>> a pleasant good morning to you, 7:00 a.m., saturday, october 22. here's some of the stories we're following on "action news," big changes we're tracking cold and rain to start off your weekend. also a suspect being chased by philadelphia police officers he's in the hospital after he was shot by officers. home coming goes on as lands at west chester university after a deal is reached to end that faculty strike. first outside we go meteorologist chris sowers and the accuweather forecast we see the umbrella and the rain jacket. it's raining, we hear it, too, chris, how long will this last? >> reporter: it will last through the morning hours and up to the midday. talk about a dramatic temperatures yesterday i was waking the leaves in the backyard i was sweating.

this morning i could use a pair of gloves. winds whipping around. you can see the heavy rains indicate bide the yellows from philadelphia south to greenwich township, mikellton and clarksboro. you look left-hand side of the screen, chadds ford, it's clear, we're seeing patchy left overdrizzle, but the steady rain has pulled away. that's the last of it. steady rain north of the pennsylvania turnpike and north of the atlantic city expressway and there's that batch in gloucester county. that's all she wrote. once that pulls through the rest of the afternoon is cloudy and damp and gusty breeze and leftover drizzle. these are stained winds out of the northwest chilly breeze, reading 18 miles per hour. 23 miles per hour in lancaster. 16 miles per hour in philadelphia. with a gust up to 25. and millville about 14 miles per

philadelphia before 4:00 a.m. this morning. police were chasing the suspect on foot not clear as to why police actually had to fire their weapons. the suspect was shot in the arm and taken to the hospital. he is in stable condition. officers took one other person into custody and questioning two others. we are told no officers were hurt. philadelphia police are investigating a deadly shooting that involved the entourage of a rap star in town for a show in powellton. a 19-year-old man got into a confrontation with the entourage inside the club. that fight spilled outside. that man was hit in the chest. we are told he died from his injuries. police recovered a gun nearby and investigators right now are searching for a the -- the rapper and his enfrawj who left the -- entourage who left the scene in a black bmw.

the strike is over for 14 university faculty members that comes after the state university system reached a tentative contract agreement with staff. jennette reyes has more on the end of the strike. >> reporter: we are west chester. >> i don't know how long the strike was going to be, i thought it would be a week or so. hearing the agreement achieved i'm excited to get back to class. >> reporter: collective sign of relief after a tentative deal was reached on day 3 of the state system first walkout in 34 years. >> i want to get back to work. >> reporter: 14 state university strike brought the semester to a halt. >> it's a sense of relief. it's the deal where both sides got things they wanted.

>> reporter: both sides thanked the governor for helping them to come to an agreement. in a statement, state officials said among other things, the agreement provides faculty with pay increases and allows the state system to realize important cost healthcare savings. withdrawn from the original proposal is a profession that would require temporary faculty to teach an additional class a semester. the deal lasts until 2018. >> this is the first time ever, i hope it's the last time. >> reporter: one thing students are concerned about is what impact the strike has on home coming which goes on today. if the strike hadn't ended in time, the band would not be able to perform. everything is running now as planned. jennette reyes, channel 6

"action news." >> chris christie continues to deny he had any knowledge of the lane closures on the george washington bridge that led to bridgegate. the governor reaffirmed his stance after an aide testified that he knew about the bridge. bridget kelly said chris christie knew about the lane closures for a month before they began. she helped plot the closures as political revenge against a mayor who would not endorse chris christie. hillary clinton will attend a campaign in philadelphia with tim kaine. clinton was in ohio yesterday where she told supporters there her republican opponent donald trump is a threat to our democracy. she was referring to trump's statement at wednesday's debate he may not concede the election if he loses. donald trump continues to

make a push in pennsylvania, he spoke to a standing room only crowd last night in newtown, montgomery county. he drove home his plans for illegal immigration and terrorism. however trump supporters tell "action news" where he scored points is are -- is on trade jobs and taxes. >> he is not going to raise taxes that's a big one. >> trump's campaign has been pushing hard in an effort to win the suburbs. polls show hillary clinton is leading the gop candidate by 4 points in the keystone state. pennsylvania senator pat toomey is enjoying support for his fight to remain in office. he was in northeast philadelphia where he picked up the endorsement of the fraternal order of police. last night toomey campaigned in bucks county. his democratic challenger katie

