tentative agreement. live at city hall tonight is "action news" reporter john rawlins and john, how did this thing get resolved? >> reporter: well, it was just the give and take of six days of negotiations. there was also high praise for representative dwight evans who was a tenacious go between but while some of the principles here want to down play they will election day issue you really can't. it loomed above the talks. the union endorsed clinton early on as we've talked about here tonight the philadelphia turnout will be key for clinton. the mayor is a democrat, the governor is democrat, frankly just no one involved here wanted to see a transit strike in philadelphia on election day. >> i feel like when they stopped the whole world just stopped. you know, like you never realize how much you depend on transportation until it was gone. >> reporter: it was returning slowly and sometimes it was hard to find your bus. >> there's a lot of repeat buses. still waiting on mine but they're running so it's good. >> reporter: deal finally struck overnight. the announcement came at 5:30 a.m.

>> we believe this agreement. we know that the strike has caused hardship for thousands of our riders and we sincerely regret this disruption. >> reporter: over the weekend both the governor and city hall signaled they were on board with septa's injunction request that it if granted would have forced strikers back by tomorrow's election. that put pressure on the union. >> we were there for a week trying to get the job done and we got it done. >> reporter: because it must be ratified no one officially talking about the settlement. but sources say it gives workers an enhanced pension which the union wanted but workers will have to pay more for health insurance which septa wanted. there will also be a pay hike. as for a fare hike one was canceled this year. it will be needed next year. >> there will be fare increases but that's in the legislation now that we have to do fare increases every, what two years -- >> three years. >> three years. >> reporter: speaking of money riders with trans passes asking. >> are we going to get refunds the for having the monthlies

crash. philadelphia police have recovered the shell of a vehicle used in to two smash and grab rob referrals -- robberies. the silver merchandise had been set on fire. remnants were found last flight on the 5100 block of bing lam street in olney. police believe this was the vehicle used in the smash and grab robbery at boyd's in center city on october 25th. investigators believe it is the same car connected to a similar robbery at a macy's in northeast philadelphia two days later. philadelphia police say christopher colon stole several laptops from hillary clinton's staffers over the weekend in northern liberties. he was arrested yesterday and charged with criminal mischief and theft. investigators say colon stole the laptops from an suv parked in the 100 block of brown street on saturday. according to police, the crime was not politically motivated. coming up on "action news" tonight, deserving service men get long overdue medals they have earned just days before
