right in the entrance there in orinda on its way to oakland. so if you are a commuter coming out highway 24, highly recommend jumping on bart. that will take some time to clear. we'll have more on that. and then earlier this morning around 230, we had a big rig go down highway 238 northbound to southbound 880. you can see the map there. number one lane blocked due to that collision. a few lanes were blocked earlier. they're now detouring off 238 onto 880. tow trucks on the scene along with chp local fire department is there as well. that was a tractor trailer on its side. there you can see it and it completely burned out. and that blocked all lanes there on 238. one lane is open right now and our allie rasmus just arriving on the scene with her photographer, chip. allie, what can you tell us? >> frank, we are on 580 overlooking the backup on northbound 238, and you can see it here behind us. we can't get close to that crash because the backup is so bad. it extends at least a mile from 238 and 880 connector. let's show you the video right away.

that's after two train cars derailed yesterday morning near orinda.u is james torres live in walnut creek this morning with the investigation into what happened, james. yeah. pam >> bart only making that announcement just a few minutes ago, saying that they expect service to be fully restored this morning. that's after having to rely on ac transit busses as a bus bridge for pretty much most of the day. yesterday all because of that derailed that happened at about 9:00. they said the plan was if everything went well overnight, those trains would be running normal this morning. and that seems to be the case. here's what we've learned so far as to what exactly happened. they say a computer problem prevented tracks from switching automatically between the lafayette and orinda stations, so the train operator had to do that manually. bart says they are trained to do that, something happened to make two train cars derail and catch fire. and now an investigation is underway to find out if the derailment was a result of human error or a deeper problem with the

the latest was along highway 24 in orinda yesterday, shortly before noon. that follows another shooting the day before on interstate 880, in oakland. ktvu henry lee has the latest on the investigation. >> shots rang out on westbound highway 24 between fish ranch road and wilder in orinda at about 1030 wednesday morning. a witness called 911 and reported seeing a passenger in a white hyundai fired at least five shots at a black mercedes before the hyundai continued west through the caldecott tunnel into oakland. the witness said both cars had been going about 100 miles an hour. there were no reports of injuries, but there was some collateral damage. this subaru forester got caught in the gunfire. we watched as a man and a woman drove off in the car. its windows shattered as a result of the shooting. no arrests have been reported and a motive for the shooting is not yet known. the incident prompted the chp contra costa office to shut down all westbound lanes on 24 until just before noon, as officers scour the highway for evidence. it was a similar scene back
