>> reporter: good morning, bill and renae. this new service tax will generate about $160 million, just within the first year. sales taxes will not change. however this new service tax will affect services such as repair, maintenance and installation. this includes putting in big appliances and auto repairs, as for fees, they go up within state government agencies. for instance, a standard 8-year driver's license fee will go from 32-$40. the revenue generated divided among 79 suburban and rural counties, used for schools, colleges as well as economic development. family and friends of a woman murdered 20 years ago, say the justice system finally worked. chris lawing has been sentenced

the ride from the 40 split around to wade 11 minutes. an officer involved shooting resulted in the death of a raleigh man. >> family members say the 24 year old, denkin, was shot bid twitty. tara lynn is live with more. >> reporter: leaders with the naacp and the community are asking for people to have patience as the investigation continues. the chief will have a written report she will have ready to handover to the city manager. around noon, when police say they were trying to serve a drug warrant near brag street downtown. police and witnesses say the suspect ran and dug the chase killed him.

he also has been convicted of 3 previous drug charges, and had pending drug charges from the fall. that shooting happened the same day the council was supposed to take up the issue for body cameras. that discussion was postponed but the aclu says it needs to happen. along with expressing condolences, the shooting points out to the urgent need for north carolina second largest cities police department, to adopt the crucial technology and accompanying policy guaranteed to promote officer accountability and transparency. it is super tuesday, delegates to nominating conventions can be won today than any other day of the primary calendar. donald trump and hilary clinton head in to the contest, dominating respective races. a poll came out yesterday, shows, trump getting 49% of the

across the state. the state department of quality invites the public to get involved in how the ash ponds are classified. classification is a key step in cleaning up the toxic materials and determining deadlines for when each impoundment must be closed. there are hearings scheduled in willmington, ashville, eaton and dallas and north carolina and hearings held in counties where the actual coal ash facilities are located through the end of the month. the state department of health and human services will roll out the report on medicaid reform. lawmakers passed a bill to overmaul the $14 billion insurance system for the poor and disabled. it could take up to two years to gain approvals from the government. it will take another two years past that point, to make the transition to managed care costs. the fist day on the job for the president of the unc system.
