we have a crew in daley city where police lead an intense search for the suspect. first live to nbc bay area kimberly terry at the hospital. >> reporter: chief greg serr take out here a couple of hours ago to let us know the officer is out of surgery, conscious and in good spirits. about 3:45 this afternoon san francisco police say two officers responded to a malicious mischief call which could moon vandalism or graffiti. the officer pulled over the suspect's car on 26th street. as one of the officers was approaching that car, police say a witness told them shots were fired. at that point police say the other officer saw the car backing up and hit its weapon hitting the car at least once as it took off. >> we heard five or six shots. initially thought they were from a bb gun. within about five minutes we heard the police sirens. >> the fire department came, applied applied tourniquet. got him to the best hospital, best doctors in the world. it looks like he'll be okay. they're going to his life. >> reporter: shortly after the shooting san francisco police found the

working on unconfirmed continues for different law enforcement agencies including pacifica police, a daley cityn mateo sheriff's office. they are working on unconfirmed reports of a homicide and one person who is in critical condition. nbc bay area's skyranger is also above the scene as we speak and as the investigation continues, you can see that crime scene which remains taped off. we have not yet heard official word from law enforcement, but i did speak to someone who lives nearby who says he knows at least one of the victims. he told me it appears to be a domestic violence conflict between a woman and her ex-husband. what we did hear from pacifica police was a post this morning. it happened before 10:00. it reads there is an active police investigation in valomar. we are asking residents to avoid the area. the suspect is not in the area and there is no immediate threat to the public safety in the pacifica community. one of the biggest streets in the neighborhood was on lockdown for much of the morning. apart from naomi street still remains that way. schools in pacifica were on lockdown incl

daley city police are trying to figure out exactly what caused that crash. >>> in vallejo, nearly 350 firearms were taken off the streets. who turned the rocket launcher in, no one knows, because the buyback promises no questions asked. law enforcement agencies worked together to hold the gun buyback at the fairgrounds yesterday. the rest of the weapons turned in were 113 handguns, 67 shotguns, and one 163 rifles. police encourage anyone with guns that they don't use be turned in. it's often unauthorized weapons are used to kill someone. the weapons collected this weekend will all be turned into scrap. some of that scrap will help a local artist create a sculpture memorializing victims of gun violence. >>> nothousands of people in la enforcement went through the emotional dask three days ago of saying good-bye to two santa cruz police officers killed in the line of duty. and now for the first time we are hearing from firefighters who were on the scene when the bullets started flying. our chopper was on the scene in daley still city throughout the afternoon. a doctor alerted police that he saw a gunman and heard a loud bang. this is a very busy area. a lot of medical buildings and a shopping center across the industry. cheryl hurd is in daley city. >> reporter: police are still here, as you can see, but the area near highway 280 on south gate avenue is slowly getting back to normal. the street is now open now. earlier this afternoon it was quite a different story here. that's when a doctor reported seeing a man in his 60s with a gun. police were called in just before 1:30 this afternoon. police say a doctor reported he saw a man with a gun inside the medical facility on south gate avenue. >> we believe there's a suspect carrying a gun. we have not located this person to establish whether it was a gun or not. we are interested in locating this person obviously and want to make sure he's not in the neighborhood, and we won't be leaving the scene anytime soon. >> reporter: because the doctor believed he saw something and heard something like

what's likely causing the slowing through daley city and to the city as well. has low visibility and debris reported in the fog southbound at the north tower. that's a note to lower the speeds. they have scattered reports and the mud debris into the city. fog for the bay bridge and the back up continues to build. the meters lights have been on since about 6:20. about 25 minutes off of the bridge and the rest showing a nice easy drive. we will take a look and it changed over five mondays. it's tough to see with rain through the area. >> all sorts of combinations and the time lapse goes back to when we started at 4:30. most of the rain looks like the middle of the commute and down pours across the coast. pockets of rain spilling into roadwood city and along highway 1, the rain crossing heading into san jose in the next 45 minute or so. patchy fog and showers and showers should decrease in coverage, but you have to wait for the weekend for the showers to leave the forecast. morning fog and more of a temperature as we head towards saturday and sunday. >>> this week
