we have no reports or details of injuries but we are hearing from neighbors on the ground two people had to be rescued. this is a report of an explosion in trenton as chopper 6 hd gives us the pictures at 48 wayne avenue. no word if evacuations is underway or other structures are evacuated. now to the latest on hurricane matthew with word that florida could face their biggest evacuation ever. evacuations are already underway in several southern states and the storm is battering the bahamas, but there is good news. the outlook here in our region is getting better. it's wednesday afternoon i'm brian taff. >> the track of hurricane matthew makes its way toward the united states. that is the big story. meteorologist, adam joseph, at the "action news" big board with the latest track.

right now it's shaping up to be good news for our area. >> reporter: there has been a major shift in the track to the south. but really bad news for the southern states of florida as well as georgia and the carolinas. right now it is a category 3 hurricane winds sustained at 120 miles per hour. it is just to the west of the turks and caicos north of cuba, heading into the central part of the bahamas. you see earlier today the classic eye with the hurricane matthew. the eye is starting to fall apart here maybe going through a reconstruction phase, so to speak, this happens with major hurricanes and another eye wall will flair up eventually as it heads to the north and west and could deepen further. yesterday the track with all the models had it going directly up the eastern seaboard because it was being picked up by a trough from the west. but that trough is weaker now

suppressing this storm. so the track has shifted 500 miles in 24 hours. now it will make it as far north as charleston, south carolina, and move east and move out to sea and maybe make a loop back to florida in the middle part of the next week. it could drift in those southern areas for quite sometime. a major hurricane is heading for florida. landfall near cape canaveral is likely. the first major hurricane since wilma to make lan fall. it's affecting shore lines from miami and jackson fall to all points north where hurricane warnings are in effect. we'll let you know what it means for our weekend coming up in a little bit. >> thank you. with all of this information coming in, millions of people across the south are preparing

for matthew's impact. both mandatory and voluntary evacuations went into effect in parts of florida, georgia and the carolinas. florida's governor, rick scott, says the vakeation could reach historic proportions. residents are stocking up on plywood and facing long lines to fill up the gas tanks. president barack obama wants to make sure people are taking the warnings seriously. >> you can always rebuild and repair property. you cannot restore life if it is lost and we want to make sure we minimize any possible loss of life. >> meanwhile, matthew left hint catastrophic damage in haiti. at least five people died during the storm. the 145 miles per hour winds tore through towns and rain washed out roads and communications are nonexistent in many poorer areas there.

their 50s. >> they brought them out and started cpr immediately. i'm sad to announce we lost both of them. >> it was reported at 11:45 and declared under control 45 minutes later. investigators remained on the scene and the focus appeared to be on the rear of the house. neighbor ed says he knew the couple in the house for years and just yesterday returned home. >> they just took their daughter up to new york because she goes to college up there. and i was talking to them as soon as they came back. you know they were saying it was a great trip no accidents no nothing and now this -- >> reporter: so a sad day here on the street in bustleton and investigators are still here and authorities are not released the

name of the the deceased couple pending notification of next of kin. autopsies are ordered but not clear if they are performed yet. >> all right john, thank you. a bucks county middle school student is facing charges for posting threats online. the student posted about schools in bensalem township. he made an instagram account called the bensalem clown and showed a clown and a knife and needle and said we are coming to schneider and bensalem tic tock. a horse was saved in chester county. the clydesdale was stuck to its neck in a drinking pond. the horse was sedated and monitored during the rescue and

we want to get back to breaking news we started this newscast with. chopper 6 hd flying live in trenton at this hour. and this is what we know. trenton police are called in for a report of an explosion. that call came in about one hour ago. this is happening at 46-48 wayne

avenue this is a twin home. the explosion came from the area and the twin home is tilting off its base and has crumbling debris around it. we know at this hour that the block has been evacuated. neighbors on the ground tell us that two people who were at the structure had to be rescued from inside. the two people are taken to the hospital we are waiting for more information on how the people are doing. but again, trenton police and trenton fire on the scene of what appears to be a natural gas explosion. the call came in one hour ago and left this twin home damaged and off its base. we are of course are continuing to watch this story as it develops, we'll bring you more as we get it. >> in the meantime black friday shopping hours are at the center of debate the past few years. the mall of america says they will be closed on thanksgiving

