the driver. in fort washington, thick, black smoke billowed from a home on belfast place as crews searched the home for anyone inside last night. no word if anyone was hurt in the fire there. the cause of the blaze is not yet known. and d.c. police are investigating a shooting on quarrel street northeast off of kenilworth avenue. no suspect description has news4. we want to look at the race for the white house. both candidates are not slowing down this weekend. donald trump making two stops today in both arizona and colorado while hillary clinton returns to the battleground state of florida. this october has been a string of unpleasant surprises for donald trump but now hillary clinton is getting her turn. her campaign has been rocked by word the fbi is looking into newly discovered e-mails connected to the investigation

set to get under way on the red line. there will be no service between the fort totten and noma-gallaudet stations. that means they will stay closed for the next 25 days. free shuttle buses will run to help passengers get around the closure there. the green and yellow lines are a good alternative to get to gallery place from fort totten. metro is slimming down. news4 learned more than 100 positions will be eliminated in the coming days to help balance $275 million budget short fall. positions that will be eliminated include managers and union employees. metro officials say fair hikes and service reductions are also being considered to help balance the budget. tonight, if you are flying into or out of dulles international airport, do not be alarmed. if you see flashing lights and police than usual, the metropolitan washington airport authority is doing an emergency exercise.

morning. the exercise will happen in a closed off area of the terminals and near baggage claims. fire on the run way. at least eight people recovering after an american airlines plane went up in flames as take off. the after math is caught on cell phone video. the blaze caused widespread panic as you can imagine. passengers were forced to evacuate by sliding down emergency chutes. >> it was a big ball of red fla that is all i can tell you. i got out of there as fast as i can, too, and they're moving towards the exits. >> there are still mixed reports about what actually causethe fire there. the faa says a tire blew but the airline says the engine malfunctioned. exact cause is under investigation. meanwhile, down in florida. another run way incident. this time a fedex cargo plane's landing gear collapsed while it landed. it sparked a fire in the left

hollywood international. the fedex says the pilots are safe. the flames were quickly put out. officials don't believe any packages inside were damaged. the tense protest over the dakota access pipeline appear to have subsided at least temporarily. after protest leaders urged activists to leave a barricade near a state highway bridge. 50 protesters gathered behind heavy plywood sheets and burned they faced military vehicles and police in riot gear. officers arrested one person but no details were released. uber is responding after one of the drivers was arrested for kidnapping and assault. wesagne pierre is accused of driving a passed out passenger to a hotel, carrying her outside and using her credit card. the incident is deeply upsetting and banned the driver from the

past week. part of the reason this is dragging on is because of the hundreds of swabs of evidence taken inside the savvas savopoulos's mansion where the family was brutally tortured and murdered. the trial date could be set at the next status hearing in february. election officials in alexandria uncover a case of election fraud and forgery. those are the charges against vafalay m a grass roots organization paid him 15 bucks an hour to register as many voters as he could. he filled the forms with bogus information and turned them in. that is a felony. the organization says it fired them as soon as they learned about the questionable forms in june. this might be one of your last weekends to get the yard work done outside. tom is updating the outdoor forecast including the best time to rake up the leaves. >> redskins fans have been excited for the game across the pond happening tomorrow.
