, tomorrow we see a mixture of clouds and sunshine and it will be a little less humid and it's going to be warmer and by noon 82 degrees and by 2:00 and 4:00 temperatures up into the mid-80s, so temperatures run 10 degrees above normal and that continues right through the weekend. tropical satellite shows two systems now, tropical storm lisa was formed and maximum winds 45 miles per hour. and lisa is no threat to land but the bigger threat is tropical storm karl and that is strengthening moving towarded the berl out. it starts to head toward the island and as it does, it will be strengthening, so when it

passes close to bermuda, likely just to the east, early on saturday, it could be near category 2 hurricane strength so even if it's not a direct hit it will have a big impact and then it heads out to sea. no impact for us but if you head to bermuda this weekend you may want to rethink your plans. a high of 86 degrees on wednesday and thursday when fall arrives, doesn't feel like it and 88 degrees and a high of 88 on friday, but as we head through the weekend temperatures stepping down, saturday for the temple homecoming is 80 and sunday for the eagles feeling like football weather, adam will let you know if that sticks around in the accuweather forecast. >> quick break.

air farther off the coast. then the high splits here on thursday, and that is not a bad thing here. we'll have a lot of sunshine here on thursday, fall arrives at 10:21 in the morn and again not feeling like it. with temperatures of 56 degrees and we are awaiting this front and high pressure north of this front to come in on saturday night and sunday to bring a cool blast of fall air from eastern and central canada, so there will eventually be a switch to more comfortable and seasonable temperatures. as we look at the exclusive accuweather forecast two 86's back to back and comes back up with no signs of fall on thursday and tropically humid on friday, 88 is the high temperature and the front starts to push in on saturday and not a lot of moisture with it. so saturday sun and clouds and 80 degrees and eventually feeling drier with the humidity
