her granddaughter marcia pemberton just returned home from night shift as a nurse. she credits her grandmother's alertness for saving the entire family. >> she saved my life by screaming help and alerting me something was wrong. i saw her in the halloween -- hallway and saw the flames coming from the bedroom and the house quickly filled up with black smoke. >> pemberton guided her grandmother down the steps while her mother called 911. investigators say they had no working smoke detecter in the home. new this morning, a firefighter is hurt while fighting flames in southwest philadelphia. this happened at a house on the 6900 block of gross beak place at 2:30 a.m. the firefighter was treated at penn presbyterian hospital for minor injuries. tomorrow more than 5,000 septa employees could vote to authorize a strike and that

minutes we'll take a look at the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast which after the warmup features another cool down. >> 9:32. it is the eve of a vote that could leave most septa commuters another way to get around. thousands of septa workers could authorize a strike when they meet tomorrow morning. the strike would idle buses and the subways and trolleys by november 1 the day after the current work contract expires. the strike vote happens at 11:00 a.m. pension and healthcare changes are at the center of the contract dispute. new at 9:00 a.m., crews in new jersey rescued a woman who ran her car off the atlantic city expressway. that vehicle rolled over into a small creek in winslow township at 5:30. it took an hour to pull the woman from the partially submerged car. she is being checked out at kennedy hospital in washington township.

this morning we're learning more about what led up to the crash that killed two teenagers on the boulevard. dann cuellar talked to a witness and friends remembering the young people who tragically lost their lives. >> reporter: killed in the accident on the boulevard was 16-year-old maggie goloff maggid 19-year-old osman zeynulov. >> he was my best friend, he is a hard worker, getting back to school getting an education. >> maggie was maggie, when she came in she brightened the room. she was an awesome little girl. >> reporter: both were riding in the back seat of a hyundai being driven by a friend. the driver was rushing to temple hospital to see his father who was assaulted during a robbery. the car ran a stop signal at front street and collided with this suv driven by 35 -- 55-year-old woman. >> he ran the light he hit the lady on this light.
