team member david blake was known for taking the lead on special operations. dan ponce is on the south side with new clues on the hunt for his killer. >> reporter: as you mentioned, the officer identified as david blake. he was a 15 year veteran of the chicago police department. right now two chicago police officers are posted in front of his home. they've been posted there for the past 24 hours. so far no suspects are in custody. officer david blake began his service with the chicago police department in 1995. for the past five years he was assigned to the police s.w.a.t. unit. he's a highly-decorated officer earning 84 awards during his 15- year career in chicago. he also loved to play football playing four seasons on the chicago police enforcers football team. last night around 6:30 his body was found inside his personal suv on the 2900 block of west sipe street. he had been shot several times. >> i just heard the gun shots. that's when i ran away and called it in. >> reporter: chicago police officer theodore browning lives on the street where it happened.
