breaking news, a deadly shooting in forestville. one person is dead, three others are wounded. >> police are trying to piece it all together on hill mar drive. kristin wright is there talking to investigators. kristin. >> reporter: the reason why you see all these flashes lights and police activity here behind my shoulder is that we have a total of four people shot, one of them, a woman, is dead we understand. we have video in from just overnight at about 1:30, police responded to hill mar drive for a shooting. first they found that woman with gunshot wounds as i said, she is dead. police say three men were also shot, one of them right now is in critical condition. the other two are expected to recover. they have nonlife threatening injuries. so detectives again back here live are here now trying to figure out exactly what happ

all eight of its congressional districts and the school boards in six local counties will be decided today. the big congressional races will be tracking are in districts four, six and eight. our nbc 4 maris poll indicates more maryland residents will vote for the presidential front of runners. it's a closed primary, so only registered democrats and republicans can vote. donald trump leads ted cruz by six percentage points. hillary clinton le leads bernie sanders by 17 points. the poll has a margin of error in of 3.5 points. and now the u.s. senate seat, representative donna edwards is taking on representative chris van hollen to replace senator barbara mikulski. our poll gives van hollen a slight edge over

after five term. and the congressional races, fourth congressional district encompasses parts of prince george's county and anne arundel counties. all three frontrunners are democrats. glenn ivey, anthony brown and jocelyn pena-melnyk. all eyes are on the republican party in the sixth district as well which spans potomac and gaithersburg to garrett county in western maryland. eight republican candidates are running to unseat john delaney. and now to the eighth district, this is the race where the federal election commission says it is the most expensive house race in the nation. representative van hollen is giving up his seat to run for the senate as we mentioned. three democrats top the candidates here. james any raskin, kathleen matthews and david trone. our coverage of today's votes continues on the nbc washington app. open it up to learn why maryland

plus if you need to know where your polling place is, we have a link to the poll finder. just search polling places. inside metro, a shakeup is taking place. adam tuss obtained internal memos that detail staffing changes in several departments including the rail control center. one mechl memo shows the managing director of rail transportation is on extended leave. they also outline a reorganization within other departments. the memos are from april 15th before this weekend's smoke incident on the red line. metro now says that power cables were not to blame for that incident on the red line. it's now focused on a metal piece of rail car that may have dislodged and touched the electrified third rail. that created smoke in the tunnel between friendship heights and tenially up to. o tenleytown. one rird described his experience. >> i turned around to see flashing lights, flames, reflections oof the tunnel walls. and a loud noise a

we'll have travel times in ten minutes. millions of voters weigh in on decision 2016 today. five states are holding primaries including maryland. derrick ward is live in silver spring now with the four things you should know heading into the polls today. >> reporter: yeah, you know, even if you've managed to avoid the barrage of political ads we've been seeing over the past few months, signs like this tell you that there is an election of a foot. things that you need to keep in mind -- the polls will open at 7:00 a.m. and they will close at 8:00 p.m. anyone who is in line at 8:00 p.m. if they haven't voted will be allowed to vote. and for the first time voter, you may need to show some sort of i.d., government license, driver license or even a bill with your name and address on it. expect high turnout and maryland is returning to paper ballots. we'll hear more about that

leaders say they were not aware of a former student's sexual accusations against him back in 2013. it came to light after another marine was investigated and convicted of having sex with two female midshipmen. a man accused of former house speaker of sexually abusing him is suing for almost $2 million. dennis hastert will be sentenced tomorrow for lying about alleged hush money to keep the victim quiet. the lawsuit claims that hastert sexually abused the man in a hotel room during a wrestling camp when he was 14. the victim's attorney says her client has had to deal with severe panic attacks and bouts of depression. >> i can't tell you that he's glad it came to light. you know, what happened happened. and so he's dealing with those circumstances. >> this lawsuit asks for $1.8 million which the victim says is the remainder of an oral agreement that by hats territory to pay $3.5 million. ro prosecutors will recommend six

arlington is suing 64 people including elected officials. know he have a armory opened last month. the lawsuit claims the individuals conspired to destroy the business and even mailed death threats to a teenage employee. the owner's attorney says certain individuals have followed customers and were caught taking pictures of their license plates. the suit asks for $2.1 million in lost revenue and damages. today maryland's u.s. attorney will visit a prison in allegheny county. jay rosenstein and three other members of the u.s. attorney's office will pete with 30 inmates at federal correctional institution cumberland who are prepared to be released. the u.s. attorney's office says it wants to help the inmates overcome challenges of future employment and housing while making sure they have critical documents including driver's licenses and social security cards. tomorrow marks one year since the riots in baltimore afthe
