ends with more rain. double scan live showing the system that continues to pull in moisture from the atlantic. we're getting a break now but if you look here you can see this batch of showers and thunderstorms off the coast of the carolinas. that's moving north. so that will be moving through here in the overnight hours into early saturday. that will bring us another round of rain. how much rain you got really depends on your location. north of philadelphia it wasn't that much. one to 2 inches but also a you head farther to the southwest more and more rain and areas in sussex county and southern kent county delaware seven to 12-inches of rain and that has caused a lot of creeks and roads to flood so a flood warning has been posted until 6:30 for most of kent county delaware and sussex county. if you're heading to dover, big race weekend, do be careful driving there. the good news is as we head through the weekend the weather will be improving but it's going to be a gradual process. so, this is what to expect the

next 24 hours saturday is looking raw, damp and dreary. the steady round of rain again late tonight into early tomorrow morning. it will be breezy but not as windy as it has been, winds generally out of the northeast 10 to 20 miles per hour. we have to wait until sunday to see some peeks of sunshine but sunday is looking a lot better than saturday. we just got the latest in from the national hurricane center on matthew. this storm is now a category four hurricane. this is a major hurricane, the first major hurricane in the caribbean since sandy and this could threaten the u.s. next week. i'll talk more about matthew coming up in the full accuweather forecast. monica and rick. >> thank you cecily. >> thanks cecily. >> new at 5:00 police and fire officials say heavy rain may have caused this building collapse in downtown wilmington. the building is home -- it's home to a property management company in the 900 block of walnut street. it happened sometime this morning before anyone arrived for work. sources tell "action news" that crews were working on a lot next door and the wet

weather may have caused the ground to weaken. >> also new at 5:00 a sinking situation in the lehigh valley. tonight three homes are condemned and six blocks have been evacuated after a street began to cave in in bethlehem. affected areas centers around the 700 block of north new street less than half a mile from the town's historic district and that's where "action news reporter bob brooks is live with the full story. bob. >> reporter: rick, good evening. the ground was getting out below the road and that caused the pipes to split and that includes the gas lines. that is why so many people had to be evacuated. behind me you can see crews are busy here working. we've been out here all day and so have they. they wander to get that gas -- those gallons lines fixed. the water and gas back on and unfortunately we are hearing that three homes have been condemned. three homes are now condemned, their foundations are sinking, the walls visibly splitting. dozen also more had to be evacuated. the ground beneath the 700 block of north new street in

bethlehem was sinking. the pipes in the ground the water and more importantly the gas had severed. >> it's a cause for concern. i'm a little considered about where the sinkhole ends. >> reporter: that's pat deluva. she lived on new street for many years and has never seen anything like this. >> i was evacuated yesterday morning. >> reporter: it started early yesterday when neighbors called the city after gas filled the air. >> we found in there was -- there's voids under the street causing the gas line and water line to break. >> reporter: once city engineers realized several portions of the ground below were eroding a three block radius was evacuated. >> i have a company out doing some ground penetrating radar to check the extent of the voids are before we can say it's safe. >> reporter: city officials say this isn't one giant sinkhole, that the ground underneath the road broke apart in several section center city. that's why the piping underneath is cracked in several sections. why it might take a little while to get everything patched up.

children were trapped inside. today hundreds of mourners came to saint elizabeth's catholic church. many remembered them as heroes. >> we don't care day or night what time of year cold hot we go in and do our job. i mean we're firefighters. >> i think just by the turnout here in wilmington that you're seeing that he was a respected and honored man and he died doing what he he loved to do. >> police say the fire that killed those firefighters was deliberately set. 28-year-old beatriz fana ruiz faces several charges for the crime including murder. >> to the latest on yesterday's deadly train crash in new jersey. federal investigators say they wander to interview anyone who saw that crash happen in person and hopes of finding out just what went wrong. more than a dozen people remain hospitalized in north jersey he two in intensive care. now the focus is on recovering as much data from the train as possible a process that could take at least a week. rob nelson from our sister station wabc has more on this

