>> the latest on that in just a moment but first, let's get a check of weather and traffic on the 1s. storm team 4 meteorologist chuck bell, spring is not coming back anytime soon? >> new york the spring flowers are being frozen. low to mid-30s in the nearby suburbs look at manassas, 21 degrees this morning. the one upside is, compared to yesterday morning, there's nowhere near a windchill to contend with. it's just flat out cold. 28 at 7:00 a.m. this morning. 55 at 5:00 this afternoon. plenty of sunshine today. a little breezy this afternoon but by tomorrow morning, rain back in on it. and rainfall amounts tomorrow likely to add up between a half and three quarters inch of rain across the area, most of that coming before lunch. i'll let you know whether or not it's going to impact the nationals home opener later on in the show.

king, police say the person was assaulted by one person while another held the victim at gunpoint. they took items from the victim and ran off. d.c. council members say new homeless shelters will blend in with the neighborhood, but the neighbors aren't convinced. protesters headed out to push back against the $60 million plan to move homeless families to shelters around the district. they want to close d.c. general and open new sites in each of the wards. neighbors in ward 3 are not happy. d.c. councilmember mary chase said there have been promises made that the shelters will look good and safe. >> the shelters will be aesthetically pleasing and secure. it went be like you're walking by and say there's the homeless shelter. it will fit in with the neighborhood. >> opponents argue some of the sites violate zoning

gulet mohamed is a u.s. citizen from somalia. yesterday, he joined a class action lawsuit involving thousands of muslim-americans. the lawsuit insists that the no-fly list is motivated by ethnic profiling. we first told you about mohamed in 2011. that's when he first challenged the report. his brother is on the fbi's most wanted terrorist list. weeks after the terror in brussels, safety at our airports is on the agenda today in a senate committee. peter neviner, the top administrator plans to testify on the tsa's efforts to prevent attacks on targets that could lead to mass casualties. an alarming situation for people living in oklahoma where wildfires are getting close to one town. the town of

oklahoma has been totally evacuated. in another part of the state, fires destroyed a house. firefighters say high winds are making the situation worse. president obama is expected to announce a plan today to fund the zika epidemic by moving money rip neal set out to fight the ebola virus. roughly $600 million will go to the centers for disease control. that is according to the associated press. the money will go to people infected with zika, fund vaccine research and combat mosquitos that spread the virus. dr. anthony fauci spoke to news4 about the funding. he said transferring funding is not enough. >> do not travel to areas with an outbreak. the other thing is we know it's sexually transmitted. that's a fact, not a theory. >> the virus can cause serious birth defects if it ints

the irs headquarters in downtown d.c. will now remain closed for the rest of the week. a fire in the building's basement on monday affected the air handling system, the irs says, telework ready employees are expected to work remotely. no other offices are affected by the closure. and tax processing, it's still under way. 5:15, the d.c. council just passed a law to help identify kids as lgbt from taking their lives. the council pass the youth intervention and school survey act the first law of its kind requiring a state education office to develop a policy on students that specifically addresses the needs. theay

near cardinal drive. a man was home during the shooting and later discovered three shell casings inside his house. since january, officers say there have been seven similar incidents. there is a strip club ban taking place in prince george's county. nice 4 tracee wilkins explains. >> reporter: all eyes are on prince george's county after a judge ordered 12 of these businesses to cease and desist. this club is one of them. they're saying the clubs are located in the wrong area. they're not zoned for where they're located. some are in actual neighborhoods. this one is not too far from a neighborhood or even a church. they need to be located in warehouse districts. some have already stopped operating as strip clubs. they have to appeal by friday or the county is going to force them to close their do

search strip clubs. we have a complete list of where all of these clubs are located. in fairmont heights, i'm tracee wilkins, news4. today, security officials in boston will outline their ramped up security plans for the 120th marathon. security has been stepped up significantly since two bombs exploded near the finish line of the 2013 marathon killing three people and injuring more than 260. the race is scheduled for april 18th. new jersey governor chris christie isn't ready to support mandatory water testing in schools. elevated lead levels were recently found in the water at 38 schools in newark public school area. christie says that the bigger problem is outdated lead-based payment in its old houses. lead has been a national topic of discussion since water in flint, michigan, tested higher than the threshold that the er

dangerous. 5:18 now. now to a story you'll see only on news4. d.c. firefighters are rallying around one of their own after she lost everything in a fire on easter sunday. tonnisha morris woke up easter morning to the smell of spoke. she grabbed her nephew and ran out of her house. the home was engulfed in flames. her fellow firefighters arrived quickly and tried to extinguish the flame but it was too late. >> a lost everything. basically pictures everything was gone. >> morris says she's even more motivated to help others because now she know what is a total loss feels like. you'd like to help more rick, you can take donations to engine 28 on connecticut avenue. that's near the cleveland park metro station. it's great to see people rallying around her. it's a sisterhood and brotherhood over there. and news4 for heal
