right no in woodbridge the outpouring and grief of a prince william county police officer killed in the line of duty. i'm barbara harrison. we have the candidates covered as well as polling places as you head out to vote. but we begin with breaking news out of rockville, maryland. i'm angie goff here aet the live desk and this is what we know at this point. police responded to a man who was shot in the leg and ended up in the parking lot of the montgomery college rockville campus.

they just pointed out he was not killed on campus and the injuries occurred before. you can see that an open car is surrounded by crime scene tape out that way. police say the victim flagged down a driver somewhere else and that that driver took him to montgomery college for some reason we don't know. we're getting those answers. we'll continue to bring you updates on our nbc washington app. >> thank you, angie. now to the funeral of ashley guindon. the 28-year-old killed on her first day on the job. police officers gathered at the memorial chapel for the viewing and funeral. for about an hour. it's dugo on until the funeral starts. take a look at the line of people here. they have officers as far as california and texas. we do understand there's also been inquiries from a great britain. of course, this is a time when that family of law enforcement comes together on one of these occasion. as we know, ashley guindon was on her first shift after coming with prince william county and it was her last. she was on a domestic call when they opened fire on her. two ore officer other officers . they could pursue the death penalty charge. local jurisdiction has responded. there are

starting at 4:26 tomorrow. a new nbc news surveymonkey poll out this morning shows him with 40% support. that's up 4% from just a couple of weeks ago. the new poll puts senator marco rubio in second place ahead of senator ted cruz. among democrats hillary clinton is holding a lead over bernie sanders. today's survey has a margin of error of just under two percentage points. c news has expanded coverage of super tuesday. we'll air an extra hour tonight at 7:00 and we'll have a special at 10:00 tonight. we'll have live reports on the races at 11:00 and the results, of course n virginia. it's a big day at the international space station. a longtime resident saying good-bye. plus an accident involved google's self-driving car. google saying,

just in out of cuba, the rolling stones will play a concert in havana on march 25th. now, this is going make them the biggest act to play if the country since the 1959 revolution. it's going to happen just a few days after president obama visits the country. the concert is going to be free. this is really significant considering it's happening in place where it persecuted people, young people for listening to rock in the past. this thing is going to be huge, off the charts. the band also responding saying playing havana is going to be a land marc event for them. i'm angie goff at the live

actress selma hayek's dog was accidentally shot and killed by a neighbor. hayek posteded on instagram on friday she was mourning the death of her 9-year-old dog named mozart and hoped they would get justice. the neighbor fired an air rifle at a dog fight his dogs. the prosecutor ruled it justified. a google self-driving car hit a public bus. they have modified its vehicle software after the crash last month. according to a report by google, it was the first case of one of its autonomous cars hitting another vehicle. the car was traveling at 2 miles an hour when it hit the bus at 15 miles per hour. luckily no one was hurt. go

fight on capitol hill between apple and the fbi. fbi director james comey and an apple lawyer, the senior vice president, are testifying before the house ju dishy at 1:00 this afternoon. the fbi wants apple to create software that would allow the government to access encrypted iphone from one of the shooters. the judge said that would set up a dangerous precedent and would not be limited to the one case. ahead, change, plus a look at how important virginia will be to today's super tuesday primaries.

the polls are open and right now people all across virginia are casting ballots on this super tuesday. you're looking at people voting across arlington. voting has been under way for over five hours. meagan fitzgerald is live with a look at voter turnout. what's it looking like out there now? >> reporter: you know, barbara, there's been a steady flow of voters coming in and out of this precinct. fairfax county election officials tell us more than 700,000 voters have registered. that's an increase of nearly 100,000 voters from 2008. we had an opportunity to speak to many voters who say this election is too important to stay

massachusetts avenue near southern avenue in southwest d.c. police are not releasing the vig tim's name or any information on how the person died. when we get it, we'll have more. a task force starts work today to make sure students aren't abused in prince george's county. you'll remember dionte caraway, a teacher's aide. she's been charged with sexually abusing as many as 17 children. they'll review the policies and decide what needs to be changed. the group expected to have the results by may. an indictment claims that careway took part in graphic sex acts with at least 11 victims. all the victims were between the ages of 9 and 12 years old. caraway face as class action as well. you can

right now thousands of people are streaming in to a woodbridge church to pay their respects to fallen officer ashley guindon. derrick ward has more. >> good morning, barbara. they're the last of the line to go in for the viewing. the last of the line has left there. as you can see it's quite an impressive number of officers. not only the police officers but the entire public safety sector is represented. fire, plenty of military officers and other plain clothes, federal, all jurisdictions represented at this sad occasion in woodbridge. this comes from the death of 28-year-old ashley guindon saturday afternoon when she responded to a domestic violence call. she was one of three officers respo

two officers were wounded. guindon did not survive. what we're hearing from the folks who are in line here who showed up to pay their respects, some of them are even retired but this is -- your membership is in a family that you never leave whether you're active on the job or not. and it's at a time like this when they get circumspect about the job. >> it's a dangerous job. you never know when god's going to call your number in these jobs. we just have to keep on doing. people don't recognize we have to do that job every day. everybody's got go back to work. people can just give us a little more help and respect. >> the funeral is under way. from here guindon's remains will be taken to her home state of massachusetts where they'll hold new funeral. she'll be buried in that state, the state of her birth.

right now republican presidential candidate john kasich is in virginia on this super tuesday. he's speaking at george mason university law school. you're looking at live pictures as the events gets started. it's expected to get started in a few minutes. it's one stop for the republican and democratic candidates on this very important voting day. now virginia has a very diverse collection of voters. it a win in virginia could suggest a win later on. now the latest polls have hillary clinton leading on the democratic side of the race in virginia. she could win up to 95 delegates and 14 super delegates

live report on the races. a chase, a standoff, and now a manhunt for a man police say kidnapped his girlfriend and two young sons. the people who are kidnapped are safe now but they're stull out there. california highway patrol says the man took his family member and drove off in a hummer. police chased it for hours until his badry died. then the man used the 1-year-old as a shield to keep them from approaching him. he ran into the woods. in o'news a strange odor on a plane forced the plane to land in melbourne. the tiger's crew started to feel sick. four members were checked out by paramedics and all were said to be okay. they're looking into the incident. a gorgeous day under way.
