toshiba will carry out feasibility tests in new mexico and the u.s. mitsubishi plans to fully operate an experimental system for electricity generated by solar power in june. this will integrate electricity from solar-powered generators and power produced at central plants. as efforts to build energy efficient communities are on the rise across the globe, japanese firms have attached importance to building overseas infrastructure and are vying to seize the initiative. >>> in the year ahead, japan faces a challenge of promoting free trade to revitalize its economy. with a new policy on japan's economic alliances, the government will step up its efforts to reach economic partnership agreements or epas. it will decide whether to join negotiations on a transpacific free trade pact as early as this summer. talks on the epa with australia have been stalled since april. but are scheduled to resume in february. japan also wants to start negotiations with the european union and the first half of the year. japan will send officials to the u.s. in january to gat

you mentioned toshiba, what other companies are poised to steal market share from apple? >> well, it seems like at this show, just about every manufacturer that has ever made a computer or a television set is coming out. so you are starting to see companies like sharp and visio who are coming from the tv end. so i think you've got a lot of different players in there. it's not quite clear to me whether, you know, all of them will be successful in this space. it's really a different-- a different kind of market and i guess we'll see how it plays out. we may not even see all of these devices come to market as scheduled this year. >> tom: you mentioned some of the tv manufacturers. and i want to ask you about tv because it was last year that we first saw 3-d television, very expensive at the time, very limited programming. but yet another consumer electronics trend that is expected to grow. what kind of price trends are you seeing for 3-d television? >> well, i think you're going to see them coming down in price and being on many more sets in the manufacturers line-ups. and y

i got a look at technology from toshiba yesterday where you don't need glasses to see 3-d.imited, it's early, it's not ready for prime time and it's going to be crazy expensive when it debuts later this year. but you can see the future. they had to quadruple the resolution of the 3-d because the glasses are off. unfortunately you're seeing the credits here but i'll give credit to panasonic because they're bringing the cost down for 3-d plasma. their 42 inch 3-d tv debuted about $500 more on the suggested price on this upgraded model for 2011. seeing price drop on these tv as other themes, internet-connected. a skype camera built right into it. streaming with netflix and amazon. i heard rumors that voodoo may be announcing 3-d streaming but these just a rumor. that's pretty cool stuff. let's talk wireless. one of my favorite gadgets has been the i-5 card. you take a picture with your camera and it wirelessly transmits the photo to the hard drive of your computer. it does that automatically. now it does that for your tablet and smart phone. i think that's just genius because
