jennifer westhoven is looking out for you. >> hi, natasha.s to keep you from getting blindsided and ripped off from gift cards that you put away and slowly the store is sipping little bits from the top. first of all, in these new rules, no more fees until a full year after you bought your card. sometimes for a store you're not used to going to. plus, the cards can't expire for five years. when, poof, all of the value is gone. these new rules are for both store cards and credit card gift cards. the rules will kick in in august, there will still be fees after some of these periods. these stores have to monitor the programs, but the stores have to be straight with you and tell you about the fees when you buy them, not some tiny little fine print or if you look on this website, you can find the fine print. the best advice, though, use your gift cards quickly. natasha, i'm just not talking about fees. the main reason people don't use their gift cards, they lose them. they forget about them. just go and use them. >> good advice, jen, taken. thank y
