kristen fisher has a look outside your door there. glad to see your hat on. >> reporter: i know. different day, different hat right? so far, i have been pretty impressed with the road conditions this morning. we drove out there, we are at the intersection of beau la road and manchester. we drove here from northwest dc. i'm very impressed with how the roads are looking. this is really virtually no ice we experienced on that road. the plows have been out in full force, a very impressive showing of plows this morning. really no problems to report on the main roads in this area that i saw as we drove out here. looking very good for commuters this morning. but of course when you get on the more side streets, like right here, this is manchester, you can see that instantly the amount of snow on the roadway picks up, pretty substantially. so the second you get off the main roads, that is when you are going to want to watch out, that is when things do indeed still get a little bit slick. but again you know, there have been so many complaints, especially last year, during the snow, there w

of the plow crews are done and hopefully that is paying off this morning. 9news now reporter kristen fisher is monitoring the conditions. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, you know, i was actually stuck in that traffic yesterday morning, let me tell you, for anybody that was stuck in it, it was not fun but i'm very optimistic this morning's commute is going to be a whole lot better than yesterday. we are certainly likely to see some problems pop up around the area, because there is still some snow on the ground. but for the most part it is going to look a whole lot better than yesterday. i'm standing in alexandria, fairfax county, this is a main road through here. look at this roadway. you guys just missed this whole crew pass through this intersection. the crews have been doing an impressive job overnight. i have seen at least a dozen snow plows and salt trucks move through this area this morning and it is only 5:00 a.m., so they have done a great job of keeping the main roadways clear. last night we caught up with quite a few people preparing their cars to get ready for this mornin
