kristi noem has received over $3 million.d incoming congressman steven fincher's family has received $3.2 million. are these the the new welfare queens. there isn't a welfare recipient that has gotten anywhere near this money from the federal government. republicans took an important step forward today. so it was really surprising when one of the biggest advocates of pork or earmarks depending on your perspective, minority leader mitch mcconnell said this on the floor monday. >> i know the good that has come from the projects i've helped support throughout my state. i don't apologize for them, but there is simply no doubt that the abuse of this practice has caused americans to view it as a symbol of the waste and out of control spending that every republican in washington is determined to fight. >> all right. hey, that's change we can believe in. of course, this is just the first step, we'll believe it when we see the programs get cut from the budget. our next guest is not sure this is a positive development. christopher beam
