senator mitch mcconnell, sarah palin, mike huckabee, we got no reply from anyone. joining us now, two republicans who will talk. david fromm and founder of the blog fromforum.com and also with us, democratic strategist paul begala. what is newt gingrich doing? is this just a not-so-subtle way to play to racial fears? >> perhaps. i don't want to go there yet. newt has said some crazy things. he's an intellectual. if you unpack that phrase about kenyan anti-colonialism. that's the first american tradition. we are a revolutionary anti-colonial people. the whole reason we exist is because the continental congress passed a resolution that says these colonies are and of right ought to be, free and independent states. so, it's not the anti-colonialism that can bother newt about our history. he knows that's our finest tradition. so, it's the kenyan. why did he pick that instead of kansas which is where his mama was from or hawaii, which is where he grew up? my guess -- and you have to ask newt, but it's curious choice to be sure. the word "kenyan." >> alex, what about it?

candidate, and then, of course, mike castle, who lost to a tea party candidate in delaware, their voting records on all four of those issues were the same as john thune's, mitch mcconnell, and john cornyn with the exception of, i must say, mike castle voted for reg reform. he was the only one in that group. so should john thune, mitch mcconnell and john cornyn be thrown out of office? because on those major issues you're so upset about, they voted the exact same way as these candidates that got thrown out by the republican party? >> well, i didn't campaign against lisa or bob bennett. this was a decision -- >> but you supported bob bennett's -- one of the people who challenged him? >> with well, once bob was out, yeah, i was supportive of mike lee, because he's a great candidate. but these are appropriators, bob bennett, lisa murkowski. they believe their job is to take home the bacon. it's a big part of the culture here in washington. and frankly, i've been around long enough to know that people are tired. even in alaska, candy, in alaska the voters there threw out someone who was bringing home the bacon. joe miller, running against earmarks, because i think we're hea

somebody who wants to advance the conservative cause, if it comes down to mike castle in the senate and the result is mitch mcconnell as majority leader and eventually empowered jim demint as committee chairman and jim coburn as committee chairman and you would have a conservative senate, and that is not better than christine o'donnell winning the -- >> well, pigs will fly before jim demint gets a committee chairmanship and i would rather see a democrat than mike castle in that seat. >> you don't care about the majority? >> well, it is the principle. when you look at 2012, the democrats have a bad calendar against them. this is about moving them to the right and not the senate to thep ares. >> this is the attitude that has led to directly not a single republican congressman from all of new england, and you know, that is a big deal. this is either a big ten or you aren't and you need to bring the people to the center right, and the republicans are in a great shape, but they need the centrist republicans and they can't kick them out of the party. >> moderate is not a bad thing for most of the country. >> this is a spi
