we're under another weather alert. a lot of you are waking up to dense fog advisories this morning. it's really hard to see out there. so if you're heading out to drive, be careful. let's check in with chuck bell. visibility was down near zero about an hour or two ago, but as drier air is working in, it is eating up the fog. so the advisory go until 7:00 a.m. could still be pockets of dramatically reduced visibility and areas of high water. fog impacts mainly now through 7:00 a.m. by later today, no problems. fog will be gone. but clouds will be a bit of an issue for much of the day. storm team 4 radar tracking a couple light rain drops. that is literally the leading edge of the colder air that is wringing out a couple raindrops

along route 50 in southern prince george's county and charles county. temperatures in the in metro area mostly upper 40s to low and hid fifth, but still 59 at joint base andrews. so temperatures will trend downward through the day and there may be a collapse for height rain, maybe a snowflake or two tonight. let's take a look at 66 with melissa mollett. >> as promised here, 66 west of ox road here this morning, you're just fine. again, as chuck mentioned, a lot of the fog is now lifting out of the way. so not having to worry about that as much. but we're getting some complaints in frederick and kind of the upper part of 270 here this morning. big look at the beltway, no problems on the beltway and all the main routes in and out of town right now. we do have that little situation outer loop at allentown with the broken down tractor trailer. sound like that will be out of the way here in just a little bit. and 390 5 south, two lanes getting by on work zone.

molette green is out monitoring the fog for us this morning. how is it looking? >> reporter: good morning. you yeah, looking pretty good right now. we're just entering the pentagon city arlington area and not seeing much in the way of fog right now. we're getting reports that will is fog in some spots in alexandria and arlington. and so we're on the lookout for that as you can see out of our window here. it's a pretty good drive. wet roads, wet pavement, but no problems thus far on our drive here. you now, of course as we made our way to this area, in upper northwest, that was an area where we saw a lot of patchy fog. and low visibility. but looking pretty good right now as we are in the pentagon city area. that's the latest live from the storm team 4 x 4 on the lookout for fog, but not seeing much in the way of that where we are right now. back to you. right now we're working to learn how the people involved in

this serious crash in northeast washington are doing. this happened on c street and 14th street. you can see the force at which the cars collided. police aren't telling us what led to the crash, but the road was shut down for some time while they investigated. the road is back open now and we'll keep you updated on the story throughout the morning. and new video this morning of the aftermath of a deadly pedestrian accident. prince george's county police said a minivan hit and killed a person on piscataway road in clinton. the car did stay on the scene. the driver is cooperating. investigators believe the pedestrian was not in the crosswalk. 5:05. today family and friends will say their final good-byes to 13-year-old nicole lovell. her funeral is in blacksburg, virginia. hundreds of people showed up for her wake last night. the teen's body was found last weekend days after she was missing. investigators say virginia tech student david eisenhauer stabbed lovell to death. and natalie keepers helped eisenhauer dump her body off a here in north carolina.

she's charged with being an accessory before the crime. keepers high school a bo s has today. the search is on for whomever shot the four people in butler street last night. two adults and two teens were shot there. all expected to be okay. no word on a motive in that shooting. a d.c. firefighter is recovering after being hurt on a fire on m street. you can see the flames shooting out of the window. no word on what sparked the fire. one firefighter was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. democratic hopefuls have their first chance since iowa to head to head in the race for their party's nomination. msnbc hosting a debate that starts at 9:00 tonight. it's only been three days since hillary clinton's razor thin defeat of bernie sanders. cnn hosted a town hall discussion in new hampshire last night where the attacks got much tougher and more personal. >> i do not know any progressive

weather and putting together a weekend forecast for you. why did you kill that little girl? can you say anything to her family? >> prince george's county police arrested 25-year-old darren boswell johnson for the murder of his daughter and her mother. he confessed to waiting for neshante davis outside her townhouse and shot her and her daughter several times. tracee wilkins talked to neshante's mother. >> why? because you didn't have to shoot her. or high grandbaby. >> court documents say johnson was upset it that davis refused to drop a petition that would require him to pay $600 a month in child support. he's expected to be held without bond. zip ties, plastic wrap and a belt. those are the items police say a

montgomery county couple used to abuse their 7-year-old son. craig and nicole williams were arrested in december in clarksburg and are now facing child abuse charges. according to court documents, the boy was frequently restrained with zip ties by his father. the boy was treated for multiple abrasions and bruises. an attorney representing craig williams says i don't believe police looked as deeply as they could or should have in to the back story of this case. he also says right in you what is out there for public consumption is no where near the full story. today the controversial pharmaceutical executive accused for hiking drug prices will be on capitol hill. martin shkreli and others will testify on the rising cost of drugs. in december shkreli was arrest order federal security fraud charges. he raised the price of a life sifing hiv and cancer drug by 5,000%. it is 5:19. the sex all assault case against

support ahead of super tuesday. if you're interested, you canal volunteer at two phone banks tonight, one in fairfax and the other in reston. for the third time in recent week, a vicious dog attack in northwest washington. this time a secret service agent who was supposed to be protecting clinton this week is instead recovering from a pit bull attack. ross yeager says the dog bit him on water street. he was off duty walking his dog when he says a woman across the street lost control of her pit bull and it charged. you can see the marks on craiger's dog's head. he had tried to defend the dog. >> after i stuck my hand town its throat, i then punched it for a good three or four minutes in the will head. and it was like i was scratching its ears. >> neighbors say someone had to grab a snow shovel and hit the pit bull to stop the attack. animal control is not commenting on this weekend's incident.
