of the first lady can help her in this battleground. first wikileaks e-mails, something her campaign does not want to be dealing with with just days to go until election day. this morning, newly leaked documents casting a shadow on the clinton campaign. this 2011 memo from bill clinton's longtime aide revealing how he pressured donors to steer business opportunities to the former president after he left the white house. including paid speaking engagements that reportedly earned the clintons tens of millions of dollars. the aide describing these efforts as bill clinton inc. abc news has not independently verified the documents, the clinton campaign not commenting on individual e-mails. with days to go, hillary clinton stealing a page from donald trump's playbook attacking her opponent for taking a break from campaigning. >> donald trump is taking time off the campaign trail to officially open the hotel. >> reporter: and trying a scare

that happy about it. but, you know, when he says that women are accusing him because they want fame, nobody is ever wanted fame for sexual assault. and people are very hesitant to come forward on something like that. and he says it's been debunked but it hasn't been debunked so i think that, you know, a lot of people have trouble believing him on that front. >> okay, cokie, matt, thanks so much. much more of the interview later when i sit down with his wife melania and his children next hour. on to two powerful earthquakes that happened overnight striking the central region of italy just hours apart. this was about 50 miles north of the area where a quake killed nearly 300 people back in august. abc's llaama hasan has the scar moments. >> reporter: central italy rocked by two powerful earthquakes toppling buildings. the first quake 5.5 magnitude then just two hours later, a more powerful 6.1 magnitude.

terrified residents ran into the streets. at least 60 aftershocks throughout the night. abc's jennifer eccleston is at the scene hardest hit by the earthquakes. >> reporter: here in visso it's street after street of crumbled buildings. >> reporter: several collapsing in the town of camarino. bulldozers working around the clock as rescuers search for anyone trapped. huge boulders blocking the road, the 15th century church caught collapsing into rubble already weakened by the 6.2 earthquake in late august in the same region that killed nearly 300 people. and this morning rescuers are scouring the wreckage looking for people still trapped as the aftershocks continue to rattle the area. amy. >> all right, lama hasan, we know you'll keep us updated. back at home michael, i know we had a big night in baseball. >> big night if you're a chicago cubs fan.

we'll begin with an alarming incident that happened at a south dakota airport. a skywest airlines pilot pulled from the cockpit minutes before takeoff charged with dui after authorities smelled alcohol on his breath. and abc's david kerley joins us now. i can pretty much speak for everyone. that's an airline passenger's worst nightmare. tell us what happened. >> it is really. in fact, i talked to one passenger who was really upset. so this is a pilot who shows up for an 8:30 a.m. flight, he goes down to jetway. passengers see police down the jetway. the pilot's in the cockpit going through the preflight check with the other pilot and police arrive. how did police get tipped off? tsa officer smelled alcohol on the pilot and actually alerted police. they show up. breathalyzer, he's arrested. he's charged with operating an aircraft under the influence. he spent $300 and got out of jail yesterday, amy. >> wow. and now i remember, david, there was another incident, two united pilots in scotland were arrested

i've seen what can happen as the result of hate. my son matt was murdered in laramie, wyoming, in 1998. he was befriended by two men in a bar who pretended to be gay. they offered him a ride home, and when he was in their car, they robbed him and beat him. they drove matt out to the prairie and tied him to a split-rail fence, then beat him some more and left him for dead. in the aftermath of matt's death, my family saw the best of america in the love and support we were shown. so when i see the hate that donald trump has brought to his campaign for president, it terrifies me. i'd like to punch him in the face, i'll tell ya. ahh, i don't know what i said, uhh, i don't remember. he's a mexican. i could stand in the middle of fifth avenue and shoot somebody, and i wouldn't... words have an influence. violence causes pain. hate can rip us apart.
