myra: it is election day in south carolina. after two weeks of campaigning by the republican candidates. voters will go to the polls today for who should be the republican nomination. i am myra ruiz. gabrielle: i am gabrielle komorowski. it is great to be here. pamela: more girl power this morning. it is mild this morning. let's take a look. temperatures in the 40's across the area from elberton to greenwood. 45, laurens. 47, hendersonville. very mild. noticeably warmer than yesterday. a good 10-degrees to 15-degrees warmer.

myra: today is the republican primary in south carolina. it is the first primary election in the southeast. this will be the third time of voters will go out for the presidential primary. polls open at 7:00. aly myles is live in greenville at one of the polling places. aly: good morning. we are outside of the eastland baptist church across from the greenville tech. you can see it is quiet now. we are not expecting that to be the case around 7:00 a.m. jeb bush's campaign says he will be here at 7:00 a.m. greeting voters. hundreds have already cast their absentee ballots. the greenville county elections director tells us 5000 absentee ballots were turned in and in greenville county alone, a good

republican or democratic primary, not both. we have a sample of the gop ballot and next week's democratic ballot on our website and mobile app. according to the last poll released, the question is who will be in second place. there is a big swath of undecideds. the latest palmetto poll was released yesterday. a survey of those who have voted in the last two primaries. donald trump lead to 28%. ted cruz, 19%. marco rubio, 15%. 13% were undecided. last fall, the palmetto poll showed donald trump as the leader with carson as a strong second. gabrielle: several republican candidate spent time in the upstate. marco rubio was joined by

in clinton. rubio joked with the crowd of 300 saying they should both for him because he was the only candidate not pulling for alabama in the college football title game. he also told the audience he will revive the economy. myra: jeb bush and barbara bush held rallies yesterday in spartanburg, greenville, and central. he told us yesterday he was disappointed when governor haley endorsed marco rubio instead of him. there was star power in greenville for senator ted cruz. he was joined by "duck dynasty" star phil robertson. in a video that showed them duckhunting he said he believes that ted cruz was the best candidate for restoring the country to its christian roots. ted cruz joked about making love returned the ambassador for the

they believe one victim was targeted, the other was an innocent bystander. three people were injured but not shot. the five people that were hurt range in age from teenagers to their early 20's. a15-year-old boy and others were injured when a helicopter crashed in pearl harbor, hawaii. it took one hour to float the helicopter using inflatable bags. the ntsb will inspect the helicopter. the investigation will take months. in florida, one person is recovering after this boat caught on fire in largo near tampa bay. the people on the boat were able to escape. no word on what started the fire. a somber day on capitol hill saying goodbye to antonin scalia . president obama and the first

yesterday at the high court. justice scalia passed away last week at the age of 79. his body was in repose yesterday at the supreme court building. ted cruz plans to attend the funeral. authorities in oklahoma city a car chase came to a fiery end. the marlowe police department tried to stop a 17-year-old for cracked windshield. the teenager refused to stop and the chase ended with the suspect 's car and the police car burning in a field. they believe the teenager led the police on a chase because he didn't have a drivers license. in chicago, the wind left some searching for cover. chicago residents know how to make the best of any weather condition, but on days like this

struggle. several downtown buildings were evacuated when debris was tossed around. power lines were down leaving 100,000 people without electricity. gabrielle: hoverboards were a popular gift, but some started reporting that the hoverboards were bursting into flames. the federal government says that all hoverboards are unsafe. erika edwards has the story. erika: fire destroyed a national home in january. 2 teenagers barely escaped. the cause was the hoverboard. >> the fact that a toy caused this kind of destruction to our lives is strong. erika: hoverboards have been implicated in 50 other fires. the consumer product safety commission thinks the problem is how the lithium-ion battery packs interact with circuit

a letter has been sent to companies that make the toys saying that any hoverboards that do not meet safety standards will face recalls or be seized. >> i don't know any that would meet the standard. erika: custom agents seized 1400 counterfeit hoverboards with potentially dangerous batteries. they have been shipped over cargo from china. >> i would stop using them and contact the retailer or manufacturer and demand proof that it complies with the standard. if it doesn't, i would demand a refund. erika: amazon announced it would give a refund on hoverboards purchased through its website. we have attempted to contact organizations that represent hoverboard manufacturers. so far, no response. gabrielle: amazon is accepting

and 22% will use their refund for everyday expenses. gabrielle: the irs has issued a renewed consumer alert warning taxpayers that email and texting scams have surged a whopping 400 percent this year. the irs says more than 1000 phishing and malware schemes were reported in january. that's an increase of 254 during the same month last year. and so far in february, 363 incidents have been reported. that's compared to 201 incidents reported for the entire month of february in 2015. the scams are designed to trick taxpayers into thinking they're official communications from the irs or others in the tax industry. myra: ford motor company has plans to take some of the bumps out of your daily commute. ford is expanding the availability of its pothole-detection technology by including it in the new 2017 fusion v-6 sport. the pothole-detection tech detects when the car is running
