our guest on "newsmakers" is a north carolina republican patrick mchenry. he chairs a subcommittee related to the bailout. one of the questions -- can states declared bankruptcy. host: do you envision having a conversation about state bankruptcy? so they can go through a legal process to deal with debts? guest: i am not convinced it is the right answer. however, i do not think there has been enough research done about whether or not bankruptcy would be costly to the states, in terms of the state's -- the states that are in fine physical shape, whether or not they will pay a lot more and lending costs because this is on the books of verse is the states that said, the bond markets are in bad physical shape whether it is illinois or california. i am not convinced it is the right approach, but it is something we are going to have to discuss and better understand. i do know, and i can say this for certain, that this congress and the majority that i have the pleasure to serve and in the u.s. house, has no appetite for a bailout of any kind for the state's. host:
