our most accurate forecast. the yellow weather alert for tomorrow. leading off a look at the weather. >> we have new information in. in terms of the computer guide, the storms are behaving as they should. the radar shows that the little bit scary. here are the heavy snow bands. we are getting snow reports now down toward southern maryland, leonardtown, even toward warrant with light snow breaking out. we had a band of heavier snow toward buoy neared -- near to marlborough. in leesburg, maybe to downtown, even in southern maryland, 2-4.

in southern sections of st. mary's county, we are thinking 4-8 inches. that's actually where the blizzard warning remains in effect. we will come back and give you an hour by hour when the storms will shut off in terms of snow and tell you why we had to show you the weather alert for friday and saturday. >> we are getting closings and delays in. william county schools will be closed, fairfax county, and prince georges county schools have a two hour lay -- delay. more information about this is on mina wusa9.com. >> more crews are out in force tonight trying to make things easier for your morning commute. dc snow teams began working at 8:00 to treat roads across the city. they will be on duty all night as the snow begins. on virginia -- in virginia, they will be out pretreating the roads as well.

they told me they did not, they were worried the roads would freeze, there is a lot of salt here to take care of. john henry, wusa9. the next stop on our search for snow is down a ways in virginia beach. robert boyd from our sister station in the tidewater area has a look at what's happening tonight. >> reporter: let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. the flurries are coming down here in virginia beach. not quite enough to make a snowman but definitely to -- enough to make a snowball. tomorrow there will be plenty of snowmen outside because all of the schools in this area are closed tomorrow. a fun snow day for kids to go out and play. if you are an adult who can't play and has to go to work, it could be a tough day. you see the roads behind me, they are very dangerous. we are slipping and sliding. as you can

snow built on major highways. causing a tough time for drivers. you have the dreaded black ice that you can't see. if you are driving anywhere in the area, you are urged to be careful. the irony in all this, plow trucks cannot begin plowing until we have at least two inches. this is a very dangerous time. who knows how bad it will get over the next 24 hours. we are hearing up to a foot of snow in some parts of the hampton roads area. so, obviously, a fun time for kids. if you are a driver be careful. this is robert boyd in virginia beach. in the neighborhood coated in ice, it started as a water leak and is now a major headache. get this, several city agencies know about the problem but no one is fixing it because they are too busy trying to figure out who is to blame.>> no one seems to want to admit that it is there jurisdiction. >> reporter:

leak had frozen over in this woman's neighborhood. a problem that no one has fixed for two years even after her husband cell. >> it makes me feel like they do not care. >> reporter: video showing that the ice has expanded, it brought me back today. an entire city block coned off because it is covered curb to curb in sick ice. a dangerous down hill leading to the intersection of 36:36 in canyon street -- 36 and canyon street. >> if someone was to get hurt here, i do not know if we could get emergency vehicles, fire trucks, or any lenses into the neighborhood. >> reporter: the water is coming from three backyards including anthony junior's but he does not know where it is coming from. there trying to figure it out and could only send salt trucks

little troubling. it's staying pretty well. you see the blue bands, the heavier bands of snow. we will see how far inland they get. i do not think they will make it to 95 but even so we are looking at one-two inches near 95. john henry was in leonard's town earlier, a good band of snow around 2:35 where the bull's-eye is going to be in terms of the metro area. the real bull's-eye will be where bitler -- were blizzard warning's are in effect. mary and county could see a winter storm warning before this is all said and done. we had blizzard warning's to maine, all the way down to the little tip of north carolina. so, the critical time is now until 9:00 a.m. across the metro area. a large margin of snow will be over by 9:00 in the area.

most of the snowfall is overnight here. it will continue throughout the day tomorrow and tomorrow night. winds will be 35 miles per hour and plus. saturday, through saturday, windchills will be below zero degrees by friday morning. leesburg, and inch, rock stale, maybe two, maybe three downtown. 7-8 across the bay. our friends in westmoreland county are looking at 4-8 inches. a good deal of snow for you. in terms of future cast it feels like temperatures and windchills, check this out by the time we get into tomorrow night, it could be in the teens and by the time we get into friday morning it will feel like it is 12 degrees below zero. that's crazy. so snow shuts off around 9:00 with sunshine returning by lunchtime.
