if you're doing everything right but find it harder and harder to get by, you're not alone. while our people work longer hours for lower wages, almost all new income goes to the top 1%. my plan -- make wall street banks and the ultrarich pay their fair share of taxes, provide living wages for working people, ensure equal pay for women. i'm bernie sanders. i approve this message because together, we can make a political revolution and create an economy and democracy that works for all and not just the powerful few.

solve a cold case from 1996. detectives are looking for this man, 36-year-old johnny bell, jr. bell is charged with murder and robbery. in october of 196, mark blackman was shot near north street. bell was a teen at the time of the murder. he was arrested last month for possession of a firearm, we're working to learn details of his release. and if you know where he is, call fayetville police. durham police are dealing with a rash of drive-by shootings. four in less than a month. the most recent happened wednesday on ridgway avenue. 78-year-old john burton, a mechanic, was repairing a care and was hit by a bullet in the arm. he returned to the scene yesterday to continue working on the car. >> i looked around and everybody looked like they were disappearing on me. so when i thought about it, i said, time for me to disappear, but too late.
5:16 am
was the third shot to go off. >> how scary. police haven't said if the four drive-by shootings are linked. raleigh residents want the power to investigate the police. >> a investigative subpoena and discipline power to put the power of holding police accountable back into the hands of community members. >> they called for a new community oversight board to look into complaints about police. a group called the police accountability and community task force made the request to the city's human relations commission. residents are outraged at the recent officer-related shooting death of a 24-year-old man in southeast raleigh. they also want bother cameras and more -- body cameras and more training for officers. the commission will discuss the request before deciding whether to recommend the idea to city council. the number of dogs and cats recess cdma from a shelter will be available for adoption soon. they were rescued six weeks ago during a raid at the shelter. since then, they've been
5:17 am
and now they're ready for forever homes. an adoption event will be held at a temporary aspca shelter on nash street in sanford. fees will be waived during the event which happens next weekend from the 18th through the 20th. hours will be 6 -- make that 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.. a traffic signal will be installed at a wake forest intersection where a school bus was involved in a crash. a bus and two cars collided there. middle school students were on board but not hurt. passengers in the cars reported minor injuries. the d.o.t. says the signal will be installed in mid-april. people who live in the area say several accidents have happened at this intersection. the durham rescue mission is asking for help in making the annual easter celebration a success. they need 1500 easter bags. right now they've got five. footage from last year shows the popularity of the event.
5:18 am
prepare a meal and distribute the baskets on good friday. donations can be delivered to the mission before march the the 23rd or you can make a donation online. the state farmer's market is welcoming warmer weather with the annual spring craft fair this weekend. several vendors and artisans are selling everything from garden accessories to soaps and candles. the fair opens at 9:00 this morning and runs through sunday. the city of oaks will be painted green over the weekend to celebrate st. patrick's day. the parade and festival begins tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m. the event will be similar to what we've got in the past. this is last year. when the parade is over, the festival begins at city plaza. there will be food, live music, dancetion and a leprechaun for the kidies. and last year, despite the rain, there are lots of people having fun out there. >> lots of umbrellas and raincoats. >> looking at better weather? >> yes, yes. it's going to be cooler
5:19 am
we're talking about upper 60s. that's still above normal. it will be cooler than the last few days. and we have a slight chance of showers. unfortunately, the best chance of rain will be in the morning and the parade kicks off at 10:00. you know, beautiful week, then, bam, the paradedeand it's looking a little iffy for that. going to that or have other plans to be out on saturday morning, i'd recommend taking your raincoat with you. there's a 30 percent chance of showers in the morning. looking nice and dry now, though. we should stay fairly dry. a slight chance of patchy, light rain later on today. very warm and windy, too. 63, of course, is our normal high temperature for this time of year. temperature, which is what we're looking at now. we typically see the coolest temperature during the day, this time of year, around 6:00 a.m. the dew point is up and it feels muggy.
5:20 am
morning. 64 in southern pines. these temperatures are even warmer than yesterday. we had a warm start all week long and still the temperature continues to climb. here's a look at the forecast for the weekend. saturday, a 25 percent chance of rain. a lot of that might be the first part of the day, so, you know, the parade might be a little wet and then the celebration afterwards could be dryer. it will be jacket weather with the 68 degrees and not much sun. a better chance of rain on sunday, but the temperature bumps back to the mid-70s. take this and work with it for your weekend. figure out how you're going to make your plans work out. here's what's happening. high pressure is sitting offshore. it's been keeping the warm air coming into the area. around the high, we have winds that rotate clockwise. we have the warmth coming from the south. the cold front is slipping into the area. this front will continue to sink down into north carolina.
5:21 am
cooler air that's on the other side of the front. what's going to happen to that, though, it's going to sit here for tomorrow and then pick back up and move northward. we will get back into the warm air for sunday and for next week, too. this doesn't typically happen this time of year. usually this time of year, the whole front sweeps through and we get into the cooler period, but in this case, not necessarily so. we take it through the rest of the day today, plenty of cloud cover, an isolated shower or two. we could see that tomorrow morning, there's 7:00 a.m. not looking like a whole lot. i don't think the parade will be a washout by any means, but to be safe, take along the rain gear. that goes into sunday. again, we have a slightly better chance of rain. now, today stays very warm, even with the cloud cover. seeing a high of 79 degrees this afternoon. 68 on saturday. again, a little better chance of rain earlier in the morning. and then the chance tapers off as we get into the afternoon,
5:22 am
of goes back up in the afternoon and evening to about 45 percent by late afternoon and into sunday evening. monday looks like it might be on the wet side, too, with a chance of scattered showers and storms. but all together through sunday night, not looking at anything more than a trace to a half inch. not a lot of heavy rain over the weekend, just nuisance showers. after that, man, look at that, 79 on tuesday. 83 wednesday. 77 on thursday. so, the warmth continues. there's i-40 at trailwood. they just cleared out, i believe, the construction that was going on there earlier. so, traffic is moving along fine. but they were doing work there in the median just a little while ago. and i love this shot, where the cameras turned around on the durham freeway toward alston avenue, the beautiful glow, the bridge, over the american trail. it looks so night neat in the morning. >> such a sight to see. 5:22. next in sports, unc gears up
