a metro ymca is struggling to measure up this morning... each year their annual fundraiser gives about $400 thousand dollars in financial aid to its members. but each facility is on its own to reach their own dollar-amount.... and the south side of des moines is coming up short. they're aiming for $82 thousand dollars...and only have until thursday of this week to meet their mark. it's now up and running at a delaware ymca.cal scientists teamed up with the university of delaware to make this movable harness system. it allows people with disabilities to be lifted on to bikes, treadmills and other exercise equipment there at the y. the glasgow ymca unveiled the system yesterday. they said they don't know of another system like it outside of a hospital or rehab center. >> to find this piece of equipment i would have to go to a rehab with other people with disabilities, not in a gym, somewhere where all of my family is here and it's the community. >> the goal is to eventually have one of those systems at all six of delaware's ymca branches. >>> city officials in los angeles have a new innovative way to battle the record drought conditions they've been dealing with this summer. take a look. >> three, two, one. >> shade balls away. >> shade balls away. 20,000 weighted black plastic balls were released into the los angeles reservoir. the mayor says this will save $300 million gallons of water from evaporating.
