[applause] >> thank you, stephanie. is a pleasure to be here. we have worked together for more than a decade in trying to get this message out to pediatricians. i am a pediatrician. i practice pediatric emergency medicine in this town for 20 years. i want to put our young people to work how many of you have had your pediatrician discussed bullying with you in the context of an office visit? be honest, a couple of hands. i am not surprised. i am not surprised i like to take a few minutes to talk about some of the activities that are going on in the american academy of pediatrics which is essentially our trade union of pediatricians in this country and more specifically talk about how this issue has influenced my practice. i will talk a little bit about how i got interested in this from the lens of the emergency room. how is an emergency medicine physician engaged with bullying awareness? let's start with the aap, the american academy of pediatrics. this

first time i saw kiss live was at the farm show arena in harrisburg, pennsylvania, and it was incredibleverybody everyone in there, kiss, kiss, kiss, and they hit the stage, and just exploded and they came up on the risers. it was really astro no, ma'am ma'amical to me. ♪ turn into a ballroom blitz >> i saw fog hat and sweet play together at hershey park arena. that was huge. they came out doing "ballroom blitz." we added that to our set. bar owners -- this is my first taste of the music business. they wanted people to dance. so we would make up fake song lists of music that we did of dance groups that we would do and when we got the gig we never played it. no one would book us anymore because we would play heavy rock songs a guy literally paid us to stop playing. 250 bucks. that was a lot of scratch. ♪ >> ratt came out with "round and round." it really defined the sound of that era. l.a. was incredible when we moved out there. very overwhelming. when you are from a small town and you go out to l.a., it is ten, 12,000 bands everywhere, everyone is trying to make it and the best thing abo

i was a political reporter for "the philadelphia daily news" in harrisburg, pennsylvania, and i decidedo become a business writer. at the time my fourth child was on the way and i couldn't go back to graduate school so i went to work for merrill lynch to be a stoke broker because they had fabulous training. fast forward, i still keep in contact with some of my colleagues, and they say that they are -- the whole focus of the industry now is compliance, paperwork. and that's the same with banking. because of the backlash against what happened in the subprime, you know, the bureaucratic solution is more paperwork. and this, you know, this poor man's tale is just an example of the compliance to the extreme where you can't get approved because you didn't submit two blank pages. you know, somebody at the bank is cognizant of some new rule and they have to adhere to the letter of that rule or else they lose their job and the bank gets in trouble. so it slows down the lending process. and you have people in this unfortunate situation. host: this administration launched a program to help those w
