the bus station will remain closed for the rest of the day. back to you, doreen. >> thank you, pat lawson muse. new charges tonight against a tennessee man who was shot by police at the capitol this week. larry dawson faces charges of resisting and assault of a federal police officer. court documents say he passed through a metal detector twice before that shooting on monday. both times it alerted that he had metal near his waist. the documents say that when police wanded him, dawson pulled a bb gun and pointed it at the officer. they say he was shot twice when he refused orders to put the gun down. the charges against him carry a sentence of up to 30 years in prison. donald trump here in washington today to meet with his foreign policy team, but his day also included a surprise stop at the headquarters of the republican national committee. a source with the rnc told nbc news that the agenda included party unity and other subjects. that meeting comes as trump is facing new stres

>> everybody has their own issues. >> reporter: metro spokesman says they have clear hd video of what unfolded here. they're not going to release it because they say they know where their suspect or who their suspect is. all they have to do now is bring him in, and they're confident they're going to be able to do that. reporting live, i'm tracee wilkins. back to you all in the studio. >> thank you, tracy. that incident is just the latest high profile case for metro. last weekend 15-year-old davonte washington was gunned down in front of his family at the deanwood metro station. a 17-year-old has been charged with his murder. back in february a man was shot during an attempted robbery on board a green line train approaching the anacostia station. patrols have also been increased to deal with the spike in assaults carried out by groups of high school teens. those assaults are among the crimes that have risen when compared to this same time in 2015. the transit system was also the scene for two murders last year, a stabbing on a red line train on july 4th and a shooting in

the u.s. park police say they are conducting an internal review after a controversial arrest this week. it started with a traffic stop and ended with one man

emergency room. our pat collins is at d.c. superior court now with more on this. pat? >> reporter: jim, a cop says a man tried to assault him with a hula hoop. after that it got violent and ug ugly. this is what timothy cox looked like after it happened. he says he has broken bones around his eye, stitches in his forehead after he was beaten by a u.s. park police officer. >> he kept on hitting me in my head. when he saw the blood, that's when he stopped. >> reporter: mr. cox was a passenger in this minivan when it was pulled over for a traffic violation. he says a park police officer maced him and then beat him in the face after he ran into his sister's house nearby. >> he sprayed the mace directly in my e

see but i was still trying to get the mace out of his hands because it was like he was trying to keep on spraying it. jooshg the park police say the officer was trying to arrest the driver of the minivan when mr. cox assaulted the officer by throwing a cooler and two hula hoops at him. the cooler missed but one of the hula hoops hit the officer in the face. that led to a chase into the house and a fight in one of the bedrooms. they say mr. cox was maced and struck in the face but police say it was self-defense. >> at that point that suspect reached out his hands and grabs that officers getalia and squeezed. the officer's only recourse was to punch him in the eye with a closed fist. >> reporter: john davis was the driver of the minivan and friend of mr. cox. he believes they were targeted because police thought they were gay. park police say they have no evidence the officer used any h

at the hospital he had used pcp earlier that day. john davis and timothy cox both have been charged with assault on a police officer. both men have had those charges dropped. doreen, back to you. >> pat collins. thank you. a driver is in custody after a police pursuit in fairfax county. it started along chain bridge road early this morning and ended at route 29 in fairfax. political tell us officers tried to pull over a car but the driver wouldn't stop. police say they followed the car along route 29 until they were able to make the driver stop. still no word on the driver's name or the reason for the initial traffic stop. a former judge has been sentenced to a year of probation for ordering a defendant in his court to be physically shocked. robert nalley is his e.

>> reporter: yeah, and doreen, keisha ajay says it was her friends who encouraged her to come to this parking lot behind us to hire a few workers. she was trying to stay within her budget, so she did, and thousand she says it's a decision she regrets. police say it happens often. people pull up to certain parking lots looking for inexpensive labor. that's what keisha ajay was after last wednesday when she needed help moving some heavy furniture. >> i had a large bedroom set that i needed moved. >> reporter: so she came here to the 711 parking lot to pick up two day workers. one of them was 44-year-old jose compos gonzalez. she was working in her room while gonzalez was just feet away. >> my daughter was upstairs in her room and the day laborer was undoing the armoire. >> reporter: that's when court documents say gonzalez inappropriately touched the 6-year-old girl and then apoloz

control of its explosives to make sure an incident like this never happens again. the cia conducted k-9 training with the loudoun county sheriff's department at briar woods high school last week training dogs to detect bombs using a school bus. a piece of explosive training material fell out of a package and was left behind on the school bus. this evening the training program has been suspended. >> we want to make sure we're not missing anything here, so we just had a meeting this afternoon with the cia, with the public schools, with the fire marshal's office, and we wanted to make sure we suspended everything with regards to this program until a thorough review is done. >> reporter: on monday and tuesday the bus with the explosive training material on board carried students from three loudoun county public schools. >> it was a special needs bus. there were 26 students total. it went a total of 145.6 miles with the substance on it. >> reporr:

we'll have rain on and off at times throughout the day. it looks like the best chance of you dealing with rain will be mainly during the morning hours, but there's also the potential for more scattered showers during the afternoon and early evening hours, and maybe a few rumbles of thunder. no widespread severe weather is in the forecast tomorrow but it is one of those days where we're warm enough, we're humid enough where any storm that does form could have some strong gusty winds and some heavy rain. about a low to moderate risk of some heavy rain and a moderate risk of some high winds and any thunderstorms. even if we don't see the storms, you're going to be noticing the winds tomorrow gusting at at least 30 to 35 miles an hour throughout the day. so the weekend outlook, we have a few nats games friday and saturday. showers are possible at both games. kite festival on saturday. shower possible there. cherry blossom ten-miler, windy, cold, brutal, not very nice. sunday morning it will feel like temperatures are in the 20s when you factor in the winds. the thermometer reading about 40 degrees. saturday a high of 64.
