again a perfect example that priorities given to moving vehicles verses pedestrian safety. in that area people with handicapped and mobility impairment have to travel long distances to cross the street. gridlock in san francisco is more of a day-to-day chore to maneuver third. third and folsom is when you find cars blocking part of the sidewalk of which pedestrians are required to cross. this is definitely not a good safe practice. i print these out to give them because there's an a pun dance of information to you and i hope you take the back of these photographs to take notes so when you go back to your community you continue the discussion on pedestrian safety. thank you for your attention this morning and have a good day. we have discussed priorities.what has come out of the long term planning process over the last several months. public priorities, commission priorities, staff concerns, and recommended levels of service goals. we spent the last three meetings talking about those. today we have set goals and levels of service that we can move forward with to get the program moving forward. to review, there are five goals. compliant, reliable, resilience and a flexible system. minimize flooding, benefits provided to impactive communities, modified systems to adapt to climate change, and lastly achieving economic and environmental sustainability. we will move into the expectations for today's workshop. today we are focusing on goals and level of service. really, this is an improvement program and a capital program that is the result of the master planning process that occurred over the last several years, ruling in all of your concerns and conversations here at the commission, identifying how we will meet the challenges of the future

border security is one of my highest priorities. i represent 785 miles of the mexican border, more border with mexico than any other member of congress. as the vice chairman of the homeland security appropriations committee, we have made -- making our border more secure a high priority. earlier this month, the house passed supplemental appropriations bill that continued funding for operation iraq in afghanistan and it included $701 million in much-needed border security funding. this is funding that our men and women on the border are asking for and need to get the job done. we all know the violence in mexico has escalated. we need to ensure the u.s. borders are not left vulnerable. this new vulnerable is much smaller than the previous one that was cut by the senate. this bill does not have the operations -- a much-needed program that is supported by many bipartisan members. nonetheless, i support the chairman on this effort. i thank him for his leadership. and this bill will target funds just as the previous house-passed supplement