investigation. >> reporter: these are new pictures we obtained today showing the extent of the damage inside the hoboken station. damage that has made it difficult for investigators to even safely get to the train cars. despite all the wreckage though officials have already recovered one of two data recorders that along with train video cameras should provide critical details. >> the video is outward facing so we'll be able to see the train approaching. we'll able to see if there was anything in the way of the train. the event recorder we hope if it's in good condition, if it's recording the type of information will show us the speed and the breaking actionism officials say the train's engineer, 29 year new jersey transit veteran thomas gallagher is cooperating with authorities. what he was doing in the 72 hours prior to the crash will be a major focus though there's no immediate indication that drugs or alcohol played a role. >> we shouldn't be jumping to any conclusions at the moment about what happened and why it happened 'cause we just don't

know. >> reporter: sources say the train was traveling three times the 10 miles per hour speed limit when it entered the station eventually ramming into the platform and going airborne into a waiting area collapsing part of the roof. 114 people were hurt an 34-year-old mother fabiola bittar de kroon was killed by debris as she stood on the platform. meantime the new jersey transit part of the hoboken station remained closed today frustrating some commuters. >> instead of being an hour and a half commute it was a three hour commute. >> the investigation is obviously extremely important and that takes priority and unfortunately they're not going to be able to open up the heavy rail for right now. >> reporter: out of all of the injuries from yesterday's tracheide only seven people remain in the hospital tonight, one of them in intensive care and again the ntsb expected to provide a major update on the investigation. that's coming up at about 5:30 this afternoonly reporting in hoboken rob nelson channel6 "action news." >> well, the rain didn't stop large gathering outside of hahnemann university hospital

behind us. yesterday philadelphia had a peak wind gust of 39 miles per hour. now it's still breezy out there but winds generally about six to 17 miles per hour out of the northeast and when you get that northeasterly flow he that persistent wind kind of piling up the water along the coast you do get the coastal flooding so coastal flood advisory posted for tonight. the next high tide along the coast between 8:00 and 9:30 looks like we'll have some minor coastal flooding yet again before the storm system finally lifts out. satellite6 along with action radar showing look at the spin over kentucky. that's that low pressure. it can't move to the east so what it will do tomorrow, it will weaken and it will move up to the north and eventually move away from us to the northeast. so what this means, our weather will be improving over the weekend but we've got another round of some steady rain moving through overnight. future tracker showing tomorrow morning around 7:30 you can see this area of some heavy rain across south

man. officer betty shelby did not say anything at her first court appearance here other than acknowledging her name. shelby is charged in the death of terrence crutcher. prosecutors allege shelby acted unreasonably when she shot the 40-year-old crutcher after she encountered his vehicle abandoned on the street. a 14-year-old boy suspectd in a school shooting is charged as a juvenile with murder and attempted murder many police say the teen killed his own father then drove to the elementary school where he allegedly shot two students and a teach or the playground. a six-year-old boy remains hospitalized on life support according to his family. a judge ordered the suspect to stay in custody during his first court appearance today. in world news tonight with david muir much more on those attorneys the latest from the campaign trail. you can watch that following "action news" at 6:00. >> in other news a man tried to rob a bank in north philadelphia but he left empty handed. now police are hoping to identify him. take a look at these surveillance photos of the suspect taken yesterday

jackpot rainfalls since wednesday. we've received close to 5-inches of rain in middletown township and cape cape may coun. black bird and smyrna in new castle county over 5-inches of rainfall. dover kent county 7.31-inches of rain and milford just to the south of dover over 10-inches of rain since wednesday morning and expecting to add a little bit more to that number as we go into later tonight early saturday morning. very raw with those winds out of the east-northeast. it's been very persistent here the last few days with temperatures in the afternoon only in the upper 50 north and west of philadelphia. low 60's for the city and mid to up upper 60's in sun areas. we're tracking this at the beginning of the week over the great lakes. it will slowly drift to the north but the winds continue to funnel in from the ocean to that low pressure center so there's another round of heavy