interested with business and engineering and computer science degree. >> it seems strange we are talking about the hurricane and the weather battering the united states meanwhile here a beautiful day. lets head to meteorologist, adam joseph, with our forecast and keeping an eye on matthew. >> especially for the coast of florida, georgia and south carolina, but locally it's a gorgeous afternoon. full sunshine for most of the delaware valley and a lot of clouds this afternoon and baby blue sky here, all things looking good here midweek. temperature-wise we are in the 70s where the sun is out. 72 allentown and reading and 70 in philadelphia, and down the south where the cloudses are thicker, hard to break. temperatures only in the mid-60s from the shore to vineland as well as dover. as we look at satellite and radar, the wind that locked the clouds in the last couple of days it's beginning to ease a bit and can you see the

trajectory off the water with the cloud cover and more sunshine all points to the north and west. for tonight a mixture of clouds and stars, more clouds south and stars to the north and areas of fog developing again and if have you seen fog the last couple of mornings expect it again tomorrow morning. chilly temperatures by tomorrow morning and seasonable for this time of year. sun and a few clouds a nice afternoon and temperatures pretty much everywhere running everywhere above average. 75 philadelphia and allentown 76 and 73 in millville and along the shore temperatures in the upper 60s. we are looking at the visible satellite imagery of hurricane matthew, the eye of the storm is there working through the central and southern parts of the bahamas. you see how wide the cloud shield is with this storm. tropical storm force winds hundreds of miles on either side of that eye wall. so winds sustained 120 miles per hour moving to the northwest a little quicker than it has been

the last few days at 12 miles per hour. expected to strengthen back to a category 4 right around cape canaveral, florida. winds sustained 130 miles per hour and a bizarre track, typically they head inland and weaken and this will ride the coastline and affect shore towns georgia and south carolina and north carolina saturday morning as a category 12, as we track the wins, we see how wide and large the storm is. in the yellow tropical storm force winds over 39 miles per hour sustained and in the orange 74 that is hurricane strength or better. hitting vero beach and cape canaveral and daytona beach and hugs towards savannah. hurricane force winds in south carolina and possibly seen north carolina as we go into the weekend and then this heads out to sea and could wrap back into towards florida at the middle of

"action news" continues with a new crack down on uber and lift in philadelphia. >> plus police in delaware hunt a pair that may be front porch package thieves and the contractor jailed for the 2013 center city building collapse has a major organization in his corner. but first at 4:30, police are trying to solve a double shooting in allentown that left one teen dead and another wounded. they were shot when someone fired into their car. walter perez is live in allentown with the details. >> reporter: hey brian, witnesses say that the whole thing happened at 9:00 last night and today we spoke to the family and friends of the 17-year-old victim who died and as you imagine they are devastated. >> nora says that the pain of losing 17-year-old johnny lopez is unbearable. she say family friend who lopez

called grandma. she says the world lost something special when johnny was murdered last night. she says that just yesterday they all went to her granddaughter birthday yesterday and he was hugging all the kids and told me he loved me very much. that was the kind of person he was. hours later he was in his car with a female passenger at ninth and liberty street when someone opened fire on the vehicle. lopez and his passenger were both shot. it shows the vehicle careening into the pole, paramedics arrived at the scene where they pronounced him dead. the gunman got away on foot and remains on the loose tonight. we spoke to the victim's classmates from high school who described johnny lopez as a hard working student that kept to

himself. >> he was normally doing his work a lot. that is how i saw him. he stood to himself occasionally talked but not much. >> all of his family and friends are left to wonder who could have done such a thing. >> she says, quote i don't know why this happened i don't know who did this, but if i knew i would tell you, i would tell everyone. >> the 15-year-old victim was shot in the leg and remains hospitalized at this time. anyone with information is asked to call the allentown police department. walter perez, channel 6 "action news." >> an awful loss thank you walter. turning now to meteorologist,a agdam joseph he to talk about the weather. >> the sunshine is in control and hanging on at the shore communities but not too bad. we look at sky 6 hd in center city. 71 degrees and a couple of clouds here and there. and the dew point is comfortable at 51 and winds from the

