so slow down. drink more water. eat more slowly. that's number one. but as far as little tricks psychologically, the big one here. again, the 20-minute rule. i say to people i could write a diet book called "the diet rule." take a plate of food you think is reasonable in serving size. make sure it's healthy, eat it. wait 20 minutes and see if you're still hungry. still hungry? eat more. if during the day you're feeling a craving for something you know you shouldn't eat, wait 20 minutes before up try it because we know that cravings for things regardless of what it is last about 20 minutes and then they start to diminish. so that piece of chocolate cake might seem irresistible if you were to act on it right way. if you wait 20 minutes, do something else distract yourself in some way, chances are you'll resist it if you wait. i think that ideally, depends

what you've eaten during the day, what the snack is. if -- you've got to realize, again what you're eating for. right? eating because you're upset or bored or eating because you had a rough day or legitimately hungry and have good reason to be hungry? if you are really hungry and have good reason to be hungry make a healthy choice. why i think you have to make sure your house does not contain things that are too tempting and things you shouldn't eat. don't have bad food that you know isn't good to eat in your house. it's way too easy to give in to that temptation. you want to have good healthy choices around you. >> nothing around you to reward yourself for being good at din jer. >> i don't think you should. if you have a goal to lose weight you know? got to do what you've got to do you and i talked many times off the air about the potential good of a dietary cleanse? what do you think about that? >> i can't claim to be an expert on all of them.
