they are san leandro, heyward, san francisco. the city has been holding a community meeting tonight to talk about the violent outcome. >> reporter: san francisco police chief, board of supervisors president and the police commission gathered to address the public's concern regarding the officer involved shooting in the portola district. the chief believes two officers who shot and killed vinh bui acted lawfully. when the officers arrived they found him with a scalpel and when officers demanded he drop it, he tried to assault the officers. that's when the officers shot and killed him. the latest just this morning around 9:00 in heyward. an officer opened fire on a man who police say brandished a weapon. the officer initially responded to the home after a report of some sort of dispute there. the name of the man that was shot is not being released yet. the officer is on leave pending an investigation. >>> that came just 12 hours after this, a officer shot and killed a woman in oakland following a police cheese. after the woman's -- police chase. after the woman's car crashed, police officers say she kept revving her engines fearing she was going to try to run them over, one of the officers opened fire. the two officers also arrested a passenger who tried to run away and the officers are also on administrative leave. >>> police chief from san francisco went to a neighborhood telling the people there that his officers were forced to open fire. but tonight, the mother of the victim says she begged them not to shoot. we have that story. >> this is a very tragic event. >> reporter: the police chief stood before the communi