east-southeast at 8 miles per hour. and with the wind off the water still cloudy, shore communities as you see here a lot of gray in cape may and the temperature cooler at 64 with the calm wind and pretty decent breakers there at the shore with the ocean temperature sitting at 68 degrees presently. hurricane matthew with winds sustained at 128 miles per hour downgraded from a category 4 to category 3, this could be temporary as it looks to restrengthen late tonight and tomorrow before it goes to the coast of florida as it now enters the bahamas. we have in the accuweather forecast the latest track from the national hurricane center which yesterday we started to tell you about the shift in the track heading more out to sea. the track has shifted big time and could do a loop deloop off the coast of the carolinas and florida. kind of battering their coastline and i will let you know how strong it could be towards the end of the week.

>> an incredible storm. >> thanks adam. from our delaware newsroom newcastle county police are looking for these men in connection with package thefts. a resident on the 3700 block of green street called police to say someone took a package from his front steps at 5:00 yesterday. while the officer was there, another neighbor said it happened to them too. anyone with information should give police a call. zblm well, delaware state police arrested five people in a four month investigation into illegal drugs in sussex county. david of pottstown, pennsylvania was arrested at a home where marijuana and a handgun was found. mar keys they face a variety of drug and weapons charges. the philadelphia parking authority is cracking down on the ride sharing services, uber

x and lift. they will again treat the services as illegal and begin ticketing and towing drivers. a temporary authorization has expired for the company and they are easing some regulations for taxi cab drivers after they complained that the rules were making it impossible for them to compete with ride hailing apps. the family of the demolition contractor serving 15 years in prison for the deadly building collapse. they have enlisted the lawyer for the naacp. campbell who was found guilty, should not shoulder the criminal blame for the collapse, the properties owner, the architect and owners and others were actually calling the shots. >> everything we can see griffin campbell was not an expert but

this satellite picture as it moves over the island. social media is abuzz over it, saying it kind of looks like a skull with a real eye and even teeth down there. meteorologist posted it and it's retweeted like crazy. he called the face sinister looking and some compared to the scary looking clowns that seem to be popping up everywhere. and finally, all the buzz here locally and across the nation, fans of the tv show "gilmore girls" got their coffee fix like the girls at the show today at luke's diner pop-ups. they transformed all three of their locations like this one in radnor into luke's diner and gave out free coffee to the lines of fans. and some customers dressed like luke to celebrate the return of the popular show. see it there. the plaid is rocking. and a luke cutout that laid out the rules for the customers

a picture perfect day see if you can stretch it out. >> overall we have a nice stretch of weather on the way locally here as we get into it. as we look at stormtracker 6 live double scan a lot of sunshine across much of the area today. clouds are still lingering dover points south along the shore and clouds this afternoon and not tracking precipitation, it's cooler where the clouds are thicker from beach haven and atlantic city and cape may only in the mid-60s at this time. with the sunshine north and west temperatures responded. back into the lower 70s this afternoon and the poconos at 62. stars and clouds out there. more clouds south and to the north and patchy fog developing by morning, 44 in the suburbs, and 52 for center city. chilly night and chilly start for thursday for this point in october. the high is 75 well above

normal. 56 at 8:00 in the mornings and lots of sun and clouds into the afternoon with temperatures bouncing into the 70s just after lunch time and staying in the upper 60s at 8:00 in the evening. locally satellite and radar seeing clouds filtering in off the atlantic here and sun off to the north. as we head down to the south this is where hurricane matthew is, we see the circulation now entering the southern bahamas. miami and parts of jackson fill seeing showers and not necessarily, it's a part of matthew but just moisture with it wrapping around the circulation since it is so broad. as we look at matthew, sustained winds now 120 miles per hour. this is the very latest update as of 5:00. category 3 moving to the northwest at 12 miles per hour. it does still strengthen into a category 4 hurricane as we get into the day on friday, by friday afternoon it shows it making landfall scraping the coast of florida north of cape
