daley city police are trying to figure out exactly what caused that crash. >>> in vallejo, nearly 350 firearms were taken off the streets. who turned the rocket launcher in, no one knows, because the buyback promises no questions asked. law enforcement agencies worked together to hold the gun buyback at the fairgrounds yesterday. the rest of the weapons turned in were 113 handguns, 67 shotguns, and one 163 rifles. police encourage anyone with guns that they don't use be turned in. it's often unauthorized weapons are used to kill someone. the weapons collected this weekend will all be turned into scrap. some of that scrap will help a local artist create a sculpture memorializing victims of gun violence. >>> nothousands of people in la enforcement went through the emotional dask three days ago of saying good-bye to two santa cruz police officers killed in the line of duty. and now for the first time we are hearing from firefighters who were on the scene when the bullets started flying. it happened yesterday at a home on westmore avenue in daley city not far from west mor high school. firefighters say two adults and two children were injured when the balcony they were on collapsed. paramedics rushed all of them to the hospital. so far no word on their conditions or why that balcony collapsed. >>> the massive fire burning in the sierra foothills continues to grow. the mosquito fire has now scorched 71,000 acres. there is no change in containment. it is holding steady at 20%. the crews are bracing for stronger winds expected in the area this weekend. >>> with the bay area as his backdrop, yesterday governor gavin newsom signed a package of bills which may be the most significant climate change measures in history. the signing took place in vallejo. the legislation is all part of the state's $54 billion commitment to fighting climate change. the new laws include a deadline for the state to be carbon neutral with a goal of reducing greenhouse emissions by 85%. they also aim to establish a 100% clean electric grid by the year 2045. >> this is the future that the folks o

let's take you into the peninsula, this is what we're looking at for places like daley city, 77. d city you'll spike up to 76. los altos, 76. not everybody is going to set records. livermo livermore, you're at 77 the record for this day is 78 -- or 78, i should say. 76 for your day. many of us will get close to setting records. even pacifica, 72 for your high there. later on, half moon bay up to 74. this is water temperatures, very warm for this time of the year. 57 off of coast of half moon bay. the buoy yesterday being the warmest water temperature we've seen since 1989 across the bay area. that water temperature very comfortable at near 59. the air temperature, very comfortable, 75. the storm door wide open for most but for us the complete opposite. the ridge that's been keeping the storm track way north will continue to live on this upcoming week. unfortunately, no rain in the upcoming forecast. at least this week. you'll notice those temperatures, they fall off a little bit. it's not going to be as warm in the next couple of days. 76 today in san jose. by tuesday, only 70 deg

also see mid to upper 60s in parts of the east bay, reaching 62 in martinez, 61 in redwood city, daley cityching 57 and temperatures back to what we've seen the past few days with highs of 67 in ukiah and sonoma today. it's dipping belw zero in parts of the upper midwest and the plains states. also that deep freeze is plunging far to the south, even dallas waking up below freezing this morning. we have these mild temperatures, but we're also going to toss winds into the mix. this is tomorrow. santa rosa will have winds at about 23 miles per hour. where you see the dark purples and brighter colors, that indicates those winds may be roaring tomorrow with those diablo winds. that's going to kick up for the afternoon into saturday morning. still no rain coming our way, so that's going to dry out the vegetation even more after this stretch of dry weather, which is typical for the middle of our winter to have at least 20 to 30 days of dry weather. this is something we're not yet concerned about, but we are going to see this dry weather continue for at least the next several days. our temperatures
