and in the background is the silver suv. suv that hit and killed a woman earlier this morning. it was a 27-year-old woman who has been arrested. she was the driver on suspicion of dui and vehicular manslaughter. another woman, possibly her friend, 26, has been killed after she was crushed by the suv that her friend was allegedly driving at the time. police received a 911 call around 2:30 this morning. a person who lives in that townhome, not related to these women, heard someone crying or screaming. when police arrived they found the driver touds suv, the other woman lying dead on the driveway. the garage door you see is seriously damaged. it looks like the suv backed into the column that supports the two garages. she got one of the doors impacted big time and the other one slightly. when they arrived they found the driver outside. they believe that the driver, the 27-year-old woman, backed into the garage andbge crushed friend in the process. one man who lives her toby was awoken by the sounds and this is what he heard. >>

and officers came across that suv. we believe that both men were inside and still possibly armed. they tried to pull the driver over in the suv last night around 10:45 at 13th and international in oakland but as you could see in the video, the driver did not comply. he led officers on a chase through oakland on to the freeway and as you could see across the bay bridge. now this video from our camera at the toll plaza showed the suv with three patrol cars in pursuit. it seems like the suv was traveling at or around highway speeds at the time. chp joined at one point. once across the bay bridge the driver to the suv exited on to san francisco surface streets where he was able to lose law enforcement. officers eventually found the suv abandoned by buena vista park. this is in the ash bury heights part. they did search for the suspects but no look in finding them. police will not indicate whether or not they know who these men are. reporting live here in oakland, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> let's hope they catch the

the suv was carrying an entire family. >> now more on the investigation and how investigators came to that conclusion. >> no skid marks, no burrows in the gravel pullout. no physical evidence at the location. >> reporter: california highway patrol investigators now believe the driver of the suv carrying a family of eight may have intentionally sped off a cliff last week. the chp says it appears the washington state family's suv may have gone from being stopped at a pullout to possibly accelerating up to 90 miles an hour and then plunging off the cliff. officers recovered the bodies of jennifer and sarah hart, and three of their six adopted children. search teams are still trying to find three other children believed to have been in the vehicle. police searched the family home on thursday, investigators retrieved computers, credit cards and bank statements. it is not the first time the family has been in the news. in 2014, one of their sons was famously photographed hugging a police officer during a portland rally. but neighbors say the hart children recently had been sneaking to their

two women in an suv cut off this big rig and the big rig flipped and the suv wrecked. the injuries of the driver of the big rig and the two women in the suv are minor. they are expected to be okay. the tow truck people have been able to move that suv. they've been able to upright the cab. the problem is a trailer. it is a full load of packages. it's a heavy load so they're trying to figure out whether it would be quicker to offload all the packages on that truck or use air bags to upright this trailer. it could take another hour, two, maybe even three as a result though fortunately right now it's still a little bit early in the commute. if you look at the headlights, they're heading northbound right now towards the scene. there is slowing, but this slowing only goes back perhaps about 100 yards. when you get here the traffic slows down. when this becomes a problem is if this is still going on later in the commute which chp is afraid could be the case. there goes another ups driver. it's a matter of them trying to figure out how to remove this full load of packages, whe

the suv driving the wrong way on northbound 85 collided with a honda civic. that suv caught fire, both drivers were killed as a result, around 12:55 this morning. that wrong-way driver was headed down northbound 85 when it collided head-on with the driver of the honda civic, roughly at the central expressway overpass this occurred. we know the driver of the honda civic was a 35-year-old man from american canyon. the suv registered in mountain view as i mentioned it caught fire and we have learned that driver was a woman. what do you expect was going on with the wrong-way driver? why were they driving the wrong direction? >> it's hard to say. wrong-way drivers are typically caused by impairment. it can sometimes be confusion, but based on the time of day, it could have been anything right now. we don't have anything firmly indicating that, but in general, wrong-way drivers do tend to be impaired drivers or those who are kind of confused. >> reporter: chp says at least two other drivers avoided hitting that wrong-way driver but their calls to 911 did not arrive
