substantial raise tampa international's ceo joe lapato makes more than the people who run those airports. in fact, he becomes the third highest paid airport executive in the country. today the aviation authority raised his salary to $394,000. that is an 8% increase. on top of that his monthly car allowance doubled to $1,000 a month. oh, and he gets a half a plus then he will also get another 15% raise that year. now, most of us will agree that tampa international is a great airport and easy to navigate, but it's far from the largest in the nation. actually, it's one of the smallest of the nation's large airports. but today the board passed his raise without any discussion.

the solar energy amendment. >> i don't understand how anything could be bad about that. >> reporter: the st. pete amar'e long with groups like sierra club and solar industries say if passed utility companies would have an easier time charging florida homeowners unfair fees and making it more costly to go solar. >> if it helped us become less dependent on fossil fuels, the utility companies wouldn't support it. >> reporter: the companies like florida power & light, duke energy, tampa electric, and gulf power have already donated close to $12 million for this amendment. and this is what you're seeing when you are going to cast your ballot. this part right here where it says a right under florida's constitution for consumers to own or lease solar equipment, well, that's not only confusing, but you already have that right. basically, opponents are saying this will only strengthen the
