here is the latest on radar. you can see the heaviest rain in parts of fairfax and southern prince william counties right now by the darker colors. looking to track rain at times today with snow mixing in. and winds already starting to pick up west of washington. with gusts anywhere 20 to 25 miles per hour. >> a developing story this morning. police investigating the shooting of a 7-year-old girl in the district. news 4 derrick ward live in southeast this morning. >> yeah. we're learning a bit more about this incident that happened here. first, let me set the scene for you. you see that white hon do did a there. the window is gone. police are focusing on that and another one down the street. a stone's throw from the 7th district. this shooting here happened at about

police tell us the young girl, a 7-year-old girl was walking down the street with her parents when she was shot and wounded. she has been taken to the hop. last check she is in critical condition. we don't have any more information about her identity or condition other than that it is critical at this point. now, we don't know if she was the intended target or the victim of a random gunfire. but folks who live on can knox and hartford streets are saying they are held virtually hostage to the violence. >> i heard five or six shots 9:35 last night. it just don't make no sense. i'm tired of it. you can't come home from work without somebody shooting. it's going to get worse. >> i've been here 17 years or more. it is ridiculous. you can't even go outside. my son has to walk to the bus stop every day for school. it's ridiculous. something needs to be done.

the back deck in shorts, crying, and knocking on the door. she was upset with him and locked him out. she is charged with child neglect and on unpaid leave from lane elementary school. an all-out manhunt for a suspect is now over. his mom and dad took him in. they took anthony garver into custody last night. garver escaped from a psychiatric hospital in washington state wednesday night and popped in to see his parents thursday afternoon. well, they picked up the phone and called 911. he is charged with stabbing a woman to death in her home but officials found he was too mentally ill for that trial. we're work to go find out the name of a sixth person now arrested in connection with the brussels bombing. we hope to learn more at a news conference set for later today. abrini was arrested in a brussels suburb

some firefighters were inside when the building started to collapse. they are recovering this morning. the exact cause still under investigation. >> he was making his way home from metro station this week when a group of teenagers attacked him. their target, apparently his cell phone. this happened wednesday afternoon as the man was leaving the gallaudet station. he said a teen stopped and asked him about the presidential election. he told the teen he didn't know anything about that and kept on walking. >> i would say halfway down the block later i heard someone running behind me. as i turned, one of the kids,
