her, pulled her into an abandoned building where she was sexual assaulted. tonight the research is on for the boys responsible. sunday night and the big story on action news is the investigation into the abduction and assault of a teenage girl in philadelphia. >> happened before 5:00 near 13th and butler streets. christie ileto is live at the special victim's unit with details. christie. >> reporter: that 13-year-old was take ton st. christopher's hospital listed in stable condition. it's not not uncommon to see groups of teenagers go in and out of the vacant home where the alleged assault took place. >> i came out basically after the fact and saw the cops in the back of the house. >> reporter: visiting a friend, he had no idea that an attempted abduction and reported sexual assault happened only steps away. >> butler. seven males, one female. teenagers. >> reporter: the calls for help came before 5:00 sunday

afternoon. a 13-year-old was walking down the streets and three juveniles grabbed her and snatched her into the abandoned home. >> seen like maybe 13 young boys. >> reporter: coming out that have abandoned house. >> yeah. >> reporter: walker said she spotted a group of young boys at the same location hours earlier >> it's sad, devastating just to see all that's going on. just right in front of my house. >> they need to seal that place up. i mean, a good seal. not halfway. you know? and if you went down there right now i bet you can push the door. >> the door is open. >> reporter: police secured the location to make sure no one broke in, but residents are adamant this row home breeds crime. >> they need to do something before something more tragic happens. >> reporter: now, after repeatedly searching in and around that vacant home, police made no arrests. anyone with information is asked to contact svu.

live, christie ileto, channel 6, action news >> thank you. philadelphia police are piecing together a crash that left a child irwhyed tonight. happened after 6:30 on 59th and landsdown in philadelphia. the child was struck by a car and rush to children's hospital. no word on the child ears condition or pending charges. the ac expressway, at this hour all the eastbound lanes are shut down in hamilton township because a tanker truck carrying fuel overturned today forcing officials to call in hazmat crews. action news reporter bob brooks joins us now with the latest. bob. >> reporter: walter, for whatever reason this driver lost control and now thousands of gallons of gasoline have spilled on to the atlantic city expressway, again, eastbound. behind me, that's the scene. you can see off in the distance those flashing lights. that's the scene where it flipped over. where we're at.

the farley service station in hamilton township. as close as we can get. what we're hearing from crews, there's at least two more days worth of work to be done to clean up all of this gas. it's been a long night for drivers heading eastbound on the atlantic city expressway. where were you trying to go? >> i got to get down to the area. >> reporter: trips rerouted. they have had to find their way around this. a gasoline tanker flipped over on the eastbound lanes around 1 :00 near the hamilton township exit. hazmat crews called in. >> should we be worried? >> reporter: 7,000 gallons of gasoline spilled before the leak was stopped. for an unknown reason the driver of the tanker lost control and it turned over. again, that was at 1:00 this afternoon. and since then the expressway eastbound has been closed. and that meant a lot of drivers who weren't familiar with the area had to ask for help. >> hi, i don't know where i am.

>> reporter: certainly hope they made it to their destinations in a timely manner. see that flashing arrow, i'm hearing that traffic is about to be open eastbound partially. then at some point open it up to full capacity here. but, again, lots and lots of gas has been spilled. crews say at least two more days worth of work to clean it all up. reporting live in hamilton township, bob brooks, channel 6 action news. thank you, bob. moving on to the accuweather forecast. it was a warm and sunny day, but rain on the way for the workweek. melissa mcgee with the first check of the accuweather forecast. >> we certainly do have changes up ahead for the start of our workweek. just to recap, the first weekend in april wasn't bad. yesterday, clouds and a few pockets of sun. a high temperature, 53. today, 10 degrees milder, coming in at 63. average for this time of year is 59. so we had a nice, mild day as we close out our weekend.

