wallace was trying to shoot someone else when the little girl was hit. takoma park police are searching for a shooter this morning. a man was found shot in his chest on hill top road near maple avenue. police think he was actually shot somewhere else and dropped off there. the man was alert and conscious. he was taken to a local hospital for treatment. police don't think the shooting was random. what would you -- we want you to take a look at this screen right now. this man is missing and prince george's county police want your help to find him. this is jose mario reyes. he is 24. he was last seen on billing ton court in fort washington two days ago. if you see him, call prince george county police. today, the prince george's county council will consider a bill that could jeopardize the new university of maryland medical system campus. this all has to do with land.

parents in silver spring are remembering four young lives lost in a horrific crash. 7-year-old devan harley junior, his brother, 6-year-old nicholas and sister, 5-year-old lea, all died on friday in a crash on i-95. a family friend, lonnie tran was also killed there. the family was headed to a wedding in south carolina when their car start ed it to have trouble. while they were trying to pull over, they were hit by a tractor trailer. the family members say the father, devon harley is to survive. the mother, nancy, is fighting for her life right now. >> they really need everyone's strength and prayers and it is really hard to keep yourself together, but you have to and you know, little by little everything will get better. >> they have set-up a go fund me page to help with funeral expenses. we have a link to that on the nbc washington website. thousands of acres of land burning right now.

states because of widespread wildfires in north carolina, georgia and tennessee. in addition to scores of firefighters on the ground, now army planes are being used to douse the flames. some of the fires were intentionally set. record breaking drought is making them that much harder to put out. rescue operations are under way in new zealand after the powerful earthquake shook the country. a military helicopter arrived to shu coastal town. nearly 1,000 tourists were stranded after the earthquake cutoff train and car access to the town. a naval ship is also on its way and should arrive by tomorrow morning. today marks one year since the death of 24-year-old jamar clark. he was killed in a confrontation between two police officers in minneapolis. clark was handcuffed when he was shot in the head. a state investigation found that he was shot after apparently trying to reach for one of the

street. megan mcgrath has been on the scene all morning. what is going on now? >> reporter: well, eun, you can still see we have police officers on the scene. another cruiser pulling up a short time ago. this call came in to police, a 911 call, a little after 11:00 last night. the report of a shooting here in the 4300 block of third street in southeast. this is the atlantic terrace apartments, you can see, there is crimece part of the parking lot here. when officers arrived on the scene, that is when they found the victim described as an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. he was alive when the officers arrived, was transported to the hospital where he later died. at this point, not a lot of information, still very early in this investigation. they're trying to figure out motive and they're trying to locate the person who pulled the trigger. back to you in the studio. >> all right, megan, thank you. it is 6:46.
