look at the shenandoah valley. this is the area with cloud-to-ground lightning and a lot of nasty rain out there. that's the reason there is still a flash flood warning in shenandoah county until 1:00 in the morning. that's beginning to move out of shenandoah now and come over the blue ridge. it is diminishing a bit. but it's been more rain while we've been dry around washington, folks around front royal. most of the shenandoah valley has been seeing a rather wet summer. a lot of stuff. i was out there, much, much greener than it is around us in washington. while that's moving through one isolated area, look at the areas down to the south. this is what's left of claudette continuing to come in with some rains and into georgia, spots like that. you can see it's also dying out. look at woodstock, virginia. over an inch and a half of rain. and for the month so far, over three inches of rain. while we're less than a half inch i many areas around washington. look at crestview, florida. that's from claudette. over 17 inc

a little bit of light rain just now coming into the central shenandoah valley. we have temperatures there in the 60s but it's in the 70s from the blu ridge to the atlantic beaches. mid-70s in washington and the eastern shore but out of the mountains in the low 60s right now. over the last six hours, we've seen this flow out of the south tapping all this moisture, bringing it on in. meanwhile, here's what's happening with tropical storm danny. it is still not organized and still really just a cluster of thunderstorms. there's washington. there's the outer banks. there's florida. these are the latest statistics. danny's peak winds are only 40. just barely a tropical storm. with gustses to around 50. moving northwest -- north/northwest around 8 miles an hour. about 600 miles south of ocean city. by saturday it will be passing by ocean city. just a tropical storm. don't anticipate it becoming a hurricane. it may be a pretty strong tropical storm when it passes over martha's vineyard on saturday. then it races across the canadian maritimes. for us, we have this con v

there are a few sprinkles software soft -- south and west and have dissipated in the shenandoah valley. it is not just a batch of showers that i'm watching. it is really the triggering mechanism associated with them. it is what is causing brain that i am keeping an eye on. there is an upper level energy that will continue to push eastward. that could help trigger our showers and thunderstorms later today. we have had the sunshine this morning through the midday. that is destabilizing our atmosphere. then we will have something to trigger the storms and it looks like the energy will likely be the culprit later today. in the evening hours through the night and possibly into the early morning hours tomorrow, that will happen. you will see another feature and that is a cold front. 69 degrees in pittsburgh. behind the front, it is only near 70 degrees. ahead of it, we are well into the 80's. that will continue to drift our way. by tomorrow, it will move to the midday hours, dropping our humidity levels and possibly dropping temperatures. by the weekend, we will see that heat spreading eastw