temperatures right now, it's 50 in the city, 58 for reading, 38 in the poconos. coast in cape may, 48. and millvale, chilly 50 degrees. but changes are coming. here's storm tracker 6 live double scan radar 3d. see heavy rain, in fact severe weather out across the southern plains states where tornado watches have been issued and are still up for louisiana and mississippi. we'll track a piece of this moisture and this energy as it works its way through the ohio valley up through the mid atlantic region. future tracker 6, 11 p.m. monday night you can see the moisture nec knocking on our doorsteps and closer monday night into tuesday. a series of storms on the way this week. april showers, to say the least. the first batch of moisture comes in tomorrow night into tuesday. then another one thursday into friday. locally heavy rain is a big concern. keep in mind the ground is saturated because of the soaking we got just last friday. there is an increased flood risk

and also the threat of strong showers and storms. we'll take a closer look at that and talk about how much rain we're expecting, sarah and walter. >> thank you. well, the same system that's bringing rain was responsible for a tornado in louisiana that killed a mother and her 3-year-old child. officials say the severe weather across the south spawned at least four tornadoes today. flash flooding and high winds are being reported in texas, louisiana, arkansas, and in mississippi. president trump is set to host chinese president at the president's estate. still, he sent a warning shot saying the u.s. is prepared to act alone if china doesn't take a tough stand against north korea. during an interview published on the financial times website, he said, quote, the u.s. can totally handle the situation in north korea without china's

help. they're expected to meet thursday and friday, discussing issues, including trade. meanwhile, president trump's supreme court nominee could be confirmed by the end of this week. but it could take a change of rules to get him there. tomorrow the senate judiciary is expected to send the nomination to the full senate with debate to follow on tuesday. he needs 60 votes and only three democrats will support him. he needs eight to secure page. if they can't get the eight votes, the senate majority said he will change the rules to require only a simple majority. from our delaware news room now, wilmington police are investigating a shooting that left a man injured today. evidence markers lie up and down the 400 block of east lawn avenue. police say several men shot the 30-year-old victim in the back and both legs. witnesses described hearing a barrage of bullets. up to 20 shots in broad daylight

around 12:30 this afternoon. victim is in stable condition at the hospital. gunfire in the brewery town section of philadelphia left a man in critical condition. police called to the 1800 block of north taney street around 5:00. they say the 37-year-old victim was shot multiple times. he was rushed to the hospital. a dog was also injured in this shooting. so far no arrests have been made. well, police in philadelphia investigating a deadly shooting on roosevelt boulevard. the victim was driving his car when someone pulled up alongside and opened fire. trish hartman has details. >> it's disturbing. kids up all around this block. >> reporter: people who live in the area of summer dale and roosevelt boulevard were disturbed to learn that a 39-year-old man was shot and killed around 6 a.m. sunday driving his car. >> and i heard shots. and i was in the porch and i looked out the window. >> reporter: a neighbor, who

doesn't want to be identified, says about five gunshots rang out and then a white vehicle drove away from the intersection. >> the car turned the corner. i turned out the light. i thought it must be that car. >> reporter: police say the victim was stopped at the light on the southbound side of the boulevard when a white cadillac pulled up, multiple shots, wounding the victim in the head and neck. after the shots were fired, police say the cadillac fled south and the victim swerved straight across the boulevard, crashing into the fence along the outer lanes. pronounced dead at the scene. parts of the boulevard were shut down and news started to spread. this woman is in the process of moving out of her home, saying after five years the neighborhood has gotten too dangerous for her family. >> the kids can't sit out here, you know, hang out or go down the street to the park. it's too much. it's too much. the shooting, you know, people getting robbed. you're not safe out here. >> reporter: reporting in

feltonville, trish hartman, channel 6 action news. one person killed at a fire at an apartment building in the east oak lane section this afternoon. the fire broke out in a unit here at regency house in the 6300 block of north tenth street. took fire fighters 20 minutes to get the fire under control. but when they did, they found the victim inside an apartment. the smoke detectors were working, but no word on what caused the fire. tonight an update on the story of a man from utah searching for someone from philadelphia whose message in the bottle washed up in the caribbean. >> we brought you this story last night at 11:00. tonight the mystery is solved because the man behind that message in the bottle watches action news >> i was kind of like dozing off at first. but it made me sit up in the chair. and i was like, wow, i don't believe this. they're talking about me. i kept saying this is me, this is me. went down and told my wife. she was like, yeah, right. get out of here.

