from the beginning is looking into it. >> when are you gonna learn? when a plane falls out of the sky? >> reporter: that was the reaction from passengers this past june after another allegiant airlines flight had to make an emergency landing at st. pete-clearwater international. today ironically the airline celebrating a 10-year anniversary at the airport. the same day our news partners at the "tampa bay times" published a blistering report card from 2015. allegiant jets forced to at least 77 unexpected landings last year for serious mechanical issues. half of its aging air fleet suffering some sort of failure mid-flight. unexpected landings two to four times that of other major airports. >> you try not to let it bother you. >> reporter: the airline which had blamed media scrutiny over stalled negotiations with its pilots union says improvements are well underway thanks in large part to purchasing 20

its aging fleet. >> over the last 12 months, incidents were defined as a diversionary turn back, they are down 60% to the same 12- month period. >> reporter: mike winegrant says they do not have mechanics at each of the airports they service. unlike bigger carriers, they may have to divert or turn around to get things fixed. >> i believe allegiant is safe. i am not convinced most rileyable on what -- reliable based on what we will see. >> reporter: will that influence passengers' decision whether to fly allegiant? consider over the past two years amidst over all those reports the airline had record profits. at st. pete-clearwater international, eric glasser, 10news wtsp. >> allegiant says it's inquested one and a quarter

substantial raise tampa international's ceo joe lapato makes more than the people who run those airports. in fact, he becomes the third highest paid airport executive in the country. today the aviation authority raised his salary to $394,000. that is an 8% increase. on top of that his monthly car allowance doubled to $1,000 a month. oh, and he gets a half a plus then he will also get another 15% raise that year. now, most of us will agree that tampa international is a great airport and easy to navigate, but it's far from the largest in the nation. actually, it's one of the smallest of the nation's large airports. but today the board passed his raise without any discussion.

now lets just take -- let's take a peek. the controversy around the confusing solar amendment continues. with just five days until the election, opponents of amendment 1 are doing anything possible to get you to vote no. that's why they're holding rallies across the state starting right here in tampa bay. shannon valladolid shows you worked up. >> what do we want? >> no! >> vote no on 1. >> reporter: it's no secret that some want amendment 1 removed from the ballot. >> this is wrong. so we need to get the facts out, but we first need to defeat this amendment next week. >> reporter: solar power advocates are making a last- minute appeal to the florida supreme court to kill the amendment on tuesday's ballot. they say it's misleading. the problem?

the solar energy amendment. >> i don't understand how anything could be bad about that. >> reporter: the st. pete amar'e long with groups like sierra club and solar industries say if passed utility companies would have an easier time charging florida homeowners unfair fees and making it more costly to go solar. >> if it helped us become less dependent on fossil fuels, the utility companies wouldn't support it. >> reporter: the companies like florida power & light, duke energy, tampa electric, and gulf power have already donated close to $12 million for this amendment. and this is what you're seeing when you are going to cast your ballot. this part right here where it says a right under florida's constitution for consumers to own or lease solar equipment, well, that's not only confusing, but you already have that right. basically, opponents are saying this will only strengthen the

cooler. a patch or two of fog can't be rule out. mostly sunny first half of the day, partly cloudy the second half, and look at that. that's 10:30 friday night. so friday night plans for the nature coast, citrus, hernando, pasco counties, could get a sprinkle out of this rain chance 10 to 20%. look at this. as the front comes through it falls apart. front moves through overnight friday night into saturd slower to get here, and it's also a little bit more towards our east. so i don't think we are going to get quite the cool air and dry air we were watching for, but we will cool and dry just a little bit. for instance, today 86, 87 degrees. tomorrow we will make it about 84 to 85. and then as you look at the extended forecast we are gonna go about 78 to 80 over the weekend. and through the weekend we're gonna keep that moderate risk -- nod moderate, moderate level of pollen out there and it's
