irwin redlenner in new york. doctor, you're a pediatrician by training. we have thought from the beginning about schools, and is the column in "the new york times" right, as the europeans went about it, maybe the way they did it was the right way? >> well, a lot of countries went at things entirely differently than we did. and we had many multiples the number of fatalities that some of those countries did. as far as children are concerned, my own life's work, it's painful and heartbreaking to have so many children not being able to go to school, and a lot being forced to do remote learning. they don't have the hardware, internet access, or people to mentor them at home. it's hard to have schools closed and restaurants and bars open. there's something very wrong about that. i agree with nick chrkristoff t this is backwards. that said, neither opening the schools or other businesses like restaurants when we still do not have the pandemic under control is potentially dangerous. i understand the dilemma that mayors and governors are facing, but i wish we coul