7:11 a.m., storms caused problems in central and western pennsylvania dumping up to 7 inches of rain in one day. a 65-year-old man was on a ladder outside his clinton county home when a tree fell and pinned him to the ground. the man died later in the hospital. in sullivan county a home was destroyed as the storm pushed water over route 87. a bridge was damaged in the flooding. in williamsport there are concerns there that thousands of gallons of spilled gasoline may is get get into the drinking water supply when an 8-inch pipeline ruptured during the storm. foibles there hope the water recedes enough to fix the break there. let's get you caught up on the local forecast here. rainy this morning. >> reporter: that's the same system we're seeing this morning, the good news it's a much weaker storm system. let's get you outside and show you what's going on, we're live

in cape may where the rain continues to fall. gray skies and patchy fog, visibility has been reduced a little bit. the big story the roads and the chilly temperatures and gusty breeze as the day wears on. we're seeing shades of green and yellows are popping up across south jersey where the heavier rains are falling. from philadelphia airport south you can see the broken line through woodbury, brooklawn, deptford mall. grass -- glassboro, moderate to heavy rain. crossing over 295 to the new jersey turnpike and swedesboro and woodstown area. once that pushes away note what's going on left-hand side of the screen not much of anything. we're seeing cloudy skies and damp roads. there's not much left of this, as it continues to pull away and lifting to the north.

waverly lane in maple shade, new jersey. the pedestrian died at the scene. the driver of the vehicle stopped nearby. so far there's no word if charges will be filed. two philadelphia police officers are okay after they were involved in a really bad wreck. this all happened around 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of germantown avenue and high street. the officers were in an unmarked police vehicle they were hit head on. we are told the driver of the other car was taken to a hospital and treated. happening today, philadelphia will be front and center for the race for the white house as the democratic nominee hillary clinton makes a stop along with her vice presidential nominee tim kaine. they plan to attend a rally at penn park at university of pennsylvania later this evening. friday clinton was in the battlegrounds state of -- battleground state of ohio. vice president joe biden hit the

police have not released a motive for the shooting. philadelphia police in west oak lane section responded to a shooting, a 53-year-old man and two 32-year-old men were shot on east walnut lane. they were rushed to einstein medical condition in stable condition. police have not released a motive or suspects. lawmakers continue to investigate the deadly train crash in hoboken, new jersey, we learned that nj transit new executive director will testify before a state legislative committee. new jersey lawmakers are threatening to use subpoena power if nj transit officials don't show up to the next hearing on november 4. the investigation continues into the september 29th crash of a train into the hoboken terminal killing a woman and injuring more than 100 people. septa has reason to

lassoed the emu. firefighters spent hours battling a massive fire at a recycling center east of los angeles last night. that fire erupted yesterday afternoon in the sprawling yard of cardboard bales and wooden pal cattle farmers say they are concerned about the dry pastures. it's costing more money to feed the herd. they worry the prolonged drought will hurt crops next year. >> no effect on our forecast. it's raining here right now. >> reporter: we did have drier than normal conditions for parts of our area, things are getting back to normal there's a lot of

rain for south jersey and delaware over the past couple of weeks, wouldn't you know it the same areas are seeing rain this morning. live on sky6 live hd down in atlantic city it's not a nice morning. it's cooler. temperatures are in the 40s and 50s, if you're in an area that's in the 50s, the winds make it feel like the 40s anyway. it's blustery and chilly and we have rain falling across south jersey and areas in the north up in the poconos. this is where the heaviest rain is falling. you can see a broken line from frankford through philadelphia. the philadelphia international airport is here, it's east at this point. pushing through wood woodbury a5 and gloucester and salem counties in south jersey. there's 42, the walt whitman bridge. heavy rain take it easy, reduce traveling speeds until this pulls through. it shouldn't be too much longer, maybe another hour or hour and a half.
