a family member inside. the firefighters forced their way in and were met with gunfire. >> as that was unfolding, the individual inside the home fired a number of rounds, striking two prince george's county firefighters and the concerned individual who led public safety to that address during the course of the evening. >> the resident who fired the shot is in custody. he has been cooperative. medics flew one of the firefighters to clinton. john ohmsteider died shortly after arriving. >> it's a tragedy. our firefighter was a close friend to many, a strong community member. we are thankful for your thoughts and prayers in this very difficult time as we prepare to honor the life

a homen vacation victim honored this week as a survivor. she is sharing some important lessons learned kristi newman and her news were newly weds when someone broke into their home and held at at knife point. >> i was thinking i've been married a month and my husband is going to die in front of my face. >> the doorbell rang in the middle of the night. three young men broke in through the garage. they had a club and knives. kristi was upstairs in bed. >> and then i heard the scuffle, like him hitting the wall. and then i heard chris run, from my husband. i said, chris run? >> she didn't have a chance.

at 6:30, we continue to follow that breaking news out of prince george's county. family, friends, firefighters mourning the loss of a fellow firefighter paramedic. the 34-year-old was shot and killed in a triple shooting last night. he was respond to go a medical care on sharon road in temple hills. this was around 7:30 in the evening. another firefighter also shot. his name, 19-year-old kevin swain. he was last listed in serious condition. a third person shot and not seriously injured we're
