the frederick area, but right there in the southwest corner of frederick and there's some moderate rain with that as well. the temperatures and the wind will become the very big story. and this headline, i know it's really dramatic and with the frozen thermometer on it but the temperatures are going to plummet. many places will be below 30 by morning and a freeze warning is in effect. this and with our temperatures dropping and our rain moving on out, that's when we're going to see those temps begin to drop. it's 60 degrees here in dc, 76 in richmond and you look up towards pittsburgh, 37. we're still getting winds out of the south but that will not last long. those temperatures are really going to continue to drop and we're certainly going to see them picking up. big winds, big cold we'll talk more about the freeze warning and i'll have another look at your forecast in just a few minutes. sarah and

>> new tonight amtrak trains on the northeast corridor are running on schedule again a day after a train hit a backhoe just outside of philadelphia. >> more than 30 passengers and the engineer were taken to hospitals after the collision which derailed the train. now investigate rs are trying to learn why the backhoe was on the rails in the first place. >> reporter: it's still unclear at this hour why that backhoe was on the tracks, but new york senator chuck schumer says it may have been clearing debris from the storm that night or was being used for regular maintenance since fewer trains run on sunday mornings. the train was heading from new york to savannah, georgia at about 8:00 a.m. on sunday when it hit a piece of equipment on the tracks. the impact derailed the lead engine of the train which was carrying more than 300 passengers and seven crew members.

the people killed was the equipment operator and u.s. senator chuck schumer said the other was a supervisor and both were amtrak employees. the data recorder and video from the locomotive were recovered and the recorder was sent to the ntsb. senator schumer says amtrak has a 20-step protocol for having equipment on the tracks. clearly it seems very likely to be human error. >> we all want to send out our prayers to the families of the men who lost their lives on the tracks here in chester yesterday. amtrak workers, my understanding is that they've been workers for quite some time, employed for quite some time by amtrak. our prayers go out to their

families and their loved ones. our prayers also go out to the onratetor of the train -- operator of the train. that had to be a devastated and horrific event for him. >> now, the ntsb has scheduled a news conference for 5:30 this evening and we will have an update on what officials have to say at 6:00. paul wagner, fox 5 local news. >> right now a fire at the irs building in northwest dc is causing major traffic backups in the district. >> fox 5's marina marraco is live on the scene now with the details. marina? >> reporter: yeah, tony and sarah, it is quite a scene here downtown. dc and fire still on the scene here at the irs building. we understand the justice building also without power at this hour. dc fire telling us that it seems like a transformer blew in the basement of the irs building causing smoke to pour up into the building. they had to

building and since then about two blocks surrounding the irs building shut down. you can see traffic being redirected here by homeland security as well as dc police on the scene. pepco also out here trying to figure out the situation as to what may have started the fire in the irs building but for now the irs building as well as the justice building, both of them without power. still a developing situation downtown. constitution between 10th and 12th streets shut down because of what's going on here. dc fire continues to investigate. back to you guys. >> all right, marina, thank you very much. we turn to virginia now where police are investigating a fiery accident. it happened around 2:30 this afternoon on the dulles toll roid road. police say a pickup truck crashed into the back of another truck. both vehicles caught fire. one person was hurt and taken to the hospital with

threatening injuries. >> one person is behind bars after stabbing three people at a lounge last night and tonight police have also recovered a knife possibly connected to the crime. alexandra limon is live with an update for us. >> reporter: this all started as a fight. police say a man stabbed three people and took off running in this direction. just a few hours ago, a woman found a knife under her parked car. now again police say this all started as a scuffle on the dance floor between two people. and when two security guards tried to intervene, the suspect allegedly stabbed both of those guards as well as the other man he was fighting with. police arrested the 33-year-old suspect philip harrington last night, but they had not found a weapon. today investigators returned to the scene. they searched through trash cans and bushes but didn't recover a weapon until a woman

knife under her car. she spoke to us but didn't want to be seen on camera. >> i looked and said what is this silver stuff sitting here. at first i thought it was a part from a car and i said that's a knife and i looked down and i saw kind of like spots of blood on it. >> of the three victims we have two who actually have been observed and we expect to be released some part of the early part of the day today. the third victim actually receives more serious wounds. he was actually cut three times. it was an abdomen cut, a lower thigh and somewhere in the upper left portion of his body. >> that security guard's injuries are described as serious and the suspect is facing first degree assault as well as other charges. people we talked to who live in the area as well as police say typically there aren't a lot of problems that they know of at

reporting live in fort washington, alexandra limon, fox 5 local news. >> tonight we have a cyber warning to tell you about. montgomery police say hackers are sending out e-mails pretending to be police, but authorities say it is a phishing scam. tom fitzgerald is live at montgomery county police headquarters with more. >> reporter: here's what's going on. montgomery county police have sent out a warning about this. here's what's going on. hackers are sending out these e-mails pretending to be lament officials. what they will tell you is you have received a speed camera violation. all you need to do to clear all of this up is click on the link in the e-mail. it turns out that is the last thing you should do. montgomery county police are sending out this warning saying this is a fake, folks, and for starters they never send out

the internet. >> the montgomery county police department does not issue automatic matded speed citations via e-mail. if you do receive any correspondence from the montgomery county police department or someone stating they represent the police department, you can always call us. >> reporter: if you think you've heard more about this lately, well you have. this latest cyber attack warnings on the heels of two high profile incidents. first there was the high times cafe. they were hit with a ransomware. that restaurant finally was able to reopen only after they had installed a brand new computer system. then the med star health system they suffered a massive computer problem after cyber hackers infiltrated their computer system leadingo

storm warning the temperatures right now is 28 and they have freezing fog. siim not going to complain yet but we will be complaining by tomorrow. the rain won't last all night, the bigger story issed freezing temperatures we're expecting. we've got freeze warnings which means freezing temperatures are expected and a freeze watch in the darker area for the southern suburbs. generally upper 120s to low 30s tonight and maybe again tomorrow night in fact probably tomorrow night so two days in which we're going to be dealing with significant cold overnight temperatures. first stop looking at our rain and you can see there is a bit of a back edge and also just wanted to show you the heavy snow they're getting not just in boston but around the lakes toward the buffalo area. boston expected to top out with 4-8 inches of snow. unbelievable. they've got to be so depressed about that. locally other temperature has dropped of what we believe was

a mother and hr children took a long walk last week when what should is have been a fun day as ruined. >> the mom says a cyclist not only hit her daughter but then fled the scene. >> reporter: one week ago today, four-year-old kaylee was taking a walk along this trail with her mom and her brother. but suddenly her fun day with the family took a turn for the
