i think locally it's so different especially in maryland. testimonies drought number republicans 2:1. hogan is an anomaly. so if democrats can hang this on hogan, make him take a position, i think they feel like maybe that could drag him down a bit where his poll numbers are pretty high. but this is the long game. and in the long game is the convention. hogan has to lead his delegation to the republican convention. he certainly isn't going to move because democrats force him. so he knows the strategy is you can put as many billboards up, i have to lead my delegration into cleveland and i'm not about ready to tip my hand because i don't know what i will be offered it that become as brokered convention. >> i don't believe the maryland primaries are for a bit more time. >> april 26. >> so

jurisdictions already. but some could argue that the cost of living in the district, that this affects the minimum wage and d.c. i believe is the highest in the nation. i think what's interesting is low the mayor is pushing for this, vincent gray also pushed this $11.50. the key here is that the coundcl chairman is now onboard. before he was luke warm because what would it mean for businesses. >> that's always the argument. but there are states and jurisdictions that have done it and there is no proof that it drives business out. now, of course the one thing that is different is that we've got virginia on one side and maryland on the other. but i think what the mayor is doing is taking the leadership position. so she takes the position in the district, she takes the lead. and then you know the governor this virginia who is democrat, he will take the lead. the opposition probably will be

hogan only because of ideological reasons. but he may edgily come around because he's got to deal with a democratic semiprogressive legislator. so i think she's taking the lead. >> i think the issue here is will it harm competition. in other words, will workers be making more money, will the restaurants or businesses where they're paying it, will they have to spend more money, they will lose profits. and there is competing data on this. and the latest data shows that it doesn't have those effects. they did that in washington state and they thought this would crimp the economy and it didn't. >> because people who make $15 an hour spend it. >> and they will stay on the job longer, be better workers because their he's getting paid more. >> and i thought what you were going to say that she was taking the lead because there is some scuttle that if she didn't at that time lead, that this might go for referendum anyway and t

65-year-old woman saved by a d.c. firefighter earlier this month has died. now, you may remember firefighter danny lovato gave ti phyllis terrell his air mask while rescuing her from a burning building. terrell's granddaughter confirmed that she has died from complications while in hospice care. and an emowitional debate i expected over a new justice bill on its way to the house of delegates. according to the "washington post," the proposal would send people convicted of drug possession to treatment instead of prison. it would also make easier to have drug possession convictions expunged. it will also allow 1700 people serving mandatory minimums to appeal sentences. protesters marched outside a d.c. library after a library police officer asked a woman to

home. and that unit with a tpnit wasn damage. roof of a car wash was blown off. but no reports of injury. two dead and police officer wounded after a shooting in tampa. the officer, 5 #-year-old jose rodriguez, and two other male suspects, were shot during an altercation. one of the men was killed at the cre scene, the other died at the hospital. investigators believe it was the bulletproof vest that likely saved the officer's life. still no word on what led up to the altercation. a big change to california's minimum wage could have an effect on minimum wages here. a new deal will increase the state's minimum wage from $10 to $15 an hour. the wage will steadily increase a dollar per year until it reaches the $15 an hour marg. the bill still needs to go before the california legislature. at $15 an hour, california wou

roadside bomb. few thought that he would walk again but he's recovered and made its way back to the soldier that stood by him on the battlefield. kerry sanders has more. >> reporter: rocky, u.s. army, combat veteran. to see him today, you'd be hard pressed to know a roadside about him left him lame. you may remember this viral photo, rocky sitting on the bed with his partner army specialist andrew brown. the two initially recovering together at a u.s. military hospital in germany. and, yes, that's a purple heart on rocky's collar. like any other member of the u.s. military, rehabilitating rocky's back left leg became a mission. >> extremely painful injury. and a lot of dozen missing and burn injury from the blast itself. >> seven weeks in to his recovery and progress. >> he's a great temperament which makes it easy.

starting with the alexandria policedy, they're investigating an in-custody death. a 54-year-old male inmate had a medical emergency last night at the adult detention center in alexandria. he was rushed to the inova alexandria hospital but died just after 11:00 p.m. the man was being held on federal charges. a teenager was shot and killed on the platform at the deanwood metro station. d.c. police say he was targeted. mayor muriel bowser is confident that police will catch the suspect. three people have been arrested and charged for their roles in the terror attacks in brussels. at least 31 people were killed and more than 200 hurt when bombs went off in the airport and subway car. close to 7,000 people came out to celebrate easter at the lincoln memorial this morning. it was the 38th annual sunrise service organized by capital church.
