access to jobs, shops, culture, transit, and other amenities is certainly among the best anywhere in the bay area. second, development commissions within the study area have changed fundamentally since the last major development, the golden gate way, as was built. the freeway has come down. the beltway has ceased to operate, and light industrial area to the north of washington street turned primarily to its use -- office and residential. the port has made tremendous strides in the past decade. the embarcadero, not, the ferry building, appears 1 through 5 are all moving toward an area we can be proud. the land side, however, has lagged behind. despite a number of very attractive buildings, streets, spaces, special areas in the neighborhood, the area does remain disconnected, and the public realm is visibly for for it. the northeast embarcadero study does address these conditions. we strive to create a unique waterfront experience to enter new development respects the content established by historic buildings. to establish opprobrious feet skied guidelines to provide safe, attractive,

basic amenities would be provided to them, and they would only again have to move once. it was important for residents to know, don't be afraid for your homes. this is our chance to make park merced better. a lot of what we heard in terms of people's safety, it had more places for people to hide where there were no services or amenities on site. the idea of creating community was the thought here. in that, we wanted and needed resident impact critically to this plan, as you are going to see today. community outreach was important to us. not only in residents, but in neighborhoods. we started and worked on extensive out-reach program for the last several years that included over 275 meetings with different neighborhood groups, city and state agencies, to really understand fundamentally from the start what people needed from the area and what were the issues of the area, and how park merced could fit into those fixes and challenges. one of the things we recognized is that the community feedback has been critical. we have tried extremely hard to make sure everyone knows abo

second, this is a voting venue, not with food offered as an additional amenity. the big you are creating creates a food give shop operation with boating as an amenity. we proposed 85 new boats, practical caring capacity for the lake and size of the current fleet. the staff has recommended a proposed fleet of 50 books, which would not be sufficient to meet the public need. even if the concessionaire were to increase the fleet, which they can do at their option is my understanding, there's not enough room to service these boats in the basement area, which is roughly 1/3 the size of the shop we're using. 3, the staff right up does not include any kind of financial comparative analysis for the competing bids and potential benefits of the city. how can a decision be made regarding the 20-year contract without looking at the financial benefits to the department? that is a big missing piece of the component. by the one -- by the way, i would like to -- i have a petition for the preservation of the historical nature of the boat house that we want entered into the record.