>> ray stratton still can't believe it. he was watching action news saturday night when he heard clint buffington talk about a message in a bottle in the west indies. the writing was faded. clint has been searching for ray who lives in philadelphia and was on board the carnival conquest in may of 2014 >> it's never taken me this long to solve a message in a bottle. >> i watched it fall. adios. two years later, here we are. >> ray reached out to clint. >> that conversation was awesome. talking to ray for the first time was so cool. it was like, you know, i keep finding, like, people who send messages in bottles, they just are interesting people. >> it was exciting. made me feel good. like i was special with a place here. like the lord touched me and said, it's your day. >> and this evening, the new friends skyped. and ray says if clint is ever in philadelphia, he's welcome to stay at his house.

shopping mall. building and safety experts have been warning that a popular building material at the site can be highly flammable. people are digging through thick sand, mud and debris in colombia sevenning for those missing after friday's avalanche. a wall of mud and water inundated the city. 200 people were killed. they are rushing to get drinking water and supplies to the area. roads and bridges were washed away. making matters worse, heavy rains are expected in the area. a horrific crime in chicago. a 15-year-old girl was sexual assaulted by at least six males and the entire attack was streamed live on facebook. tonight a 14-year-old boy is behind bars, but the other attackers are still on the loose. investigators say at least 40 people viewed the video, but not a single person called the police. they say the girl went to church

with her family on march 19th and disappeared for two days. she was apparently lured to a residence by one of the attackers who didn't allow her to leave. her mom was sent screen shots of the facebook video and took it to police. >> i didn't want to look at it. her face -- she was so scared. >> to make matters worse, people began ringing the family's doorbell and coming to the house in what's being described as a menacing way. the girl became a target of bullying on social media, prompting police to relocate her family to a safe place. a memorial held today for a 13-year-old boy who died from carbon monoxide poisoning in michigan. the children who survived returned to the hotel to remember 13-year-old brian watts. six middle schoolers were found unconscious around the pool at this quality inn yesterday. fire investigators say a broken pool heater pumped a lethal dose

showers and unsettled weather. moisture across the great lakes and severe weather right now breaking out across the southern plains states and through the southeast with tornado watch boxes posted for louisiana and mississippi. so we'll track this moisture that goes up through the ohio valley into the mid atlantic region as early as tomorrow night into tuesday. but for the bus stop forecast tomorrow, mostly clear. no problems in the morning. 6 a.m., that temperature in at 45. 8:00 tomorrow morning, 49. and it will be a dry afternoon. in fact, the majority of the day tomorrow will be dry. sun to start, giving way to increasing clouds. as we get into tomorrow, by 3:00, high temperatures will be maxing out in the upper 60s across the region. the late monday night into tuesday we're tracking that moisture. in fact, in advance of the rain, national weather service already has issued a flood watch for mercer county. goes up at midnight tuesday, lasting right through the day. and i wouldn't be surprised if other counties follow suit

tomorrow afternoon. 6:00 in the morning, dry. clear. a few clouds throughout the day. then 11 p.m. tomorrow night, you can see from the poconos down to lancaster, even the i-95 corridor, moisture approaching. heavy overnight monday into tuesday. 3:30 in the morning. into tuesday afternoon we get a bit of a lull. adding to the instability in the atmosphere with the heating of the day. so showers, if not a couple rumbles of thunder not out of the question into tuesday afternoon. here's the exclusive accuweather seven day forecast. so it is mild tomorrow, sun to clouds. the majority of the day is fine. then late monday night, high of 66 into tuesday, tracking the unsettled weather. tuesday's high, 72 degrees. we can find locally an inch of rain if not higher. we get a break on wednesday with a high of 69. then another round thursday into friday. and thursday's batch of rain looks to be a bit more intense than what we're going dealing with tomorrow night. so thursday, a high of 63.
