road, right lane southbound connecticut right now shut down. looks like this white car may have gone off of connecticut avenue through a fence and nearly hit that house right there. we're trying to get more information on this right now. chopper just got to the scene. two problems on metro. green line single tracking between college park and greenbelt because of late clearing track work and red line also single tracking between van ness and dupont. clays both directi delays both directions there. more information on this problem here that chopper is overcoming up. breaking news in the district. a man is dead after a stabbing at an apartment in southeast. this happened on livingston road about 1:30 this morning. megan mcgrath joining us live with the latest. >> reporter: this happened just a few hours ago. so it's very early in the investigation. but preliminarily, police believe that this deadly stabbing stems from some sort

a domestic incident, that it was not a random act of violence. there is a connection here. police were called to the apartment building on livingston road right around 1:30 this morning. and that's when they found a man bleeding, he apparently had been stabbed. he was taken from the scene to a local hospital and later pronounced dead. now, investigators could be seen carrying a young child out of the apartment building. it is unclear what if any relationship that child has to the victim here. at this point no arrests have been made. police have not yet released the name of the man who died. reporting live in southeast, megan mcgrath, news 4. we're monitoring the condition of a maryland state trooper following a terrible crash on the beltway. maryland state police say trooper ezra ganeshananda suffered critical injuries. he was rushed to a baltimore hospital after crews pulled him from his mangled car. a suspected hit and run dri

slammed in to his car sitting on the shoulder of the road north of annapolis road and the driver 60-year-old prasad yadavalli hit three other cars before slamming into the trooper's car. the trooper's car was hit a second time by a tow truck. >> there will be charges here coming soon. we'll consult are the state's attorney's office to make sure all charges are appropriate that we will pursue with. >> my reaction was the car who hit him was going entirely too fast. >> the driver who hit the trooper is also in the hospital. no one else was hurt in the crash. and an expected plea in the case against the man accused of killing montgomery county police officer noah leotta. luis reluzco will plead guilty to application manslaughter. reluzco hit leotta on rockville pike while the officer was working a due patrol. he faces a maximum of 10 years. leotta's death sparked a push for stron

maryland. earlier this week, state lawmakers passed know thnoah's . d.c. police have made an arrest in a burglary that ended with a 6-year-old being shot. police have arrested 26-year-old seemgtss, one of at least two dlurgry suspects who broke in to a foote street northeast apartment, this happened last wednesday. police say a person who was inside that apartment fired shots at the suspects. two bullets hit a 6-year-old in the arm, that boy is expected to be okay. i'm erika gonzalez at the live desk. new numbers this morning, nine people dead, several hundred injured after a magnitude 6.5 earthquake in southern japan. this happened last night, homes shaking so violently that almost two dozen completely collapsed. and in the rubble of one of the homes, a sleeping baby inc

could cost prince william county schools up to $200 million to rename mills e. godwin middle school. the school is being named in honest offer george hampton. board members said renaming the school was a good idea by godwin was a segregationist. the costs including changing signings, refinishing the gym floors will be high. the chairman says carryover funds will help cover those costs. the blue line service is back on track this morning on metro after trains had some trouble and trapped rider yesterday afternoon. this video was sent to us by one of those riders. it shows passengers walking off a disabled train on to a working one. it was a mechanical issue that left almost 200 passengers stuck outside the metro station at rosslyn for more than an hour. no one was hurt and service has since been restored. go capses go.

this afternoon. one of the country's leading mosquito experts will discuss the virus at a briefing with the congressional biomedical research caucus. dr. weaver will also explain what can be done to control the spread of the virus within the u.s. federal health officials say gay men can also get the zika virus through sex all transmission. the centers for disease control and texas health officials recently published details about the first case seen. d.c. circulator routes will not be growing anytime soon following a troubling audit of the circulator system. the "washington post" reports that the district department of transportation is putting expansion plans on hold. this recent audit shows 95% of circulator buses had at least one significant safety problem. ddot's director says it does not have a maintenance facility that can keep up with repairs.

earthquake. and molette green has more on the repairs and how long they're expected to take. >> reporter: for years we've been looking at the scaffolding outside and surrounding this beautiful structure. now we'll see something big happen. some of the shaky pinnacle pieces we saw just yesterday, they're coming out. a giant crane arrives at about 9:00 this morning to remove the heavy stones that are weighing between some 400 to 2800 pounds. this is an incredible step forward in the process to fix what the 2011 earthquake broke. to replace broken pinnacle pieces that pretty much just cracked up and fell some of them with robotically carved stones. this is delicate work, it's going to take a while, about ten p years to fix at a cost before $22 million. exciting data here at the national cathedral.

6:33. d.c. police have identified the map found dead in a canal in georgetown as a man from arlington. police say the body was found by two people walking near the canal. they spotted a backpack in the water and called police. investigators donl thi't think map's death is suspicious. governor mcauliffe signed new laws that could protect dna evidence. one of the measures establishes new procedures for so-called rape kits. last year an and you had either found 3,000 kits that had they have been tested. the legislation is expected to double the number of tests performed each year. new developments this morning about brussels. the belgian transport minister resigns after growing concerns over airport security. this after accusations that she lied about an eu report criticizing security at the brussels airport long before the attacks.

when two islamic state suicide bombers detonated explosives killing 32 people. it's 6:34 now. republican presidential candidates are fighting for a big win in new york. donald trump is leading polls in his home state ahead of tuesday's republican primary. he just picked up an endorsement from the new york "post." ted cruz and john kasich stopped by the late might talk shows to try to ramp up support. kasich also received an endorsement from former new york governor george pataki. it is not likely the republican party will make changes to the nomination process before the summer's national convention. donald trump had been on the attack claiming the gop system is rigged and the party is conspiring against him. three top republican party officials agree the party should not propose rewriting the rules until after this election cycle. >> i don't question her judgment. >> even his core issue breaking up the

believe that this fatal stabbing stems from some sort of a domestic situation, that this was not a random act of violence. about 1:30 this the morning, that's when the 911 call came in when police arrived at that apartment building on livingston road, that's when they found the victim, he's described as an adult male. he had been stabbed. transported to an area hospital but later pronounced dead. as the investigation unfolded, we could see that a young child was carried out of that apartment building by police. it is unclear at this point what if any relationship that child has to the victim. in terms of where we stand with arrests at this point, we're told that nobody has been charged. the investigation ongoing. police also have not yet released the name of the man who was killed. back to you. maryland state police say testimony file charges against the suspec
