next 24 hours saturday is looking raw, damp and dreary. the steady round of rain again late tonight into early tomorrow morning. it will be breezy but not as windy as it has been, winds generally out of the northeast 10 to 20 miles per hour. we have to wait until sunday to see some peeks of sunshine but sunday is looking a lot better than saturday. we just got the latest in from the national hurricane center on matthew. this storm is now a category four hurricane. this is a major hurricane, the first major hurricane in the caribbean since sandy and this could threaten the u.s. next week. i'll talk more about matthew coming up in the full accuweather forecast. monica and rick. >> thank you cecily. >> thanks cecily. >> new at 5:00 police and fire officials say heavy rain may have caused this building collapse in downtown wilmington. the building is home -- it's home to a property management company in the 900 block of walnut street. it happened sometime this morning before anyone arrived for work. sources tell "action news" that crews were working on a lot next door and the wet

weather may have caused the ground to weaken. >> also new at 5:00 a sinking situation in the lehigh valley. tonight three homes are condemned and six blocks have been evacuated after a street began to cave in in bethlehem. affected areas centers around the 700 block of north new street less than half a mile from the town's historic district and that's where "action news reporter bob brooks is live with the full story. bob. >> reporter: rick, good evening. the ground was getting out below the road and that caused the pipes to split and that includes the gas lines. that is why so many people had to be evacuated. behind me you can see crews are busy here working. we've been out here all day and so have they. they wander to get that gas -- those gallons lines fixed. the water and gas back on and unfortunately we are hearing that three homes have been condemned. three homes are now condemned, their foundations are sinking, the walls visibly splitting. dozen also more had to be evacuated. the ground beneath the 700 block of north new street in

bethlehem was sinking. the pipes in the ground the water and more importantly the gas had severed. >> it's a cause for concern. i'm a little considered about where the sinkhole ends. >> reporter: that's pat deluva. she lived on new street for many years and has never seen anything like this. >> i was evacuated yesterday morning. >> reporter: it started early yesterday when neighbors called the city after gas filled the air. >> we found in there was -- there's voids under the street causing the gas line and water line to break. >> reporter: once city engineers realized several portions of the ground below were eroding a three block radius was evacuated. >> i have a company out doing some ground penetrating radar to check the extent of the voids are before we can say it's safe. >> reporter: city officials say this isn't one giant sinkhole, that the ground underneath the road broke apart in several section center city. that's why the piping underneath is cracked in several sections. why it might take a little while to get everything patched up.

children were trapped inside. today hundreds of mourners came to saint elizabeth's catholic church. many remembered them as heroes. >> we don't care day or night what time of year cold hot we go in and do our job. i mean we're firefighters. >> i think just by the turnout here in wilmington that you're seeing that he was a respected and honored man and he died doing what he he loved to do. >> police say the fire that killed those firefighters was deliberately set. 28-year-old beatriz fana ruiz faces several charges for the crime including murder. >> to the latest on yesterday's deadly train crash in new jersey. federal investigators say they wander to interview anyone who saw that crash happen in person and hopes of finding out just what went wrong. more than a dozen people remain hospitalized in north jersey he two in intensive care. now the focus is on recovering as much data from the train as possible a process that could take at least a week. rob nelson from our sister station wabc has more on this

know. >> reporter: sources say the train was traveling three times the 10 miles per hour speed limit when it entered the station eventually ramming into the platform and going airborne into a waiting area collapsing part of the roof. 114 people were hurt an 34-year-old mother fabiola bittar de kroon was killed by debris as she stood on the platform. meantime the new jersey transit part of the hoboken station remained closed today frustrating some commuters. >> instead of being an hour and a half commute it was a three hour commute. >> the investigation is obviously extremely important and that takes priority and unfortunately they're not going to be able to open up the heavy rail for right now. >> reporter: out of all of the injuries from yesterday's tracheide only seven people remain in the hospital tonight, one of them in intensive care and again the ntsb expected to provide a major update on the investigation. that's coming up at about 5:30 this afternoonly reporting in hoboken rob nelson channel6 "action news." >> well, the rain didn't stop large gathering outside of hahnemann university hospital

rain developing off the carolinas and this will work up the eastern seaboard here late tonight. future tracker through 11 o'clock so if you're hitting the town again you're going to need the wind shield wipers every now and then intermittent with some of those spotty showers and drizzle. as we get into early saturday morning heavy rain starts to push back in especially south and east of philadelphia. that lifts away tomorrow afternoon but still low clouds on and off showers, some drizzle around. that continues saturday night into sunday morning. but by sunday early afternoon this is 1:30 we start to rip the clouds apart finally and some brightening to the sky just before the weekend ends. down in dover, nascar, they he got some of the races in today. drizzle and showers for today, tomorrow at 74 degrees and then looks like no bumps in the road here sunday, partly sunny with a temperature of 78. hurricane matthew now a category four dangerous hurricane, winds sustained 140 miles an hour. it is way to the south,

farther south than most hurricanes will track. this is colombia in south america right here and you can see the center of that storm where that classic eye developing just meaning that the winds are really funneling around the send of that storm helping to really spin it up and it will stay as a category four through the day tomorrow and then could weaken but still a major hurricane to hit the eastern part of jamaica monday afternoon winds sustained 120 miles an hour. the eastern part of jamaica and as it passes by cuba on tuesday afternoon very mountainous. that will help to weaken matthew a bit but then it heads towards the bahamas on wednesday. thereafter too early to call. we'll watch that. if it comes up the eastern seaboard or if it hooks out to sea something we'll following here early next week. the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast dreary he tomorrow 69. brightening to the sky on sunday afternoon of 75 degrees. and very warm for october. 7 degrees above normal on monday with sun and clouds and looking pretty good tuesday
